Product Description

The Crossover KO from Breedlove is a gorgeous instrument with an oval sound hole and X-bracing for notable resonance and an open tone that works in for any style! You will appreciate the broader range of sound that only a mandolin of this quality can provide.

Body Shape
The K series of Breedlove mandolins have become an instant classic. Through the mind and hands of Kim Breedlove, the traditional Florentine shape has been transformed into a more modern, less rounded version of itself.

Top Wood
Sitka spruce, picea sitchensis, originates in the northwest United States. Sitka spruce has been the primary top wood for American-made instruments for decades. It is strong and light with extended harmonic content, and it nearly equals the power of Adirondack. It offers a strong, focused tone with a solid fundamental -- perfect for flatpicking styles. When compared with European spruce, Sitka delivers warmer, more fundamental sound, largely free of overtones. Sitka takes a slightly longer period of playing time to open up. It has a straight uniform grain and coloration ranges from white to pink to light brown.

Band and Side Wood
Maple is great for standing out among other instruments. With a powerful fundamental and even harmonics, it is clear and present, but without pronounced peaks and valleys in the harmonic content.

Set-up in Bend, OR
Our comprehensive quality control process provides the player with an instrument that will play perfectly right out of the box. Prior to shipment, every Breedlove instrument undergoes a rigorous 25-to-30-point inspection in Bend, Oregon by our expert U.S. quality control team. We start with a visual inspection: checking aesthetic and structural elements of the body and components for flaws. Next, each guitar is tuned and undergoes a play test, where our craftspeople check nut height, relief, action, and string height. Based on the results of the play test, we then adjust for maximum playability. Finally, each instrument is buffed and polished by hand with painstaking attention to detail. Once the instrument has passed inspection, a signed QC sticker is placed, and the instrument is carefully packed and shipped.

Limited Lifetime Warranty
Breedlove players around the world can attest: With consistent, proper care, your Breedlove will give you a lifetime of service – and inspiration. New Breedlove instruments, purchased through an authorized Breedlove dealer, are warrantied to be free of defects in materials and workmanship throughout the lifetime of the original owner. In addition to materials and workmanship, Breedlove offers a two-year warranty on tuning machines and electronics packages. Cases and bags are subject to a one-year warranty covering defects in structure and hardware. Full details on our limited lifetime warranty are available here.

Product Review

Got the oval hole KF model figuring it would be a bit less overly bright as most Pac Rim mandos tend to be. Good hunch. Nicely balanced tone. Had the action set up by a pro. It plays so good. 4 stars for tone...for the money it's a 5 star deal. Finish is perfect. Case is nicely padded. If you are a guitar player you'll probably appreciate the wider neck with a fuller profile like I do. Skinny necks don't work for me. Sorry Eastman...the Breedlove sounds better AND feels so much better.Change the strings asap.

Beautiful for a guitarist who dabbles in mandolin

Product Review

This is the first mandolin I've actually owned, but I've played others. This one is very easy for my guitarist fingers. The O-hole gives a mellower sound than the F-hole version, but very pleasing. Very nice looking and beautifully made instrument. I like that it has a very different look than other mandolins. Stays in tune wonderfully. Nice gig bag too. I would not have paid full price of $700 for this (hence the 4 stars), but the sale price seemed like a good deal.
