A Grand Revolution
The new PX780 represents a significant step in the continuing evolution of the Privia digital piano line. A combination of a new keyboard action and a powerful new sound engine provide a new level of detail, nuance and expression for a superior grand piano experience in a stylish design that Privia is known for.

Piano Sound
The award winning grand piano sound in Privia has been dramatically improved. The new PX780 utilizes more than three times the memory of the previous generation for a more natural piano tone. In addition, Casio's new proprietary sound source "AiR" (Acoustic and intelligent Resonator) provides unmatched realism and detail. This engine provides seamless dynamics for a remarkably expressive and powerful performance. For further realism a new Damper Resonance and Hammer Response simulator provides the rich sound of the strings when the sustain pedal is used.

Key Action
The new PX780 also features a new redesigned 88 note Tri-sensor scaled hammer action keyboard. This new action features new simulated Ebony and Ivory textured keys for an incredible feel and it's three sensors capture the dynamics of a performance with unparalleled speed and accuracy. To further enhance the experience, the action and the sound engine take into consideration the speed at which different sized hammers move inside acoustic grand relative to velocity the keys are pressed, this timing nuance provides the ultimate key to sound experience.

Powerful Features
In additional to grand piano sounds, the PX-780 has many other instrument tones including strings, organs, electric pianos and bass. The PX780 provides split and layer capability allowing you to play bass in your left hand and have two layered tones in your right. Duet mode splits the keyboard into two equal ranges, allowing student and teacher to use the piano simultaneously. A two track recorder can even record and playback your practice and performances. The matching keyboard cover, stand and pedal board make this a complete digital piano that is a welcome addition to any home.

Casio continues the tradition of providing class compliant USB connectivity on Privia digital pianos. This allows Privia to be used with Mac or Windows computers without the need to download drivers. Class Compliant USB MIDI also allows Privia digital pianos to be used as a controller for the Apple iPad by using Apple's Camera Connection Kit.

AIR Sound Source
To reproduce the sound of the finest acoustic grand pianos, the new Privia series features Casio's proprietary AiR (Acoustic and intelligent Resonator) processor. Accessing more than three times the memory of the previous generation, the AiR processor utilizes grand piano samples recorded at four dynamics sampling to deliver grand piano sounds with long natural decays and remarkable expression. To further the grand piano experience, AiR adds realism by simulating the sound of the open strings when the dampers are raised by the pedal.

Ensemble Piano with Excellent Touch, Feel, Sound in a Compact Size

Product Review

Overall, this is an excellent value for the money. You can't find all these features in a piano unless you spend $2500 or more. The Grand Concert Piano has the best overall sound; although the Modern Piano has a brighter tone. When you listen closely with good speakers or headphones, you'll realize the Concert Piano has a deeper tonal range (especially in the bass notes) and a lighter, almost airy quality to the high notes. I keep the brightness level at #2, and the touch setting at #2. #3 brightness seems a little too bright (especially when you use other instruments, or have the rhythm going). The 3-pedal unit works excellent, including half-damper for the sustain pedal. I like the fact they are chrome, and not plastic. The LCD display lights up nice and bright, and all of the controls are laid out ergonomically.

Quality is excellent. Fit and finish is superb. There were no marks or scratches on anything. Everything wrapped up nicely. Don't forget to take the long tape strip off in front of the keys!

Once you get used to navigating the menus and options, it's pretty easy. There's also an option you can set that will remember your settings from the last time you used the piano. This is especially helpful, for example, when you want to make sure the contrast setting of the display remains the same when you turn it back on.

The auto-accompaniment with the 160 styles make a huge difference in playability! So this is just not a piano! Really makes a big difference! So you're not just a piano player, you're an entertainer!

Sound is mediocre from the built-in speakers. They sound very muddy, with very little brightness, clarity, or depth. The PX-350 sounds even worse, but I would imagine the PX-850 would sound better; especially with the open lid simulation. However, the PX-850 is not an ensemble unit. Best way around this is to use an external speaker system. It makes a HUGE difference in the sound! An inexpensive option would be the Bose Companion System 3 (complete with subwoofer). The satellite speakers sit right on top of the cabinet for a complete look!

Feel of the keys is excellent. Casio has included simulated ivory and ebony; with a linen-like texture. I use the #2 setting (normal), unless I'm playing more orchestral music where I want a lighter feel so I don't have to press so hard on the keys (#1 setting). Casio uses a tri-sensor technology, usually found in pianos costing much more.

A great value! For $999.95 you just can't beat it!
