    Product Description

Classic form, cool cutaway and Shadow's NanoFlex pickup system plus excellent playability is why guitarists are choosing the Masterbilt AJ-500RCE!

Epiphone’s Masterbilt AJ-500RCE acoustic electric guitar introduces one the most legendary acoustic guitars in music history, the mighty powerful dreadnaught, to the critically acclaimed Masterbilt series with a beautiful cutaway and a stylish Vintage Sunburst Satin finish.

As with all Masterbilts, the AJ-500RCE features a Solid Sitka Spruce top. The AJ-500RCE has a modern stylish cutaway, hand-scalloped Sitka Spruce braces, and Mahogany kerfing along with a Rosewood bridge and bone saddle. One of the great attributes of a Sitka Spruce top is that it gets better with age--and playing time! The AJ-500RCE’s historic dreadnaught shape contributes its powerful tone mid-range projection. The Rosewood Bridge features a vintage classic 1.69” bone nut. The dreadnaught’s classic profile top has 5-ply binding, 3-ply binding on the headstock, and single ply binding on the neck along with a tortoise style pickguard.

The AJ-500RCE has solid rosewood back and sides, just like vintage models. The hand-shaped neck is also made from solid mahogany with a 1-piece heel, and is attached to the body with a dovetail joint and hide glue. The neck has a standard 25.5” scale and the Masterbilt’s classic SlimTaper D Profile. The Rosewood fretboard has pearloid dot inlays, a 14” radius, and 20 medium frets.

New Epiphone Masterbilt Series guitars are just as treasured as vintage models. But they’re a lot more affordable and available! First released in June 1931, the original Epiphone Masterbilts made a big impression on musicians from all styles of music and new Masterbilts continue to further that reputation around the world. The original Epiphone Masterbilt catalog made the promise: "The possessor of an EPIPHONE instrument has the assurance that every possible precaution has been taken to build instruments for lifetime performance and pleasure." And Epiphone still makes that promise!

What is your opinion of this product?
Bought as a scratch and dent special. Couldn't find anything wrong except minor pick guard scratches! Came with all original packaging and full warranty! Setup needed to be tweaked slightly, but after adjusting neck and changing strings to Elixirs this guitar has the tone I was expecting from rosewood! Satin top but back and sides are more like a semi gloss finish! After playing some Martin, Seagull, Taylor and Takamine models in this price range I chose this Masterbilt for it's substantial overall quality! It feels and plays like a much more expensive guitar! Kudos to Epiphone

I am very happy with this guitar
What is your opinion of this product?
I love the sound that Rosewood offers, and this guitar is no exception. I use my guitars to lead praise and worship. I have another very expensive guitar but it is not a cutaway and I needed a guitar that is a little more versatile. After plugging it in and using it in church for the first time today I was very pleased with the sound that this guitar and its electronics can send. It is made like a high-end acoustic. If this Epiphone had the price of a high-end acoustic I may have some complaints, but considering what I paid for this awesome guitar and the beautiful sound that resonates from the soundhole and through the electronics is beautiful.

    Wow! Silky!
What is your opinion of this product?
Amazing! (Almost) Everything I wanted from a mid priced solid wood acoustic guitar. Love love love the satin finish. Great feel, easy to play, and nice on the eyes. The one flaw I find is in the amplified tone (which is almost always bad in this price range) I was really hoping this would be an exception... But it still sounds like a generic piezo bridge pickup... Does not justice to the acoustic tone. Bought as a scratch and dent deal. Could Not find anything scratched or dented... Then I saw them. Just a few tiny scratches near the sound hole. What an amazing deal. AMS has great customer service and solid quality control.

    Great vintage sound
What is your opinion of this product?
I bought this guitar about a month ago during a fantastic AMS flash sale. I almost didn't check out the flash sale because most companies are trying to unload stuff that won't sell. Boy was I glad I did. I was originally looking at the Epi DR 500, but when I saw this rosewood back and sides AJ 500 at a great discount I had to have it. Rosewood has a distinctly different sound from the Mahogany. Sounds like one of the original Masterbilts from the 30's. Now I just need AMS to put some more Masterbilt guitars in future flash sales. Great guitars that can hold their own against Gibson's, Martin's, Taylor's, etc. Buy one and you will be amazed!
