The Les Paul Heard ‘Round the World'
Peter Frampton was already admired as a guitarist for his work in Humble Pie and for his studio sessions when he became a worldwide superstar in 1976 with the release of his best-selling classic, Frampton Comes Alive. As Frampton’s star rose, so did the legend of his guitar, a unique 1954 Les Paul that was customized as a one-of-a-kind Les Paul Custom with three humbuckers.

Frampton’s prized Les Paul was presented as gift from friend Marc Mariana in 1970 after a Humble Pie concert at the Fillmore West in San Francisco. “Marc said, I have a Les Paul that I just had refinished by Gibson. I just got it back, would you like to try it tomorrow? It was very light for a Les Paul. I tried it that night and I don’t think my feet touched the ground the whole night. It was one of those spectacular moments where I realized this guitar is just incredible. Afterwards I gave it back to him and I said, do you think you’d ever think about selling it? He said, No, I’m going to give it to you.”

From that moment on, Frampton’s Les Paul was his go-to instrument on stage and in the studio until 1980, when the guitar was thought destroyed in a plane crash in Caracas, Venezuela carrying instruments and other tour cargo. But in 2011 in a surprise and emotional reunion, Frampton’s long lost Les Paul was returned to him by Donald Valentina, a Curacao customs agent and amateur guitar player who discovered that the instrument had survived the crash and arranged for it to be returned to Frampton. Gibson’s world famous repair shop in Nashville painstakingly repaired Frampton’s Les Paul and returned it to him, scars and all. Now Epiphone’s luthiers, with the help of Frampton, have recreated his trademark Les Paul as it looked when it was given to him at the Fillmore West in 1970!

Weight Relieved Mahogany Body
The Limited Edition Peter Frampton Les Paul Custom PRO Premium Outfit features a 50s Les Paul profile with a Hard Maple Cap and a weight relieved Mahogany body with a beautiful Ebony gloss finish. The Mahogany neck has single-ply white binding and a Custom “Phenix” profile designed with Frampton and is glued to the body with a traditional Long Neck Tenon. The Ebony fretboard has Pearloid "Blocks" inlays, a 24.75” scale, 22 medium jumbo frets, and a 12” radius. The two-way adjustable truss rod has a classic “bell” cover and the traditional Epiphone headstock has a replica of Peter Frampton’s signature in gold on the back along with a "2018" Edition logo. The body has traditional Les Paul Custom style 7-ply White and Black binding on the body top and 5-ply white and black binding on the body back and headstock.

Show Me the Tone!
Frampton’s original Les Paul was customized with three open-coil humbuckers and his new Limited Edition Les Paul Custom PRO recreates the look and sound of Frampton’s vintage original with Epiphone ProBucker pickups in the neck and bridge position.

Epiphone - The Chinese Made Gibson
What is your opinion of this product?
This guitar is extremely well built. I don't know how close it is to the Peter Frampton "Phenix"1954 Gibson Black Beauty but it is allegedly built to the same specifications. It does play great and the Epiphone pickups sound really good. It is well worth the price and I bought the Limited Edition 200 count production run that has the alleged hand signed Peter Frampton Epiphone Certificate Of Authenticity. I am more impressed with the guitar everyday I play it. I don't think I would have bought Epiphone if it weren't issued from my guitar hero but I am very glad I did buy It!

Outstanding!
What is your opinion of this product?
I know there are many who believe that Epiphone guitars are somehow necessarily inferior to their Gibson counterparts, but, as one who owns a number of both, I can state without reservation that such is simply and categorically false. Case in point: this guitar. I would defy anyone to play this one and the Gibson equivalent (and maybe even the original, if we could be so lucky) and tell the difference. Tone is outstanding, as are fit and finish. Yes, it needs a setup out of the box, but that's often just a matter of personal preference. Very nice weight-relieved body (it's downright light), and the controls (the center pickup is always on and blended in via its own volume and tone knobs) make sense and are quite useful - much more so than the typical Gibson wiring. Bottom line: you will like this guitar - a lot. Get one before they're gone.

Shocked at the quality
What is your opinion of this product?
Not sure what the other reviewer got, but I received this awesome LP this week and I couldn't believe the quality. It plays better than my US Gibson LP Standard--and sounds just as good. This guitar is killer!

Really disappointed with it
What is your opinion of this product?
You get what you pay for...It's not worth any more than a standard epi and not any better built ( china made) they can hype it all they want...It's a tribute piece to the awesome Mr. Frampton..but not a replica of the Phoenix. A custom pro with a additional pickup and a autograph ( which is way cool) other than that not any better or worse than any other Epiphone.
