Product Description

Designed in close collabortion with Matt Heafy of Trivium, the Limited Editon Les Paul Custom-7 seven-string features his custom sound and color. Matt is a breakthrough artist in comtemporary metal and hard rock which has earned him a fan base worldwide.

Now, Matt Heafy joins an illustrious group of Epiphone artists like Slash, Frank Iero, Joe Bonamassa, and Zakk Wylde with the introduction of this signature model, the Epiphone Limited Edition Matthew K Heafy Les Paul Custom-7.

Custom Sound, Custom Color:
Matt Heafy signature Les Paul features an all blacked-out ebony gloss finish that’s especially striking on the sleek profile of a LP Custom.

Like all great Les Pauls, the Matt Heafy 7-string Ltd. Ed. Custom model features a mahogany body with a plain maple veneer top, a time-tested combination that has gone virtually unchanged since the '50s.

The mahogany neck has a fast 1960's SlimTaper D profile with a glued-in deep set neck joint with an Axcess heel for a smooth and easy reach to the upper frets. The scale length is 24.75 inches and the ebony fingerboard has a 12 inch radius and 22 medium jumbo frets and features pearloid block inlays, which seem to practically glow in the dark against the ebony finish. The nut, which is also black, is cut to 1 7/8 inch on the Matt Heafy Les Paul Custom-7 seven string guitar.

The classic clipped dovewing headstock features the historic pearloid split-diamond Les Paul Custom inlay and a vintage style Epiphone logo in white. The bell-shaped truss rod cover is black with a shadow of white binding and MKH Les Paul Custom in white silk screen. This guitar features a beautiful 7-ply white and black binding on the top and 5-ply binding on the headstock. The fingerboard features single ply white binding.

The Power of EMG Pickups:
Matt Heafy asked that the Limited Edition Matt Heafy Les Paul Custom-7 seven string feature black active EMG pickups voiced especially for the guitar’s unique profile. The Ltd. Ed. Matt Heafy Les Paul Custom-7 seven string features an EMG-707 in the neck position and an EMG 81-7 in the lead or bridge position.

The 81-7 is EMG’s king high output pickup, designed especially for 7-string lead guitarists. The EMG 81-7 excels at high volume overdrive.

The EMG-707 has long been the standard 7-string guitar pickup since its introduction in 2001. The 707 features Alnico V magnets with wide aperture coils, which beef up the low B tone while offering a more responsive and super tight overall sound. An easy-access 9V battery compartment can be found on the back of this guitar.

 No Compromise Electronics:
The Limited Edition Matt Heafy Les Paul Custom-7 seven string features Epiphone’s no-compromise electronics including a 1/4 inch non-rotating output jack and volume and tone controls with Black Speed Knobs that are powered by full-size 500K Ω potentiometers. The pickup switch is Epiphone’s all-metal 3-way pickup selector with a black toggle cap.

Epiphone Rock Solid Hardware:
Like all Epiphones, Matt Heafy LP Custom includes Epiphone’s made-to-last heavy duty hardware including Epiphone StrapLocks, a black Tune-o-matic-7/StopBar, and deluxe die-cast machine heads with metal tulip buttons with a 14:1 tuning ratio.

Almost an awesome instrument

I don't know why this beauty doesn't have a longer scale for downtuning, and the bridge is so high for a seven string. The tuning pegs feel plastic are my only issues with this. It don't take a genius to figure these issues out in the building process. It now just sits in the corner as decoration.

Not as great as you'd hope

Product Review

Ordered this guitar because I'm a big fan of Trivium, Les Pauls, and wanted to get more into playing a 7-string. I've played other seven-strings that were more economy-priced than this one and was way more satisfied with those guitars than this one. The first issue is the scale length. I generally play tuned down a half step, and given that Trivium plays that tuning and specifically on this guitar, I figured the standard scale length wouldn't be an issue; I was wrong. Just dropped a half-step turned this guitar into a muddy mess, even after setting it up and making adjustments for the lesser tension. The guitar barely holds up for standard 7-string tuning. The hardware felt extremely cheap, especially the tuners. The tuners on my Epi LP Custom Pro are more substantial and sturdy feeling than on this guitar, and it was 200 bucks cheaper than this. The Epiphone strap locks that are included ruined and stripped out the bottom strap peg. Overall, I am wholly dissatisfied with this guitar.
AMS Responds: Thank You for your review. We are sorry that did not meet your expectations.

Truly a great instrument

Product Review

This is truthfully the best guitar I've ever played. I've had my hands on 10+ guitars and this is a blessing. I was in the market for a 7 string and I prefer the les Paul shape, I knew Matt had one so I did tons of research before purchasing and it turned out to be better than I expected. The smaller scale does NOT affect your tuning stability on the low B. It's a heavier guitar and very quality built one at that. Pickups are great dirty and clean, I do a lot of clean and it was surprisingly great. Hardware is all top notch and the access heel is so comfortable. I didn't do much soloing till I had this, now I love to, it plays itself it's that easy. It was delivered fast and all together no issues at all, the certificate of authenticity with it is one of the coolest additions to a guitar as well. Overly satisfied, I think I might even buy the 6 string version.

Product Review

Got this and I could not be happier! It is perfect for the type of stuff I play and the cut out on the neck makes it even better for shredding

Looks great and everything works perfectly!

Neck is amazing! Smooth and fast!

Wasn't very happy with the EMG 707 and 81-7 but switched them out for some Seymour Duncan Blackouts phase 2 and it changed everything! So much clarity and such a great tone.

Finish is amazing and no imperfections at all.

Greatest guitar for the price period!

Was perfect! I play in Drop F so I had to adjust it a little for the tuning but it went easy and sounds amazing!
