Product Description

The Fender Jim Root Telecaster delivers plenty of modern features for big sounds! As the guitarist for bands like Slipknot and Stone Sour, Jim knows what goes into making a great playing and sounding guitar.

For heavy, molten nu-metal Tele® style, the Jim Root Telecaster delivers crushing detuned tone with a stark utilitarian look. The towering Slipknot guitarist worked with Fender to create a huge-sounding signature Telecaster model that complements his heavy playing style, and it’s a beast—right down to its 12”-radius fingerboard, EMG® active humbucking pickups, sparse control layout and more. Brutal.

Fender Jim Root Telecaster Electric Guitar Features

  • Mahogany body
  • Flat Black and Flat White satin nitro-lacquer finishes
  • Ebony or maple 12”-radius fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets
  • EMG® 60 (neck) and 81 (bridge) active humbucking pickups
  • Single control knob (volume) and three-way pickup switch
  • Hardtail strings-thru-body bridge
EMG® Active Humbucking Pickups
For a decidedly non-traditional design and configuration, the crushing nu-metal sound of the Jim Root Telecaster is produced by a fearsome pair of EMG® active humbucking pickups.

12" Fingerboard Radius
This instrument features a fingerboard radius (the amount of curvature across the width of the fingerboard) that, at 12", is substantially more flattened than both a vintage-style 7.25" radius and a modern 9.5" radius. Feels notably flat even though there’s still slight curvature, and is great for bending notes without fretting out.

Locking Tuners
A convenient high-end, high-performance feature, locking tuners offer increased tuning stability, especially on tremolo-equipped guitars, and they make changing strings substantially faster and easier than conventional tuners.

Ebony Fingerboard
The Jim Root Stratocaster in Flat Black offers a darkly alluring ebony fingerboard with no inlays for smooth performance and a touch of elegance.

Satin Lacquer Mahogany Body
This guitar’s strong and resonant mahogany body has a finish that combines the thin breathability of lacquer with the stylishly muted matte look of a satin color coat.

Black Hardware
In a pleasingly malevolent touch, the sparsely appointed Jim Root Telecaster features an all-black bridge, controls, bridge pickup bezel, tuners, strap buttons and more.

Product Review

I have both the Jazzmaster and now telecaster and both are amazing guitars. The action is almost nothing and the EMGs sound awesome. My only gripe is that button was all marred up and I really expect it to be as perfect as my Jazzmaster for what they cost. Everything else was perfect and I’d definitely recommend it

Best Fender Hybrid Ever...

Product Review

With the classic Telecaster body and a few upgrades. Including the active EMG pickups and putting the electronics in a back. Makes for a great metal guitar with that classic feel.

Not a bad guitar but not what I expected it to be

Product Review

I bought this guitar being that Jim root is one of my favorite guitarists and I was excited and had high hopes, but I’m not completely satisfied with it. I’ve played a decent variety of guitars with different finishes both on body and necks as well as different shaped necks. The neck on the guitar (my guitar at least) didn’t feel that great. The neck where they the frets feel a little conclaved when I’m standing up and using the guitar and it just feels weird to me. Now if I sit down with the guitar it’s not bad, I can play pretty well on it but it’s problem for me since I’m a live musician and well I gotta be standing. One other thing I didn’t like was how close that volume knob is, I’d start playing and within 30 seconds to a minute and the volume knob is at zero so to me it’s not reliable to use live but all around the guitar feels nice in the weight it’s not heavy and it’s not a feather also it sounds good. If you’re used to the volume knob so close you’ll love the guitar

Not a fender guy

Product Review

I usually stay away from fender but this thing had great specs and looked great. I wasn't disappointed it plays great and the case is pretty cool. One knob is fine with me since I don't mess with those anyway however I wish it didn't need to be right where I can hit it all the time and turn down the volume.

Get ready for lots of compliments!

Product Review

I wasn't sure what to expect from a Fender Tele without any tone nobs and active pickups but once I plugged it in (and lowered the volume) I was in love. From the moment I opened the box, I was in love. The salt and pepper case it comes in is itself very beautiful. Definitely won't be gigging with the case to keep its look intact. The feel of this Tele is unlike any I've ever played. It has a matte finish which is awesome. Everyone who sees it automatically has a "wow!" reaction to it because it looks like a stormtrooper. I did have to fine-tune the dials on my amp to get the sound I wanted but definitely love what I get not to mention sustain for days. I'm very happy with my purchase and you will be too.

Still on the Fence

Product Review

First one that was sent was busted. Had to send it back and it took about another 12 days to get another one sent to me. So once I got it realized It would have to be sent out to be set up. Definitely couldn't play it out of the box. When I get it back I will update.

Just need a little neck adjustment but every thing else was perfect. the jim root telecaster is one fine guitar. don't let that it was made in Mexico that it is cheaply made because its not. very good workmanship and the tweet case that comes with the guitar is awesome as well. I would recommend this guitar to anyone who likes metal, hard rock, blues I play a little of everything and its suits me just fine.

Best guitar I have ever played

Product Review

This thing is amazing!! I have owned lots of guitars. I am a Fender guy and I was for sure no guitar could come close to my Kurt Cobain Jaguar. But boy was I wrong. This thing feels amazing. Good weight to it. Love the nitro white paint job. It should show character very soon. The pickups are amazing, without being too over powering. If you are thinking about it, just do it. You will love it. Don’t miss your chance to own one of the best Fenders around.
