Product Highlights

Product Description

It’s impossible to overstate today just how radical a design the Flying V was when first introduced in the late 1950’s. After all, the solid body electric guitar was still in its nascent stages and the Flying V didn’t look like anything that had come before it.

Given that the Flying V was originally a very limited run, it’s interesting to note how many rock luminaries had one in their arsenal. Lonnie Mack and Albert King made the Flying V their signature instrument. Keith Richards and Brian Jones each owned one and even Jimi Hendrix played an original Flying V. Since then, the V has become one of Gibson and Epiphone’s most popular models, enjoyed by artists spanning many genres.

With the original V’s prices sitting near the top of the vintage market, Epiphone has introduced the historic Ltd. Ed. Korina Flying V to bring a bit of vintage goodness to modern players.

The Warmth of Korina
Employing a tone wood whose use by Gibson dates back to the original Flying V and Explorer run, the solid Korina (also known as African Limba) body adds an air of authentic vintage vibe with its warm tone and deep resonance. The Ltd. Ed. Korina Flying-V's Antique Natural finish highlights the Korina's exquisite grain, while the 3-layer B/W/B pickguard adds protection and style. Another attractive quality of Korina is its reduced weight, making for a very comfortable playing experience.

Classic Style Neck
In keeping with the vintage feel, the Ltd. Ed. Korina Flying V is outfitted with a classic 1960's “Slim Taper” D-Profile neck beneath a 12" radius Pau Ferro fingerboard inlaid with traditional pearloid dots. Other neck specs include the 24.75" scale, 22 medium jumbo frets and the 1-11/16" nut with the customary Flying V headstock housing the premium 18:1 tuning ratio Epiphone die-cast "Deluxe" tuners to ensure solid and dependable tuning.

“PAF-Style” Humbuckers
When you're shooting for vintage tone, Alnico-V magnets are the bullseye. Driven by a neck position “PAF” sounding Alnico Classic humbucker and an overwound rear Alnico Classic Plus humbucker with just a bit more output, the Ltd. Ed. Korina Flying-V’s pickup combination produces enhanced mids and highs for increased punch and improved clarity. Controlling it all is a 3-way selector switch with a Volume control for each pickup and a shared master Tone control - all three capped off by vintage-style black “Top Hat” knobs.

Hardware Guaranteed For Life
Epiphone is so confident in the durability of their hardware that they guarantee it for life. Made of solid nickel and plated in gold for a regal look, it’s as sturdy as it is attractive. From the traditional Flying-V string-thru-body "V" metal plate and LockTone Tune-o-matic bridge to the Deluxe machine heads, the hardware is rock-solid and reliable.

Lifetime Warranty:
The Ltd. Ed. Korina Flying V is backed by Epiphone’s Limited Lifetime Guarantee and its owners benefit from Gibson’s world-famous 24/7/365 expert customer service.
