Product Description

The addition of a AAA Flame Maple Veneer top to the classic G-400 platform makes this a stunning guitar with outstanding playability and tone! Modeled after the original 1960s classic SG, the G-400 Deluxe Pro features Alnico Classic PRO humbuckers with push/pull coil-splitting, and Wilkinson Vintage Classic Machine Heads.

Classic 60s Era ‘Solid Guitar’
The G-400 Deluxe PRO is inspired by the first generation of SGs made in the 1960s at the legendary Gibson and Epiphone factory in Kalamazoo, Michigan that produced the Les Paul and the Casino. The SG model was originally intended to replace the Les Paul, which temporarily went out of production from 1961-1968. The new G-400 Deluxe PRO is constructed using the same dimensions and build techniques as vintage SGs and features a AAA Flame Maple Veneer top with a Mahogany body and neck with a comfortable 1960's SlimTaper ‘D’ profile and a 24.75” scale length. The Pau Ferro fingerboard has single ply binding with pearloid Trapezoid inlays, 22 medium jumbo frets, a 12” radius, and an adjustable truss rod with a ‘bell’ cover.

Alnico Classic PRO Humbuckers with Coil Splitting
The G-400 Deluxe PRO is powered by Alnico Classic PRO humbuckers made with Alnico-V magnets, which produce a slightly higher output especially in the mid and highs. Each pickup has it own Volume and Tone control with full-size 500K O potentiometers along with Epiphone’s rugged, all-metal, 3-way toggle pickup selector switch for long-lasting performance. Both pickups are also wired for coil-tapping. By pulling up the pickup’s volume knob, the humbucker will switch become a “single-coil” pickup, allowing players an infinite variety of tones from single-coil bark to full humbucker bite.

When winding humbuckers, Epiphone utilizes a double vacuum waxing process that ensures quiet operation free from microphonic hum. The pickup is first placed in the specialized wax vacuuming system before the cover is placed on the unit to ensure that the wax fully penetrates to the very center of the pickup and solidifies all parts. After the cover is placed on, it is again given a second vacuum wax bath until the unit is completely saturated with wax. Epiphone also uses high quality ABS plastic bobbins, 1010 Cold Rolled Steel pole shoes and pole screws, the finest magnet wire available.

Solid Epiphone Hardware
The G-400 Deluxe PRO features gold hardware on the Honeyburst, Trans Blue, and Trans Red color finishes and all G-400 Deluxe PROs come with a LockTone bridge and Stopbar tailpiece for incredible sustain as well as Wilkinson Vintage Classic Machine Heads with a 18:1 turning ratio. A hard case is available through Authorized Epiphone Dealers.

Limited Lifetime Warranty
The G-400 Deluxe PRO comes with Epiphone’s Limited Lifetime Guarantee and Gibson’s world famous 24/7/365 expert Customer Service. See your nearest Authorized Epiphone Dealer soon to discover the legendary G-400 Deluxe PRO!

What is your opinion of this product?
First off, this instrument is beautiful! The sounds are limitless with the coil tapping. Everything from metal to country to jazz and blues, it does it all with flying colors! I have back issues so a les paul was out due to the weight. I played a 1996 SG I bought new. I wish I'd never sold it but, I can't tell ANY differences in the way they play and the Epi has vastly more tones! If you're in the market for a new axe, you won't be disappointed pulling the trigger on this one.

Not as good as I hoped it would be
What is your opinion of this product?
The face of the guitar had scuff marks on the upper half of SG. I decided not to send it back to AMS because it is such a pain. The guitar looked like a used guitar instead of a new one. I was able to remove most of the scuff marks with lizard spit scuff remover. Over the past 20 years of buying guitars online this has never happened. This will be my last purchase from AMS.

Very nice guitar
What is your opinion of this product?
This is a great guitar for the money. It might not be quite as good as a Gibson, but as far as your dollar will take you, it’s a better buy!

I am so excited to have this color of SG. The flame top is simply amazing. I actually chose this over a Gibson SG.

Great Playing Guitar
What is your opinion of this product?
Pros:Great playing guitar, sounds much better then the old Epi SG I had in 2007. Stays in tune good, came setup with lo action with no buzzing frets. Like the push-pulls. Plays better then my buddy's stripped down gibby SG. Cons: My flame top was not so flamey with barely any figured stripes, in fact only visible at an angle in the sun light :(, also a scratch and blem paint on the butt end of the body (not noticeable). Could return it I'm sure but, it plays so darn good would rather keep it "as is" than risk getting a highly figured one with no blems but plays bad.

Value beyond the price!!!
What is your opinion of this product?
The Epiphone SG Pro is a value beyond the price. Superb playability and tone. After minimal setup it is a dream to play. I can easily go from searing metal to jazzy swagger in a second. I have recently lost most of my musical gear in a house fire. The I ran into a burning house to save my SG. That says it all. Value beyond the price

Nice for the price
What is your opinion of this product?
This is a well made beautiful guitar for the money. Plays and sounds awesome. The neck and fretboard are really fast. Hardware and everything seems solid. I really wanted a les Paul style sg and this fit the bill. It's very light yet still sounds fat and warm. I play different styles of music and this can do it all. I've come to the conclusion that not only is it one if the most comfortable guitars but also sounds like a cross between a les paul and a telecaster. My only gripe is that it was dying my fingers black until I cleaned the heck out if the fretboard.
