Product Description

A complete PA System that fits in the trunk of your car, the L1® Model II Double Bass is recommended for DJs and lower-range instruments and voices. Also great for use as a bass guitar amplifier and for kick drums, this sleek system takes just a few minutes to set up.

The L1 Model II Double Bass System provides wide coverage and smooth tonal balance. And it's packed with proprietary Bose® technologies designed to improve your amplified sound. Like the original, award-winning Bose L1 system, the Model II sound system is an all-in-one innovation that replaces conventional monitors, mixers and PA speakers.

L1 Model II Double Bass System Features:

  • Spatial Dispersion™ and Articulated Array® speaker technologies
  • Single-input power stand with retractable legs
  • Two B1 bass modules
  • Integrated power amplifiers in the power stand

L1 Speakers Sound advantages--only from Bose
The system's breakthrough loudspeaker produces wide, uniform sound coverage of nearly 180 degrees—onstage and throughout an audience of up to several hundred—with little dropoff in volume and tone.

The Model II system also features Articulated Array speaker technology for better tonal balance. The loudspeaker's 24 vertically mounted drivers are precisely angled to create clearer highs and more consistent tone in the room. Even people off to the sides of these stage speakers enjoy well-balanced, detailed sound.

Deep bass from small enclosures
Bose L1 Model II systems come with two B1 bass module to ensure more accurate amplification of lower notes. Highly efficient speaker design features two 5.25 inch (13.3 cm), high-output, high-excursion drivers that produce deep, strong bass from a small enclosure. When connected to power stand, active equalization circuitry automatically adjusts bass signal appropriately. (The single bass package is recommended for use for most instruments and vocalists. item # BOE L1MIISBP)

B1 bass modules are considerably lighter and smaller than conventional bass bins required for the same performance. Power up to two bass modules on a single power stand. (Add two more bass modules to the system with an optional PackLite® extended bass package. item # BOE EXTBASSPK)

Light and easy
The L1 Model II power stand weighs only 24 pounds, and its four retractable legs make it very easy to transport and set up. The power stand also has a simplified control section; the single line-level input can be used with instruments, mics, mixers, laptops, MP3 players or DVD systems.

All of the system's components are also built to handle the road. The loudspeaker has a rugged, reinforced grille, and each package includes padded carrying bags for major components.

big sound for little gear
Product Rating

Your general opinion of this product.

well I play in a couple of bands and live music is my thing..I bought this thinking if it doesn't work well as a pa ill use it for my bass rig..Not only does it work well but that one tower and 2 b1 bass bins was enough for 4 vocals, drums, guitar and bass. all running threw a small board into the L1 model 2..I still want to get another one so we can do bigger events with it and eventually one for each of us..all i have to say is...WORD..

op notch 2 cables and your sturdy and well made

from bag to set up less then 10 min..if I stop and order a drink ,park the truck and hit on the ladies..

this product is great. it could use more out puts and the touch tone should be more then 4 outputs. other then that its well made. easy set up makes for great shows. also the unidirectional speakers are the much sound for such a little speakers..frickin nuts..

clear as a bell...straight with no feed back...unless you have to have monitors because you cant get over not using them..some people are so droned that they still can't believe you don't need don't..get over it right and you only need one for a room that can hold 3 to 600 people...suggest another one for bigger rooms.

4 Piece band in Bose

I purchased the custom hard case to make sure that it would withstand the stress of touring. It has yet to show any bugs or outages. Utter perfection in sound and durability.

The best feature is the ability to have the entire band playing out of the Bose. We have the main vocals on channel 1, the guitars on channel 2, the bass on channel 3, and the stereo electric drums on 4 and 5. We are able to get so many more shows and charge much higher because we are truly independent. We just need electricity.

Set up is 10 minutes tops, that's with plugging in the instruments as well. No manual needed, it is soooo easy to install!

It's Bose. Nuff said.

Your general opinion of this product.

Sound, durability, playability, transportability, and look. It is a work of genius.

Traditional PA Use

The quality appears to be very good. The system looks very elegant in any setting. Even the included carry bags are high quality. The sound is terrific, but they do require EQ to get good sound. If you don't have the know how, then the tone match engine might help. I found them to be pretty dull and lifeless at their debut gig, until I got a handle on what they needed for eq. An exciter also adds greatly to their sound and impact, particularly on the low end. I have 40 plus years as a sound tech, and these things sound very clear in the mids and highs.I have used JBL SR series for the past twenty years, and I am pretty spoiled.

The best feature of this product is the sound to size ratio. You can get this rig upstairs with ease, and play a huge room, or a tiny room. The quality of the sound is excellent, and provides decent impact for the drums and bass. You get plenty of volume, but at the same time, you somehow don't need as much volume to get a pleasing, exciting aural experience with these speakers. We can rock a club on saturday night, and play a wedding the next day, without scaring the bride's mom with a huge speaker stack. I love the ease of speaker placement. Even in oddly shaped rooms, every seat in the house is a good seat for sound!

This system is very easy to assemble, and sounds good right out of the box, but benifits greatly from added EQ,noise gates, compression, reverb, etc, just like any other system does. (I use one system per side, as a FOH traditional PA, (1 tower, 2 bass bins), with big bass and drum mix, five vocals, two horns, keys, and sometimes as many as three guitars at once, one of which is an acoustic!) I also use an exciter to help the low end sound bigger without killing the tiny drivers in the subs. I don't use the tone match engine, since I already have a DBX speaker processor, as well as all the other gear mentioned above...Pros:Great sound from almost any place in a given room, including off to the extreme sides. You can get huge sound in any sized venue short of a stadium, if you know what you're doing. Patrons can sit right on top of these speakers without getting their ears blown out. Cons: Slightly more tedious setup, due to multiple parts, and extra cabling, zippered bags, etc.

The L1's are nothing short of great, especially when you consider their size and footprint. For concerts on the beach, I might consider staying with my EV loaded bass horns and JBL tops, or perhaps a combination of the horn subs and L1's. You can't get the chest pounding sound of a bass horn with the little L1 subs, but you will be amazed by the deep, smoky bass and pleasing punch that you do get! And the fact that every seat in the house gets good sound is nothing short of a miracle. Also, this is the first system I have used that does not suffer from high frequency phase problems when you stand directly in the center of the stage on the dance floor. You do, however, get the normal coupling of the bass bins at this location, which, in my book, is not a bad thing.
