What is your opinion of this product?
I am a working musician. This is the best bass guitar out there in this price range. great tone. the neck is super smooth. Plays better than some of my high dollar basses no joke. Great job on a cheap bass

Great playing, but totally fed up with lousy quality.
What is your opinion of this product?
So, first, I ordered the $299 non pro version. I owned a goth in the past, it was a fully capable and well made guitar. So, when I decided to get back into gigging as a bassist, I of course bought another epi, but the more traditional looking one. Always I use AMS. Next day delivery, ease of interaction...bass comes, along w a new Hartke Hydrive 150 amp, also going back....bass neck pickup not functioning. Other than that, it's perfect. ;( and the amp is rippled all across the tolex, looks beat to death. I managed to find a nearly new SWR combo on eBay, so I decided to take the savings and get the pro IV active. It comes, next day, beautiful looking axe. Sure, the final product has a few rough spots, but it's $500, and just looks great. Plug it in, nothing. Check battery, fine, amp and cable, fine. Tap the front of bass, snap crackle and pop, then sound. Which continues to cut out until the bass is punched in the back. Seriously. This is ridiculous.

Better than I imagined
What is your opinion of this product?
This is one of the best neck-through basses I have ever played. The walnut/maple combination results in excellent resonance. Combined with the excellent tailstop, it provides amazing sustain. The combination of Humbuckers with the active preamp gives an amazing array of tones with just four knobs. This is without a doubt the best 4 string bass for the money out there!

Catalog, Supervisr and Reps are liars. Print bass copy and switch price and lie. Non Trustworthy
What is your opinion of this product?
No respect for customer, they do not stand or care about customer. Supervisor no help, lying is the only thing they do best. Proof of item, price, copy, item numbers. Should of honored the printing. Did not care.
Supervisor Harold does not belong in that position. Did not care about the customer. Lying is what they do well.
Bought from another reputable company. They respect the customer and have a great attitude towards them.

My new #1
Purchased this bass 10 days ago as a back-up to my '57 Fender P-Bass Re-Issue (MIJ). This is a very well made instrument, I was pleasantly surprised with the craftsmanship. This particular series far surpasses not only Squire basses, but the Fender MIM models as well. Also, I have not experienced the "neck dive" issues most basses of the "explorer" shape tend to have. I now have a new #1.
Neck-thru construction, flush mount bridge, active electronics, all great features in this price range...but the feature that has impressed me the most, thus far, have been the tuning machines. I tuned this bass the minute I pulled it out of the box. Since then, I have put close to 30 hours of playing time into it. I have only had to tune the bass once in that time period. Stays in tune beautifully (which was a concern, considering the price point.)
For $400 (USD), this bass sounds great. Worth mentioning, though...if you are looking for the classic Gibson bass tone (which I was), remember this bass has active electronics. There is greater dynamic to the tone…it has a very crisp, clear edge to it. None-the-less, finding a tone I was happy with was easy. Master Volume 100%, Blend dead center, High EQ at 50%, Low EQ at 100%.
Your general opinion of this product.
I have played and owned basses that cost twice as much as this bass, and the Epiphone Thunderbird Pro would embarrass them all. The few things I would change are: 1.) The location of the front strap post. The post sits on the backside of the bass, and thus the bass tilts slightly forward when you’re standing. Not an issue when you are comfortable with what you’re playing, but if you are not familiar with the piece and you need to glance down at the fret board to get your bearings the bass is at just enough of a down angle that you can’t see where you’re at on the lower frets. 2.) You’re pretty much stuck with the pups…I haven’t been able find aftermarket pickups for this instrument. They are certainly good enough for playing live, I would just want a fuller tone for recording. 3.) The stock strings are junk. But that’s it. I give this instrument a 5 star rating because you will not find a better bass in this price range.
The neck is surprisingly fast, considering it's 7-piece walnut/maple. Gibson’s (and thus, Epi's) have always felt a little chunky to me...but this neck is solid and quick. Leans forward a bit while you’re playing standing up due to the placement of the forward strap post, but relatively light weight and no neck dive.
The tone is a little on the bright side and a little thin for my taste, but I have to admit that it cuts through the mix nicely.
The most incredibly beautiful instrument I have ever owned. I am a strong proponent of the saying, "It's not yours until you've scratched it." But with this, I would feel guilty about even having dust settle on this bass. The Vintage Sunburst is just incredible.
The bass was set up near perfect right out of the box, low action...minimal string rattle.

Great Bass
yes, solid, heavy, had it for about two months now... no issues at all.
the best features are the feel, the weight and the sound. Would be better with a gloss coat and a case.
Great, woody, solid.
Feels real solid. neck is straight as an arrow. easy controls.
you can get virutally anything you want out of it... those pickups are hot.
the different layers of wood look awesome, but the matte finish on the natural model leaves something to be desired, if it had a gloss coat, wow, this bass would be perfect
excellent set up

great bass.
great, have used epiphones since the mid 90's... havent had this bass too long, but no problems yet--it is solid.
the feel and weight are excellent, quality woods, this bass just looks awesome, active electronics sound great, lots of variation in sounds. If i could add one thing it would be a gloss coat(or a lower price on the natural finish model.
wide variety of tones. versatile. thick.
Solid as a rock. Heavy duty... this is an awesome machine.
hot pickups. once again, versatile.
looks good, however the satin finish is lackluster, really wish it had a gloss coat, i kinda wish i had opted for the gloss of the sunburst finish.
perfect action, set up was awesome
