The Les Paul Heard ‘Round the World'
Peter Frampton was already admired as a guitarist for his work in Humble Pie and for his studio sessions when he became a worldwide superstar in 1976 with the release of his best-selling classic, Frampton Comes Alive. As Frampton’s star rose, so did the legend of his guitar, a unique 1954 Les Paul that was customized as a one-of-a-kind Les Paul Custom with three humbuckers.

Frampton’s prized Les Paul was presented as gift from friend Marc Mariana in 1970 after a Humble Pie concert at the Fillmore West in San Francisco. “Marc said, I have a Les Paul that I just had refinished by Gibson. I just got it back, would you like to try it tomorrow? It was very light for a Les Paul. I tried it that night and I don’t think my feet touched the ground the whole night. It was one of those spectacular moments where I realized this guitar is just incredible. Afterwards I gave it back to him and I said, do you think you’d ever think about selling it? He said, No, I’m going to give it to you.”

From that moment on, Frampton’s Les Paul was his go-to instrument on stage and in the studio until 1980, when the guitar was thought destroyed in a plane crash in Caracas, Venezuela carrying instruments and other tour cargo. But in 2011 in a surprise and emotional reunion, Frampton’s long lost Les Paul was returned to him by Donald Valentina, a Curacao customs agent and amateur guitar player who discovered that the instrument had survived the crash and arranged for it to be returned to Frampton. Gibson’s world famous repair shop in Nashville painstakingly repaired Frampton’s Les Paul and returned it to him, scars and all. Now Epiphone’s luthiers, with the help of Frampton, have recreated his trademark Les Paul as it looked when it was given to him at the Fillmore West in 1970!

Weight Relieved Mahogany Body
The Limited Edition Peter Frampton Les Paul Custom PRO Premium Outfit features a 50s Les Paul profile with a Hard Maple Cap and a weight relieved Mahogany body with a beautiful Ebony gloss finish. The Mahogany neck has single-ply white binding and a Custom “Phenix” profile designed with Frampton and is glued to the body with a traditional Long Neck Tenon. The Ebony fretboard has Pearloid "Blocks" inlays, a 24.75” scale, 22 medium jumbo frets, and a 12” radius. The two-way adjustable truss rod has a classic “bell” cover and the traditional Epiphone headstock has a replica of Peter Frampton’s signature in gold on the back along with a "2018" Edition logo. The body has traditional Les Paul Custom style 7-ply White and Black binding on the body top and 5-ply white and black binding on the body back and headstock.

Show Me the Tone!
Frampton’s original Les Paul was customized with three open-coil humbuckers and his new Limited Edition Les Paul Custom PRO recreates the look and sound of Frampton’s vintage original with Epiphone ProBucker pickups in the neck and bridge position.

Not as great as it should be or could have been

Product Review

Had high hopes on this. Even purchased the Custom Pro with case option. I have a few other Epiphone products that I am happier with than this. After pre-ordering and then seeing the ship date slip several times while some were getting them, I finally received mine 3 months after ordering. The excitement had dimmed and I didn't look it over as much as I should have. Some paint blemishes, Konbs were put on poorly and I had to readjust. Played very well but the other things put a bad taste in my mouth. Was very disappointed in this. Was NOT worth the 3 months wait.

Forever!!

Product Review

This is truly a guitar you keep FOREVER! Everything came together on this guitar for sure! This one has GREAT playability, for and fit,and most of all it sounds GREAT!! Even if you have multiple guitars (as do I) the wonderful addition, and flexibility,of the middle pickup is priceless!! The fact that you can "BLEND" this into or with a "MULTITUDE" of combinations. Says it ALL! The TONE and balance of each pickup is REALLY GREAT!Much value here, and Better than I expected! Thanks to AMS for making it happen! This is my seconf signature model,Bonamassa flying v,now the Frampton.BOTH guitars are excellent!

OK, They nailed it on this one . . .

Product Review

Full maple cap, proper tenon, correct wiring and PU select. I thought this was "balanced" with drilled holes and such, but this is as heavy and solid as any, and she loves Frampton . . .

A MUST HAVE!!!

Product Review

Without a doubt.. A guitar of the highest caliber. Epiphone has done it again. The Peter Frampton Model is beyond words. First.. A killer neck that makes it so easy to get around. Just right. A lightweight body that does not kill your back and neck like traditional Les Paul guitars. Triple pick configuration. You can go from the thickest of neck position sounds to the highest of bridge position sounds and everything in between. Killer hardware and finish. Beautiful case with all the case candy. And.. If you still can get one like I did... Get one of the Limited Edition 200 worldwide models with personally signed COA. A MUST HAVE!!

What a Fantastic Guitar

Product Review

When I first opened the box and case a lifted this Guitar out of it's case I was shocked this Guitar is very light It feels lighter than my Strats. and it sounds just as good as it looks. This is my first Epiphone with Probucker pick ups that I didn't feel needed changing I have a Black Beauty 3 and the first thing I did was put 2 Gibson Classic 57's and a SD pick up I the middle. I had a band mate come over and he played the Black Beauty 3 and I played the Frampton and IMHO the Frampton sounded just as good if not better and is at least 4 pounds lighter. I only wish they would have had a special case for this Guitar. The standard Epiphone case just does not do this Guitar justice. Get one while you still can.
