Product Description

Epiphone Masterbilt DR500MCE Acoustic Electric Guitar combines traditional construction methods and historic features with premium all solid tone woods to bring you a new ‘vintage’ instrument with deep rich lows, shimmering highs and a balanced mid-range. Featuring a solid Sitka Spruce top, hand-scalloped Sitka Spruce braces, and mahogany kerfing along with a rosewood bridge and bone saddle, the DR500MCE's historic dreadnought shape with a spectacular cutaway also contributes to its great tone.

The Masterbilt DR500MCE also has a solid mahogany back and sides, which adds to the guitar's legendary tone as well as a hand-shaped solid mahogany neck. The 25.5 inch scale mahogany neck joins the body at the 14th fret and is adorned with split-diamond pearl fretboard inlays. The ‘off-set’ headstock has a ‘stickpin’ headstock inlay along with a 1.68 inch bone nut.

The Epiphone Masterbilt DR500MCE Acoustic Electric Guitar comes alive when plugged-in, thanks to the eSonic2 preamp system. The Sonic2 preamp features a built-in, easy-to-use tuner. Other controls on this state-of-the-art preamp include Master Volume, NanoFlex Tone, NanoMag Tone, stereo blend, low battery indicator and a phase switch to help eliminate unwanted feedback.

What is your opinion of this product?
This beautiful guitar is a pleasure to play acoustically or amplified. Great tone, and great feel while playing which is something not talked about enough when researching new guitars. Extremely happy with my purchase.

Incredible Sound
What is your opinion of this product?
I have owned this guitar for 2 years - I play professionally. I have had to repair the wiring, replace the end pin, change the saddle, and replace (warranty) the preamp, and level the frets. That said, it still gets 4 stars for the plugged in sound - it's the best sounding guitar plugged into a mixer that I have even played - period. The 2 inputs are a gimmick you'll never use, but the Shadow system and solid top produce the best, most acoustic sound you'll find.

Not Really "MASTERBUILT"
What is your opinion of this product?
This guitar is beautiful and -- at first glance -- a very well put together product. The solid woods and the general design of the guitar are excellent. The action is great! However, on closer examination -- and some playing -- many defects appeared. The neck joint is poorly set. The heal of the neck is not cut to match the neck joint. The fretwork on the top of the neck is flawless, but the bottom of the neck -- where your palm and soft part of the hand spend most of their time -- is extremely rough and jagged. The binding on the back is bubbled in one place and the lacquer is rubbed off in others. The neck pickup is poorly attached to the sound hole and buzzes against the body so loudly that it interferes with the frequencies of the guitar. The frets are not even and there are buzzes in three different areas of the neck where the frets are not seated properly. I cannot speak to the electronics because I didn't get far enough into playing the guitar to care.

A win/win on this beauty...
What is your opinion of this product?
I purchased a Martin during Christmas of 2016. Though beautiful she never felt right so I sold it. I wanted another acoustic guitar and did extensive research on this Epiphone solid wood DR500MCE. I decided to purchase it and I was amazed that I did not have to spend thousands of dollars to get what I wanted. She simply feels great, sounds great and very affordable. At this price point you can't expect a hard shell case so I purchased the one that goes with this model and couldn't be happier.

Awesome Guitar!
What is your opinion of this product?
First off got here in two days. Box wasnt damaged. I inspected the guitar and couldnt find nothing wrong with it. The build quality was top notch.it was out of tune but not by much at all. The strings that came on it are really decent. I'll change them out in a couple of weeks. Acoustically, this thing sounds awesome (picking and strumming). Plugged it in and it sounds great. Im still getting used to the electronics as far as tinkering with the controls on it. All solid wood guitar at this price is just absurd. I have an acoustic that was more than double this price, and the Epiphone will go head to head with it. Absolutely recommend this guitar for everybody who needs an acoustic.

Great Guitar
What is your opinion of this product?
It was as in tune after bouncing around in Fed-ex trucks for two days, the action is low, the electronics are good. I read another Review that said the tone knobs for each, of the two, pick-ups only made a slight difference. I believe that person could've possibly got a bad pickle out of the bunch or they are close to tone deaf. The strings that came with it are not bad, but I bought some Elixirs. I do believe they will sound better, but I love this guitar! Not too often you unpackage a guitar and it does not require a set up. 2 thumbs up!

Not as good as I was expecting
What is your opinion of this product?
I received this guitar and it is beautiful. Opened the case, picked it up, it was out of tune and has a little fret buzz. Not a good fit for me; it's going back. I already ordered the Taylor.

Excellent sounding guitar
What is your opinion of this product?
Haven't got a chance to if it in yet , but I'm thinking about picking up the fish man loud box artist to utilize both of the pick ups. So far I am happy with the purchase just breaking in in the fingers to get used to playing an acoustic again. Good action and great tones out of this puppy.

Amazing!
What is your opinion of this product?
Only gripe is it doesn't come with a case. This is at the top level of guitars! It plays as good if not better than the high dollar guitars I own!
