Product Description

Tempest is the brainchild of legendary instrument designers, Dave Smith and Roger Linn. It’s a professional drum machine that generates its sounds using six powerful analog synthesis voices, and uses an innovative, performance-oriented operating system that permits an extraordinary level of control to create, edit, arrange, and manipulate beats in real time without ever stopping.

The performance-oriented operating system, ninety panel controls, and bright 256 x 64 dot OLED display work together to provide a tightly integrated, non-stop workflow.

Awesome solid built drum machine

Product Review

Amazing, unique, and very flexible instrument. The Tempest does one thing better than any other hardware or hybrid to sculpt complex and original unique analog and digital layered drum sounds. Not only that but its built in the USA. It can be intimidating at first but once you get familiar with some of the features you can create sounds you will not hear in any software. I recommend this machine to someone who will invest their time in learning synthesis because that way you will get the most out of this instrument. I have the Tempest connected to KRKs Rokit 8 G3 and the sound is amazing. Its definitely worth every dollar. I am very pleased with this Dave Smith Instrument.

Very in depth, steep learning curve but very unique too!

Product Review

I've had mine for a few months now. It has the great timing and feel that Roger Linn is known for but it's a very in depth instrument. It's more than just a "drum machine", it's a complete synthesis engine. It can be use as a 6 voice synthesizer as well. It comes with some interesting factory demo kits and beats. It shows some of the capabilities of the Tempest but it's really something you should dig into. If you're looking for something to use "out of the box" the Tempest may not be what you're looking for but it does have some included kits. It's best for those that want make their own sounds, kits, beats, experiment, etc. I suggest looking at some of the videos on YouTube as examples, especially Carson Day.
