Product Description

Squier brings you the welcome return of a long-vanished Fender classic in the deeply satisfying form of the Vintage Modified Bass VI six-string bass. The original model of 1961-1975 has provided distinctively voiced low end for everyone from the Beatles to the Black Keys, Cream to the Cure, and many others.

The Vintage Modified Bass VI delivers authentically vintage-style look and tone, with a few modern touches such as a comfortable modern C neck profile and 9.5 inch fingerboard radius (the originals were 7.25 inch), and three custom Jaguar single-coil pickups with notched claw shielding rings (reverse-wound/reverse-polarity middle pickup).

Other features include the model’s classic 30 inch scale (standard tuning one octave lower than a guitar), maple neck, bound fingerboard with 21 medium jumbo frets and pearloid block inlays, four two-position slider switches (on/off switch for each pickup and one bass-cut ‘strangle’ tone circuit switch), tortoiseshell pickguard (three-ply white-black-white on Black model), two black plastic control knobs (master volume, master tone), and vintage-style six-saddle bridge with non-locking floating vibrato.

Weirdly familiar yet strange
Product Rating

Product Review

I'm only giving this four stars because a lot of folks like to change a few specs on it out of the box. I personally shimmed the neck slightly and decided on a new nut and strings. Otherwise, this thing is boss. It is comfortable for bassists and guitarists alike, but just enough out of your comfort zone to get you creative. The finish on it is nearly flawless and the fretwork is way above its price point. Almost toy priced for a solid piece of gear. Most people can't go wrong with this thing and will find yourself with ten new ideas every time you sit down with it.

Great Bass

Product Review

I've been wanting one of these since 1965. This is the perfect bass for a guitar player needing to expand his sound, whether for recording or performing or jamming. Fit and finish on mine is perfect, setup was good out of the box and it has a lot of tonal variety.Well worth the money in my opinion.

great instrument, but...

Product Review

Since i bought it, I've been playing it 24-7. The one setback that this instrument has is the bridge. For me, the Low E couldnt be intonated what so ever. It was always sharp, i had to get a setup on it. they fixed the bridge issue and since then the intonation is not a problem. it just sucks buying a instrument and within a week needing a repair. But AMS helped out and made it correct, i give them props for their customer service. Definitely made me happy.

Fun, priced right- good stuff

Product Review

As a guitarist, the hop over to bass can be a little bit hard w spacing and fingering. This is a great bridge to get the tone and sound of the bottom end. It’s also fun to play licks that you’ve made up on guitar an octave lower. The price is nice and the quality is excellent. The setup- if you don’t know how to do it - pay a pro- there’s al title fret buzz out of the box, but it’s to be expected... kudos - it’s a fun!

A very different instrument

Product Review

I bought this knowing that it would be very different... I still need to get use to the... uniqueness of it. This is a bass... with fret spacing like a bass... but a 6 string bass with the strings as close together as a guitar. So if you are use to playing a bass, you have to reteach your mind to move your fingers differently. Likewise, if you are use to playing guitar... you need to teach your fingers to stretch wider. So far I love it! When it arrived the intonation was way off so I took it to my local guitar shop to have it adjusted. No complaints since then except a lot of fret buzz on the low end of the top 2 strings... but that's common.
