Product Description

The MXR Dyna Comp is a compressor pedal designed for guitar players.
It's a signal limiting processor, which varies its gain so the output signal that you set remains constant. This compression circuit is coupled with a sensitivity control. This combination of controls made the Dyna Comp one of the most popular guitar compressors ever. For overdrive or clean sounds, you get increased sustain and superb tone.

MXR M102 Dyna Comp Compressor Pedal Features

  • Output & sensitivity foot control knobs
  • LED on/off indicator
  • Powered by the Dunlop ECB-02 AC Adapter and/or 9 volt battery
The MXR Dyna Comp is a compressor that allows you to set an output level and the sensitivity at which it kicks in. This device can produce that percussive, clicky sound on a clean guitar - the mainstay of 80s pop players - or a mellow sustain for lead work. The M-102 is designed to capture the sound and performance of the originals which it does with an authentic vintage flavor. Rack spotters may have noticed several Dyna Comps in Dave Gilmour's monster system.

What is your opinion of this product?
The Dyna Comp is a decent budget compressor. It shines for chik'n pick'n. Does a good job of keeping your punch and volume levels even across the strings. The power adapter jack is in the most ridiculous place if you do not run your comp first in a chain and enjoy a tidy pedalboard.

Great Compressor
What is your opinion of this product?
I run it always on. Rubber covers let you turn with your foot. Easy to use, built like a tank.

Nashville in a pedal.
Your general opinion of this product.
I have had several friends tell me to buy a Dyna Comp. My rig is very minimalist. But I finally broke down and purchased the Dyna Comp. Love it.

A Classic for good reason.
Your general opinion of this product.
This is a pedal effect, not meant to replace a full blown compressor. However, as an effect, it's great. It clamps down on the dynamics, without killing the attack, and gives you all the sustain you want.

Great little compressor for the price!
Your general opinion of this product.
A great little compressor at $55, not so hot if it is the same price as the next level up MXR compressor which features an external attack knob. The Dynacomp features and internal attack trim pot (see above, requires back plate access), which is somewhat of a chore if you need to adjust the compressor. Great for a $55 compressor!

MXR Dyna Comp
Your general opinion of this product.

QUALITY:
Good quality - should last for years. Metal case and solid footswitch.

FEATURES:
Compressor pedal - straightforward to use. Output for volume and sensitivity for amount of compression.

EASE OF USE:
Only 2 knobs - 1 for the output and the other controls the amount of compression. Doesn't get any easier than that.

VALUE:
Does the job for around $60-70. I have not compared to other pedals, but it seems to the job at a reasonable price.

SOUND:
The compressor evens out your output making the notes or chords ring longer and more evenly. It also makes single notes "pop" a bit more. It squashes the output a bit, so you need to adjust the output to compensate. It does affect your tone a bit, but not in a bad way. Just evens things out, and makes the sound not as bright. I prefer it on the clean channel, makes the sound full and the notes stand out, especially for blues-type music.
