Product Description

The Boss BR-600 Digital Recorder is the supreme notebook studio!
BOSS has a long, celebrated history as the world’s premier compact-effects manufacturer, but now the BOSS brand has become synonymous with portable digital recording as well. The latest arrival in the BOSS recording line, the BR-600, is the most physically streamlined, feature-rich eight-track studio on the market.

The BR-600 provides eight simultaneous playback tracks, but there’s more than meets the eye. Each of the eight tracks also contains eight V-Tracks (virtual tracks), which gives musicians quick access to 64 tracks of recorded material. They can record dozens of takes, and choose their favorites for mixdown.

Tracks can be manipulated with the powerful effects built into the BR-600. Derived from BOSS high-end recorders, these quality algorithms can give even the dullest tracks maximum impact — mistakes can be fixed, mixes can be mastered. Included in the effects suite: COSM guitar and bass amp models plus chorus, delay, reverb, and EQ for every channel. Pitch correction is provided as well.

The BR-600 has a high-quality drum machine built in. Perfect backing tracks can be assembled from the nearly 300 drum and percussion patterns built in, or beats can be programmed from the velocity-sensitive pads. Rock, pop, blues, country, R&B, Latin, and more — kick-start a song from the many styles provided.

Wherever musicians go, the ultra-portable BR-600 is ready to record. It can operate on six AA batteries (or AC). Quality stereo microphones are built in for point-and-capture recording on the spot. Whether for recording band rehearsals, gigs, or capturing ambient sounds, the BR-600 is all musicians need to get the job done with no hassle. The BR-600 records its CD-quality digital audio direct to the included Compact Flash card, the international standard for reliable, portable storage, and even comes with a custom carrying bag and XLR-to-1/4-inch mic adapter.

Powerful Little Piece of Equipment

Seems to be made well, despite the case being made of plastic. It is more substantial than you would think.

Portability is key here. I like the unit's small size and light weight.

There is a lot of information to read up on, but the basic operation of this unit is simple and easy to understand.

I've only had the unit a short amount of time, but it seems like it should hold up well.

Your general opinion of this product.

I am impressed by all that this unit can do.

Grandpa's First Digital Recorder

Not for "butterfingers". I would not want to drop the unit. It could benefit from metal casing.

I was amazed at what they could pack into that little box. The features are so plentiful that after months of daily use, I am still finding little features that make me giggle with delight.

Being that I was an old analog guy, the manual frightened me at first. It took a few days of trial & error to navigate throughout the screens but once that was achieved,I could give lessons!

Sound quality is fantastic, especially the exterior mics. Great for live recording as well as studio.

The unit is very reliable, it always does what it's told to do without a glitch.

Your general opinion of this product.

Overall, I have had many hours of fun with this product and it has never let me down. It is great for a beginner or advanced musician.

Worth every penny

See reliability.

It has everything you need to make a polished home recording. I use nothing but my guitar and some times a bass, but the bass simulator is cool, as is the acoustic simulator. If you're planning on recording a whole band get a model with the ability to record more than two tracks simultaneously. The memory card that comes with it is very limited. Even the best 1gig card can only handle a few songs with a lot of tracks. I wish it could take a bigger card. I've had a few problems with the computer back up and lost some stuff so I prefer to store everything on a card.

Its a little difficult getting the hang of it but once you figure it out it's pretty straight forward

The tone is amazing. I have been unable to get a better sound with my amp and a mic than I can get with the built in presets

I've had it almost a year and it has withstood a couple spills and being carried in a gig bag.

Your general opinion of this product.

It's great. I am in a original band and I able to make great sounding demos with the BR600. Also I am able to sinc up with ProTools and record my parts at home and then sinc them up in the studio with the "real recorder"

Fine, Quality Recording

I consider the BOSS BR600 to be well made, and it is dependable

All the features of the BOSS BR600 are well engineered, there is no "one" feature that stands out, that would be up to the user to determine per application.

The BR600 is easy to use, other products easily interface with this recorder.[Read the manual, the basics first, then sections relating to your applications].

The tone is fine. [use good earplugs, headphones, speakers],

I haven"t had my recorder long enough to know how it will stand up over a long period of time, but judging from other products of similar design, [few moving parts, good electrical connections], the BR600 should last a long time.

Your general opinion of this product.

This is one little B-A piece of equipment considering it's size and cost.

Good Little Budget Recording Studio

I've had mine for nearly 2 years and it is still kicking. I carry it around in the flimsy little cloth carry bag that comes with it and I have not had any problems. I take it to gigs with me in a case with my microphones and various cables. It has come through with no problems every time. The sliders, buttons and knobs are all very sturdy.

My personal favorite feature on this unit is the virtual track feature. Each channel can record up to 8 Vtracks. I overdub multiple takes of my guitar playing until I have one that I am happy with. Other good features include the wide array of guitar effects included in the unit. There are many pre-programmed settings that come stock with this unit. All guitar effects can be tweaked and saved. Very nice features.

OK, so this unit is a little complicated to get use to if you want to utilize it to it's full potential. However, you can get started right away recording with it without doing a lot of reading. The longer I've had it, the more familiar I have become with it and the easier it is to use. The only thing that frustrates me now is that the unit goes to sleep after a 10 or 15 minutes and I forget to shut it off and the batteries burn out on me.

I have not had any problem with the sound when using the line-in, guitar or external microphone. It is difficult sometimes to dial-in the perfect level when recording externally via microphone but it can be done if you are patient. The unit comes with two built in microphones. They are OK but I prefer to recording with line-in or external mics.

Has withstood the test of time. Fires up every time no problem! Make sure you either have an external power supply or a spare set of batteries though if you plan to take it on the road. Also if you buy this, but a 1GB compact flash card too. The 128 MB card is not big enough.

Your general opinion of this product.

For the price, this unit is well worth the money. I have been taking guitar courses at Berklee and using this to record my assignments then mixing the assignments down on my computer. This unit has been a great tool for me. I also use it to record my band both live and in rehearsals. We've made many a demo with this unit.

Dont Put It Off Any Longer>>>>

Pretty sturdy unit. Sliders are nice and firm. Pads are kind of small but I wont complain too much since unit is good to go anywhere with you.....

Its a recorder..You get out what you put into it.. Drum machine is a bonus for putting ideas down. I've later gone back and added my own drum tracks from another machine. Easy to do...Built in mics a BIG plus...Idea hits you, put it down right then and there!!!!

Like others have said, read the manual. You have to!!! It took me about a week to get the basics but once you get that, everything else should fall in place...

Sounds very good overall..Most of the effects can get the job done for demos. Of course not major studio quality....

Only had it a couple of weeks, but it is sturdy enough for regular use.. The case that comes with it is flimsy for my taste but you can use a more thicker notebook pc case for it.

Your general opinion of this product.

Glad I finally got it..I was putting it off for a couple of months trying to get my money right. I was kind of torn between this unit and the one from Tascam.. The built in mics and drum machine makes this the better choice for me...BUY A POWER ADAPTER AND ANOTHER MEMORY CARD......

Just By It!!

Unit doesn't feel all that sturdy, made of hard plastic. That said I don't really think it will be A problem. Actually dropped it pretty hard once, and didn't damage it. Sliders and knobs feel pretty solid.

Features are great. plenty of presets, for guitar/bass/vocals, plus options to make your own. Drum machine is kind of tricky, but once you get used to it, its not so bad. Sounds great too.

Gave it 4 stars, probably deserves 5. Never used any type of recording equipment before, so it took me about A week to unlock the true Potential of this machine. Manual is huge, definatley read through it, it helped me alot.

Sound is amazing. If you can dream up A tone, you can achieve it on this system.

Had it A little under A month now, so can't really say. No problems so far.

Your general opinion of this product.

Definatly worth the money, GREAT BUY!! I'm sure they're are better recorders out there, but this is more than I need. Great Price
