Product Description

The DigiTech GSP1101 rack is packed with some of the greatest features that are only possible through the legendary technology of DigiTech.
After many requests from customers, DigiTech finally placed their amazing modeling, tones, effects, presets and incredible usability all in a rack.

Audio DNA2! The Power Inside!

Audio DNA2 While other preamp/processors take over and become the center of your rig, Digitech has taken a new approach and designed the GSP1101 to adapt and fit within your system, letting you get the most out of your setup without taking over. Digitech keeps your amp, guitar and fingers at the center of your tone. Designed not to interfere with the tone you worked so hard to achieve and adds computer connectivity and the ability to interface with all of your existing gear - this rack can be the centerpiece of you rig!

At the heart of the GSP1101 is DigiTech's AudioDNA2 DSP engine, offering 400% more horsepower than the previous AudioDNA processor. The AudioDNA2 is the engine that gives the GSP1101 much more raw impact and subtle detail to the tone. It is the world's most advanced audio processor which provides the maximum accuracy in the tone and dynamic response.

DigiTech GSP1101 - Front Panel

Professionals Asked - DigiTech Listened
The GSP1101 is the new paradigm in preamp/processors. DigiTech looked at the needs of the professional guitarists who already get their core tone with their amps, guitars, and fingers. The pros wanted to do everything from just adding a few effects to their existing tone to creating entirely new sounds with a single rack-mount preamp/processor. One concern they had in common; Don’t take over my rig like other preamps do. This required a whole new approach in design.

The DigiTech GSP1101 answers the professional guitarist’s call for tone preservation by incorporating the flexibility to be easily integrated into any rig and configured to work the way you want it. DigiTech’s unique Setup Wizard guides you through the steps to optimize the GSP1101 to fit your needs.

The GSP1101 not only preserves your tone, but it gives you access to a vast array of over 120 different models, from stompbox overdrives, preamps, and amps, to studio quality effects including luscious Lexicon reverbs and unique products like DigiTech’s Whammy. So many sounds, so little time...

Don’t sell yourself short or compromise your tone. You’ve got your sound; now get more out of your rig with the GSP1101.

DigiTech GSP1101 - Rear Panel

GSP1101 Flexibility Statement
How does the GSP1101 save your tone? By using the GSP1101’s unique and flexible preamp loop in conjunction with the easy to use setup wizard, you can quickly configure your GSP1101 to meet your connectivity and functionality needs. By allowing you to place your personal preamp in the GSP1101’s preamp loop, the GSP1101 places internal stompboxes, choruses before your amp’s input like discrete pedals. The effects like delays and the internal Lexicon reverbs follow after your preamp. Most rack mount products force you to run through some type of clean amp model changing your sound just so you can get a little extra. With the GSP1101 you longer have to sacrifice your tone and effect chain to use a rack.

Unlike most rack preamp / processors, the GSP eliminates internal sections that you are not using and places the effects in use in the correct order. You want an internal distortion and chorus before your outboard amp? No problem. The GSP1101 setup wizard quickly walks you through the setup and then internally reconfigures to meet your needs. You want just chorus, delay and reverb? No problem, the setup wizard makes it a snap to turn the GSP1101 into the ultimate effects processor.

Whether you want to use the GSP1101 as your total preamp / processor by running it straight into a power amp and cabinet or if you want to incorporate it into your stack / rig, the GSP1101 will fit your needs.

You’ve worked long a hard to develop your signature tone, we don’t want to take over; we just want to be a part of it.

Lots of Value for the Price, Second Unit I have Purchased

What is your opinion of this product?
I have owned a GSP-1101 since 2009. I bought this one as a backup and R&D unit. Also, I can take this unit to smaller shows without having to un-rack my older GSP. I will upgrade this unit to version c63 of the firmware which allows me to use custom Impulse Responses (IRs), as I have done with my older GSP. I always run the GSP direct to a mixer.

These are very nicely built. Seem very sturdy and buttons are not cheap feeling. Good quality.
Just got it today. Should be fine as I take care of my stuff.
Your general opinion of this product.
I like it. I remember Dave Mustaine saying he used one in his setup so I started reviewing them and glad I bought it.

Digitech Preamp
Only had it a few weeks, probably could drop it off the roof and it would work... its solid state. Easy to program and operate. Good support from Digitech as well.
Havent had it that long
Your general opinion of this product.
Solid, only takes up 1 UP rack space, easy to operate.
Its a preamp
Good tones from this, but I feel real tubes are better...wish they would have made the 1101 with tubes.
No paint job
No action, this is a preamp

Total Knockout !!!
Tough and ready to hit the road.
It is rack mountable and is well built for studio or on the road.
Your general opinion of this product.
Best programmable effects I have ever owned, hands down.
Feels like a tube amp. Great compressor, reverbs, amp types, tube feeling distortions.
I started dialing in my tones after about 2 weeks of study and use. It takes a little study and then no problem dialing in absolutely anything from clean to blues to bloody thrash !!!
Cool blue backlit display.
It fit right into its rack !!! Sounds fantastic through a 1500 watt rms power amp/1960a Marshall Cab.

GSP 1101
Great. Got a B Stock and it looked brand new. No rash or markings or any problems.
Not a problem yet. Good firmware from Sucks you cant route the noise gate to after the preamp or external amp, but oh well. Suck it up and buy a Boss NS2 and run it after the amp and into the return.
Your general opinion of this product.
Probably the best digital preamp behind the Axe FX. Still prefer it to the Pod HD's due to the routing options. That and the fact that it has dual processors and your delay and reverb trails off on patch changes. I dont believe this is true on the Pods.
Amazing feel, playability, cuts through the mix of 2 other guitarist plus keyboards and drums. Cleans are fantastic as well as the Lexicon reverbs and delays.

Great for home recording!
so far, so good
Your general opinion of this product.
I decided to save a few bucks and pick up a b-stock 1101... I'm very happy with it. I'm only using it for home recording so far because I have a handful of great tube amps that I use live, but this unit is impressive enough that I'm considering using it in live applications. In my opinion all the routing and I/O options make this unit extremely versatile. Given that I'm using it for recording I've got the output set on mixer mode and the resulting sound/tone is very realistic. Not to mention it's much easier to just plug this baby in and start recording than it is to mic up an amp, get the mic placement right, etc. Great unit!
I really love the the 1101 has the traditional amp controls accessible from the front panel... that's a huge time saver if you just want to make a tweak to shape your sound. Gain, Bass, Midrange, Treble and Level knobs are all right there... very handy.
Everyone has their opinions/biases, but I've tried several of the modelers out there and I've been unimpressed by most. You're going to sacrifice some tone vs. a tube amp in a live setting with this unit, no question about it. On a recording the difference is less noticable. This unit does sound very impressive though and I'm sure it would "pass" with most pros and semi-pros as an acceptable tone engine if you're in need of something highly flexible (i.e. you need more sounds on stage than are attainable with a standard tube amp). Just like everything in life... it's about trade-offs and compromise. This is a great unit and most will be happy that there's minimal sacrifice to tone necessary to achieve a high degree of flexibility if that's what you need.
I was expecting to see something cosmetically wrong with this given it's a b-stock, but everything is perfect from what I can see.

Great unit!
Quality is great for the price range.
It has been a great unit, but Digitech should really release an update for the unit to allow you to move the noise gate to after the loop. That was a deal breaker for me. I have since found third party firmware for this guy that gives you more tones and usability. It's a shame Digitech dropped the ball on support.
Your general opinion of this product.
Great 1 rack space unit for tons of tones. Only flaw in design is that the noise gate when using the four cable method is NOT before the external loop. That means if you have an external preamp in the loop of this guy; it better have it's own noise gate in that loop as well because the loop in the GSP1101 will NOT be able to remove noise from anything in the loop.
Tones are there to allow whatever you'd like to dial in.
Tone is subjective; if you can hear it in your head, you can probably dial it in on this unit with enough tweaking.
Unit looks great. Not a fan of silver rackmount units as they stand out in my rack and not in a pleasing way, but that's more of a personal opinion.
Action out of the box is awesome.

digitech rocks
this thing is built very well and i expect no build quality issues
I have been playing live with it twice a week for about a year and no issues
Your general opinion of this product.
This is a great processor. Digitech advertises it as being able to easily blend into your current set up but I use mine for my main tone and fx and it is killer i
responds just like a tube amp. saturated tubes sound and act like saturated tubes
like i said before the tone is very accurate. the twin is sweet and the 2101 tube is just killer
the blue led is super cool on stage
