Epiphone Limited Edition Slash Firebird Features

  • Only 900 Available Worldwide
  • Slash’s first Epiphone Signature Firebird
  • AAA Flame Maple Top and classic Mahogany Body
  • Seymour Duncan ‘Slash’ Open-Coil Humbuckers
  • Tone controls feature Sprague ‘Orange Drop’ capacitors
In 2017, Slash was named Gibson Brands' first Global Brand Ambassador. And to celebrate, Slash has designed his first Signature Firebird for Epiphone! Slash’s Limited Edition Firebird features the classic Firebird profile that has gone virtually unchanged since its debut in 1963 and is made with a AAA Flame Maple top and a 3-piece Mahogany body in a Translucent Black finish chosen by Slash. The traditional Firebird style pickguard is layered white and black and has Slash’s “Skull & Top Hat” log in red. The Mahogany neck is glued to the body with a deep-set neck tenon and has a standard 24.75” scale and a rounded custom “Slash” profile. The Pau Ferro fingerboard has single-ply cream binding with Pearl trapezoid inlays, a nylon nut, and 22 medium jumbo frets along with a 2-way adjustable truss rod. The back of the Firebird’s traditional reverse headstock has Slash’s Snakepit logo in gold.

Seymour Duncan Humbuckers
Slash is a longtime fan of legend Seymour Duncan’s hand-wound pickups, and for his new Epiphone Firebird, Slash choose custom Seymour Duncan "Slash" open coil-humbuckers for the rhythm (APH-1) and the lead positions (APH-2). These were Slash’s first custom pickups made with Seymour Duncan and feature Alnico II magnets and are slightly overwound for a boosted output. Each pickup has a single conductor cable, a long-legged bottom plate, and a wooden spacer. Controls include individual Volume and Tone pots with traditional Black Top Hat knobs with metal inserts and pointers along with a Switchcraft 3-way Toggle switch. Tone controls for both pickups also feature Sprague "Orange Drop" capacitors (0.022uF, 600V, 5%), the same capacitors Slash uses on his custom designed Les Pauls.

Rock Solid Hardware
The Limited Edition Slash Firebird Premium Outfit also features Epiphone's rock solid nickel hardware including a classic Epiphone LockTone ABR Tune-o-matic bridge and Stopbar tailpiece, Kluson Reissue Firebird Banjo-style machine heads with a 12:1 ratio, a Switchcraft 1/4" output jack, and Epiphone Straplocks. A standard Epiphone hard case is sold separately.

Holy crap!!!

What is your opinion of this product?
Just got it yesterday. Came in a day. The fit and finish was amazing. I got it as a minor defect deal and I can't find it. Set up right out of the box. Played and sounded amazing. I have owned and still do own many hi dollar guitars. One of which is a 2017 Gibson Firebird. It has nothing on this one. I love the Firebird guitars, but a Firebird with Seymour Duncan's and a fat les paul nwck. The Firebird of my dreams. Kluson banjo tuners, full size Alpha pots, Orange drop caps and a great wiring job and they actually work. Not to mention an ABR 1 bridge. Amazing bang for your buck. Get one before they are gone. You won't be disappointed.

Interesting take on the classic
What is your opinion of this product?
I own several firebirds, both Gibson and Epi. This is an interesting mix. Unlike my eary 00’s Epi VII, which weighs a ton, this one is rather light. The fit and finish are decent. The pickups are a surprise and sound really good., although Duncan Mini’s would have been true to form. Getting a ser of strap locks is a nice addition, but the Epi locks are a poor design. Overall it’s a solid axe at a good price
