    Product Description

Epiphone continues its long history of innovation with the introduction of the 1956 Les Paul Standard PRO featuring Epiphone's P-90 PRO pickups made to the original specifications of vintage P-90s including bobbin shape, 18% nickel/silver base and Elektrosola wire. The 1956 Les Paul Standard PRO packs a powerful punch with classic P-90 tone to the bone.

    Classic Les Paul Features:
The Epiphone 1956 Les Paul Standard PRO features a solid mahogany body with a maple veneer top that delivers the classic tone and sustain that can only come from a real Les Paul. The 1956 PRO has single ply cream binding on the top for a beautiful vintage look. Like all Epiphone Les Pauls—unlike cheap imitations—the Epiphone 1956 Les Paul Standard PRO features a 14 degree angled headstock that gives you more pressure at the nut for longer sustain with less tuning hang-ups caused by string-tree gadgets. The mahogany neck has a 24.75 scale with a 12 radius and features a beefier 1950s Rounded C profile with a glued-in neck joint for lifelong stability. The rosewood fingerboard comes with pearloid trapezoid inlays, 22 medium-jumbo frets, a 1.68 nut, and cream binding.

    Epiphone P-90 PRO Pickups:
The Epiphone 1956 Les Paul Standard PRO now features P-90 PRO pickups for that one-of-a kind vintage Les Paul sound. Epiphone P-90 PRO pickups feature Alnico V magnets, the same magnets used in sought-after vintage Les Paul with P-90s from the early 1950s. Alnico V magnets provide a rich, warm tone with a sparkling high end and a solid low end which makes the 1956 Les Paul Standard PRO one of the most versatile guitars around. Epiphone uses only the highest quality parts for its PRO pickups, including ABS plastic bobbins, 1010 Cold Rolled Steel pole shoes and pole screws, Alnico magnets, and the finest magnet wire available.

    Hardware Guaranteed:
The Epiphone 1956 Les Paul Standard PRO features Epiphone’s legendary rock-solid hardware including a LockToneTM Tune-o-matic fully adjustable bridge and a Stopbar tailpiece. And now, Epiphone’s updated, patent pending design auto locks the bridge and tailpiece in place with no tools needed for that one-of-a-kind Les Paul sustain. The 1956 Les Paul Standard PRO also uses 1 diameter potentiometers for better throw, longer life, and reliable service. And the all-metal toggle switch uses rugged spring-steel contacts to ensure years of reliable service and performance. Epiphone’s proprietary output jack features an improved contact shape and heavy-duty spring steel to increase reliability and Epiphone's Deluxe 18:1 ratio machine heads making tuning easy and reliable.

    Great Guitar for the price

What is your opinion of this product?
I got this guitar for 2 main reasons - 1 - I wanted to get a decent guitar that I could work on myself and not worry about frying a $2800 Gibson due to my lack of experience working on them. 2- I wanted to get my first, Single Coil p-90 Pick -up Ax. This guitar has fit the bill perfectly on both counts. I love it! The finish is outstanding and I love it! The electronics and tone are very nice and I've got to say, I was pleasantly surprised by it. You just can't beat the price for this LP and I am very happy with it all the way around. The one issue I did have with it was that the Tone knob on the bridge pick-up had been pressed on sideways and at a terrible angle. As others have said in their reviews, Gibson/Epiphone have let there QC process go right down the tubes, and when you buy a guitar online sight unseen, you need to know that when you get it, it is right all the way around. I decided to fix the knob myself and not deal with the whole return process over it.

Smooth and crunchy after a set up .
What is your opinion of this product?
So cool. Binding and Chicago blue finish are perfect. Hardware and electronics are the best yet! After dropping the P90s down and tweeking the poles to sound like love, I balanced both so the middle position is an instant warm tone with volume and tones dimed. Action is like running your fingers across a marble counter top. Beware the factory does not set this up, I tuned mine out of the box and out came the tools but with a little effort this ones a keeper. The pu's love all your distortion pedals, add a compressor and a noise gate you lose track of time playing. Get one while you can.

    Pure Inspiration
What is your opinion of this product?
I was kind of stunned the first time I played it. Playing through a VOX 40 watt Valvetronics, this guitar sounds great. The guitar finish is beautiful and the tuners hold rock solid. It's hard to put this baby down. I like the extended treble of the P90's. I'm putting .009's and lowering the action. Everything about this guitar is first class. It sings through the VOX amp, what a combo. Epiphone makes some good looking guitars. A lot of times they make Gibsons look ugly. Well this is the 6th Epiphone I have added to my collection. They are a great value for the money and easy to own on AMS's easy pay plan. Thank you.

Great guitar for a great price
What is your opinion of this product?
Well, the first one I got was damaged; stuff happens...but AMS was very cooperative, & shipped another as soon as they had confirmation that FedEx had received the damaged one. After I put a set of D'Addario Half Round 9's on it, it plays well, & sounds as good as it plays; no fret buzz, & no sharp fret ends. The setup was just right, but I tweaked the bridges a bit anyway, just to suit myself. The P90s sound great, clean and overdriven; especially overdriven. This is my 4th Epi, and I'm sold on the brand. all 4 are well-made, look great, and play & sound as well as I could expect of any guitar.

    Way beyond my expectations
What is your opinion of this product?
I currently own two Les Pauls and I have a very decent Fender American Strat as well as a Jem built Ibanez Super Strat. But this Epiphone 56 LP Pro is by far the best sounding guitar I have ever owned. All I had to do is tune it to get that sought after tone that quality P 90s are know for. It was already set up to factory specs. right out of the box. Yet beyond fact that this is a well built and great sounding instrument I just can't get over the price.

How cool to get a 56 neck and P90s without paying thousands for a Gibson Historic!
What is your opinion of this product?
This guitar totally blew my mind! Sure it has a little 60 cycl hum, but the crisp, punchy sustaining tones are to die for. Fit and finish are perfect.mi have to say it, the Chinese are kicking major a$$ in Qingdao! Memphis ain't got much of them, except possible better woods and lacquers...
