Tailored to the needs of discerning guitarists of all types, Boss’s flagship Katana Artist amp provides the incredibly authentic tune tone and feel, true Boss effects and great value we’ve come to expect from the Katana series!

Katana Version 3:
Added Effect Types, New Real-Time Control Assignments, and Stereo Effects When Recording via USB

The Katana Version 3 update enhances the stage-class Katana amp lineup with even more performance versatility. New effect types include the legendary Roland DC-30 Analog Chorus-Echo, classic BOSS GE-10 Graphic Equalizer, and expressive 95E pedal wah, providing iconic tones that perfectly match the Katana’s Brown amp character. In addition, BOSS Tone Studio offers the ability to assign favorite parameters for quick-access control from the front-panel effects knobs and create custom control assignments for up to three connected expression pedals. And when tracking in a DAW via USB, it’s now possible to capture true stereo sound with many of the Katana’s modulation, EQ, delay, and reverb effects.

Katana Version 3 is a free, user-installable update for all Katana owners.

About the Katana Amp Series
Katana—the traditional sword carried by the historic samurai of Japan—is a symbol of honor, precision, and artistry in Japanese culture. Adopting the majestic sword’s name with pride, the Katana series presents guitar amplifiers with smooth, cutting tones honed by generations of dedication and expertise. Born of the development process behind the acclaimed Waza amplifier, these innovative amps embody BOSS’s determined pursuit of the ultimate rock sound. Featuring proprietary circuit designs and meticulous tuning, the Katana series combines traditional craftsmanship and breakthrough functions to produce true next-generation rock amplifiers.

Refined Tones for Stage and Recording
Built for pro players, the 100-watt Katana-Artist combo features a new cabinet design with front-facing controls and a premium Waza 12-inch speaker. The semi-closed back is ideal for rock tones, and the tight, rugged construction produces rich, full sound with impressive projection. You can further tweak the response for your touch with the dedicated Cabinet Resonance control, which customizes the dynamic interaction between the amp’s output section and speaker. In addition, the sound and response of the Katana-Artist’s five amp characters have been fine-tuned to work in perfect harmony with the Waza speaker and new cabinet.

Waza Speaker: Legendary Tone, Modern Power
A standout feature of the Katana-Artist is its custom Waza 12-inch speaker, which produces tones inspired by the benchmark 25-watt British stack speaker from the 1960s. BOSS set out to fully capture the rock speaker’s sought-after sound and response, but with the practical benefit of greatly increased power handling. Through detailed analysis of original speakers and careful selection of the magnet, cone material, and other construction elements, BOSS has fully realized this goal.

Tone for days

Product Review

I was won over by the flexibility of the amp in terms of effects options, but thought it would only serve as a clean pedal platform. Solid state amps are all tinny and brittle and don't have that tube warmth, right? Wrong. So wrong. This amp has a great clean tone reminiscent of a Roland JC-120, but on the cruch/lead/brown settings the thing is just a monster. Plenty of gain, and the option to select a number of different distortions and overdrives to load in front of the amp model. I was able to dial in a decent tone with the onboard controls, but if you're not using the Boss Tone Studio to unlock the additional options, you're just not using it right. Specifically the EQ - there's a great 7 band EQ you can add in, and it makes all the difference in the world. Give this amp a try, and you won't be wrong. I've been a tube amp guy for years and have always used outboard effects pedals because digital has just never had the same sound quality. This amp is like having five different heads to choose from, and the biggest pedal board you could imagine. Before this amp I had been playing through a 6505 head and 4x12 cabinet, but now... I just don't know if I need them anymore. All the options and flexibility, plus this thing is just plain LOUD. Try it, and you won't be disappointed.

So far I like it

Product Review

After I finally got the editor downloaded (had problems with that) I’m liking it a lot, haven’t used this live yet, will try this out at our next practice, but so far a great sounding amp! I bought the amp/GA 4 pedal package with a boss expression pedal for volume control which works perfectly. This will most likely become my gig rig because everything is built into it, Less set up time and lighter than a tube amp. I’ve been playing over 50 years and have played about every amp known to man, so if I like it then it’s a good sounding amp!

Thee Best Solid State Combo On Earth

Product Review

To say that in the past I was less than impressed with Solid State amps is the understatement of the century as I plain hated them. At the lat 2019 NAMM I got a chance to listen to some of the latest SS amps and the BOSS Katana was one of the ones that made me rethink my views on this technology. First I bought the Katana 100 2X12 combo and I was really impressed, but I got a chance to play the Artist version and was blown away at how close this can sound to a really expensive Tube amp and how much versatility this amp has. The clean channel and effects are simply kick ass and the gain channels can get dirty enough for most, even yes Heavy Metal tones that dont suck. From a hater to a convert the Katana Artist series is thee best Solid State combo on planet earth that I have heard. The Hughes and Kettner Black Spirit is the only other SS amp that can give this a run for the money, but its $900 and not a combo. 5 Stars for BOSS and AMS for keeping my gear addiction in step!

Better than i expected!!

Product Review

Needed a versatile light amp that could sound like everything. This does the trick. would have given it 5 stars but the effects are very touchy. Not easy to perfectly dial them in and save them. Still might use a couple pedals.adequately loud

Surprisingly great

Product Review

Firat off, I own several Fender tube amps. I've also used a lot of different type of modeling amps (Fender, Peavey, Line 6, etc). This amp absolutely surprised me at how authentic the tones are and how versatile it is. The ONLY thing I could think of to improve the amp would be for Boss to add a tuner. It covers cleans such as country chick'n pick'n very well. Light distortion/overdrive for classic rock. Heavier crunch and chug, it is in there. For the price, you simply can not beat this amp. Hands down the very best amp I have ever played. Effects are amazing. Versatility, affordability... it's great in every aspect. Do not hesitate on this one!!!
