Great Bass ...needed frett dressing, band mates loved the tone.

Product Review

I bought the 2017, burst finished Gibson EB5 on closeout. Overall.. What a great deal! A Light weight bass. Fast neck, Can be played heavy or with a light touch. EB3 bass feel + a low B. Good tone all around. Simple to use, no fuss V,V T. Push/pull POTs on the V for P/S. I was looking for an expanded tone color to complement my Fender Bass. Perfectly fit the bill, US made without breaking the budget. This basses down side... The frets desperately needed to be dressed. Frets were sticking out of the ends and seemed to be only cut off during the install. I think you could have cut your hand on them if you were not careful. When I got it I knew I had a AMS 45 day return window. So I played it a few days, took it to rehearsal, Liked what I heard, decided it was a keeper ... so I dressed the frets, I’m playing bass for 40 years, so a litlle Frets work is part my skill set. I restrung it with flats. Came with rounds and they sounded just fine as is . ..but, I like it smooth.

Amazing USA made Gibson at an import price!

Product Review

Like everyone else I love this 5 string. Like the others, mine came with some sharp fret ends. Easily dressed (under warranty) by a Gibson approved luthier. The guys in my band are really impressed with the TONE of these humbuckers. The tap coils don’t really make much difference, but they really don’t need to. This monster has a wide range of voices without them. Buy it!

Great bass, balanced and powerful.

Product Review

Found myself looking for a 5 string with 19mm spacing that sounded a little different than my other 5's (a P/J and a J/J). When the new Gibson popped up I was immediately interested. After looking over the specs I decided to take a chance and order one. Thanks to the generous return policy at AMS I didn't have much to lose. When I received the bass, I could have done a brief setup and played a gig that night. The neck is a super comfortable D shape. Not too big, not too skinny. My example is light weighing in at exactly 8 lbs. It balances perfectly on a strap. The pickups can be individually tapped like on the previous EB Models and are hot as can be. I ended up lowering mine quite a bit. The electronics cavity doesn't appear to be shielded. Not really a problem though. You can hear some noise with different settings in a noisy environment but nothing that you would notice at a gig. Fit and finish is pretty good.Needed to dress the fret edges, fret are level and takes a low setup.
