The Custom Shop LE 59 Strat is a highly collectible guitar that was hand-selected by us at the invitation-only Fender Custom Shop event at 2017 NAMM. These instruments represent one of a very limited number ever made with this set of features.
This 1959 Stratocaster has been finely crafted with a rich selection of features and appointments, in addition to a heavy relic treatment that evokes decades of use, abuse and hard-fought wear and tear. The two-piece select alder body features a battered nitrocellulose lacquer finish in rare Sherwood Green Metallic. The one-piece quartersawn maple neck has been treated with a roasting process that makes the wood stable and more resonant and looks amazing. Roasting your maple neck will not only make the wood darker and pop the grain, it also warms up your tone. The round-laminated fingerboard is a feature seen more commonly on mid-60s era Strat guitars and is a nice touch that emphasizes the quality of the AAA dark Rosewood used here. With a ’59 Esquire “C” shaped back profile this neck has a bone nut for sustain and transfer of tone, along with 21 6100 tall-narrow frets installed for effortless modern playability.
Singing Strat sparkle comes from a trio of hand-wound Texas Special™ single-coil pickups. Vintage Modified Strat #2 wiring adds even more sonic variety, connecting the middle pickup to the first tone control and adding our Tone-Saver treble-bleed circuit to the master volume control, ensuring your tone remains unchanged when reducing the instrument’s volume.
