    Legendary Explorer
The Explorer profile, first released as an electric guitar in the late 50s, was one of the most radical designs of its time and today originals are some of the most expensive instruments on the vintage market. The first Explorer Bass was issued in the early 1980s but only stayed in production for three years but has since become a legend of its own among metal and hard rock players for its tremendous tone. Now, Epiphone introduces the legendary Explorer Bass to a new generation with an all Korina (also known as African Limba) body for a look and sound unlike any other instrument in the world!

    Solid Korina Body
The Ltd. Ed. Korina Explorer Bass is made from solid Korina, one of the great tone woods for electric instruments. Korina was first used for by Gibson in the late 50s for the first limited run of the Flying V and Explorer. Few were made but Korina quickly drew the admiration of luthiers and guitarists for its warm tone and strong resonant properties. The new Ltd. Ed. Korina Explorer Bass is finished in Antique Natural to show off the fine and delicate grain. Korina wood is also lightweight so even though the Ltd. Ed. Korina Explorer Bass may look old-school space age radical, it’s easy to hold and comfortable to play. The profile of the black and white pickguard is reminiscent of the first generation of rare Explorers.

The neck has a classic "1960's" SlimTaper D-Profile and a 34” scale, perfect for any playing style. The Rosewood fingerboard has a 12 radius, traditional pearloid "Dot" inlays, a 1.61” nut, and 22 medium jumbo frets. The Explorer headstock—a trademark of the best rock and metal guitars--has a mid-60s style “Epiphone” script logo and Epiphone solid nickel premium die-cast machine heads with a 17:1 ratio for fast and reliable tuning.

    XR and XT Humbuckers
The Ltd. Ed. Korina Explorer Bass is powered by an Epiphone Bass XR Humbucker in the neck position and a Epiphone Bass XT Humbucker in the bridge position. Both the XR and XT humbucker are carefully wound to reveal the full tonal range of the Korina body and are exceptionally powerful and detailed—the perfect pickup combination for one of the world’s most desirable and nuanced tonewoods. Controls include individual volume controls for each pickup and a master tone, all with vintage-style Black “Top Hat” knobs.

    Solid Epiphone Hardware
Epiphone hardware is guaranteed for the life. The Ltd. Ed. Korina Explorer Bass has a Fully-Adjustable Flush mount bridge and tailpiece combo, and an Epiphone all-metal non-rotating 1/4” jack. All hardware, including the Premium Die-cast machine heads, is gold (solid nickel), a perfect complement to the Antique Natural finish.

    Lifetime Warranty
The Epiphone Ltd. Ed. Korina Explorer Bass comes with Epiphone’s Limited Lifetime Guarantee and Gibson’s world famous 24/7/365 expert Customer Service.

    Pleasantly Surprised
    Product Rating
What is your opinion of this product?
I tried to not buy this bass but it looked so clean that I finally succumbed. I was shopping for aftermarket pickups before it even arrived. The bad news is that I couldn't find any that were an exact size replacement. The good news is that the stock pickups are OK, much better than the "Hz" pickups that often come on imported basses. Sure, they're darker than the single-coil or active pickups that I normally use, but that's kind of the point of humbuckers, isn't it? I intended to play this bass with a pick instead of fingerstyle anyway, and the stock humbuckers work well for that. I had to loosen the truss rod a bit to get rid of some fret buzz near the nut. The adjustment has been totally stable and the action is great now. The stock strings were OK but were going dead after a couple of months. I replaced them with a set of Kalium stainless which complement this bass perfectly. I slapped on a Hipshot D-Tuner while I was at it. I highly recommend the factory case. It's well built, reasonably priced, and fits the bass perfectly. I doubt if you'll find an aftermarket case or gig bag that fits. The build quality and finish quality of this bass is very good, and for the price point it's outstanding. For those about to rock, this axe will do it.

    Amazing bass for the price!
What is your opinion of this product?
A much-improved Epi Explorer. No neck dive, plays great right out of the box, looks amazing (no more black paint over beautiful wood!). Been playing bass since 1965 including 60's T-Birds for a decade, and this one comes VERY close to the comfort and playing ease of those with...say it neck dive. The reach (left arm/hand position) is slightly longer than "normal" basses (no big deal). It got 4 of 5 because the pickups are not as great as the bass and required additional foam under them to get them to sit higher and parallel to the strings.

    Monster Bass!
What is your opinion of this product?
Great bang for the buck - finish is top-notch and plays great considering it has the longest neck on any bass I've ever owned - no set-up needed - plays and sounds great - the matching case is a must-have, and the payment plan lets me get the gear I want now!

I have to say I am very impressed with this bass. The neck plays beautifully and I obviously love the look. The pick ups are nice and clean, bright. I ordered the matching case, very nice too. Delivery was great, as always.
