Newbie buys Telecaster at age 49
Product Rating
What is your opinion of this product?
I decided at age 49 to purchase an electric guitar. Too late to be cool, I wanted to find one that would play well but be within a reasonable budget. The Squier Affinity Telecaster fits the bill. Sounds great, feels comfortable in my creaky stance, I would recommend this beginner guitar as a solid choice for those late starters trying to regain their youth. At my age, taking on a new hobby might seem silly, but picking away on my Sqiuer Telecaster not only makes me feel young but it helps blow the cobwebs from my mind as I practice finding the strings and making music. It's not pretty yet but I have all the hope in the world that the Telecaster will make me look good to my wife, my kids, and the dogs.

Not as great as I hoped
What is your opinion of this product?
Neck of guitar was off set and screws were loose as well switch is little noisey.. I know it's a cheap guitar but the reviews I've read said it was a great guitar out of the box with a little adjustment not fixing the neck.

Not too shabby!
What is your opinion of this product?
For the price this is a five star guitar. The Alder boby and Maple neck make it well worth the price. I don't believe you can even purchase a bare Maple neck and blank Alder body for the price of this unit. The frets may need some smoothing out on the edges and the tuning machines may need to ba changed out with some higher ratio gearing but out of the box it playes and sounds darn good for a cheap guitar. With a little tweeking this thing will hold it's own against one that costs much, much more costing me much, much less. That is even if I change out the pickups, electronics, bridge, and tuning machines.

Great modding platform!
What is your opinion of this product?
I’ve always been a Strat player and wanted to try a Tele. I own several Squiers so why not? First the good: The body finish is more pumpkin colored that butterscotch and is a semitransparent with a nice wood grain. Pickups are good though not a powerful as a Fender Tele (I replaced mine with EMG’s). Heavier guitar than I expected. Now the okay: The neck has a rough finish that needed to be sanded. Frets needed to be polished but not sharp edges. Tuners are good but were replaced with Fender locking ones. The bridge is a major upgrade from a traditional Tele one. If you want a Tele but are on a budget this is the one to go with. Minor mods and you’ll have a great guitar!
