A real Gibson for under $500?
What is your opinion of this product?
I got this out of curiousity. Like someone else said in their review. The last time I saw a new Gibson for this price it was for a single coil single pickup Melody Maker. This guitar is way better than that but it's easy to see how they cut corners to offer this guitar at this price. The good - the neck and action are great. The frets were a little rough but a couple swipes with my fret file fixed that. The pickups are high output but seemed slightly nasal to me. I swapped them out for some Seymour Duncan Saturday Night Specials for a slightly sweeter tone. I even used the quick connect plugs in case I want to put the originals back. The finish is a place where they saved some money and probably the environment too but I will have to customize it at some point if I want to play out. The bridge while I like the style seems a bit rough I plan to replace it with a roller bridge and a Bigsby B5 just because the shape is so different it seems like it wqnts something on the back to blance

    Much better than expected
What is your opinion of this product?
Very light weight, well set up . Mine didn't have any problems with tilted bridge. Pickups are quite hot and would be good for metal but sound OK for general use as well. Very happy with the purchase. Tremendous value for the money.

    I really like this guitar
What is your opinion of this product?
I do really like this guitar! I'll admit I originally purchased it more out of a morbid curiosity of how good can a sub $500 USA made Gibson can be. When it arrived I was pleasantly surprised at just how comfortable this guitar is. Yes it needed a proper setup- no problem.. Every guitar I have ever purchased needed that. But once setup Its very fun to play. Isn't that what's important? It's paint job is not the best.. But it's still cool! The pick ups sound pretty good for pop, metal, punk. I really like the playability of the neck now that I have it dialed in.. Frets polished.. New strings.. It's really pretty good. This guitar is not a high end Gibson. But I don't need it to be. My hope was that it was a well made fun guitar to play and in that regard it has hit its mark. Do yourself a favor have it setup properly as soon as you get it. You will love it. I can also definitely see this guitar as a fun modification platform in the future. I might just buy the blackberry model as well.

a great guitar that gets oddly poor reviews
What is your opinion of this product?
These are great guitars.. I've read a LOT of inaccurate reviews from people regarding these, and I have an insight as to why. Obviously there are differences between a customshop instrument and budget models. If you are expecting a holy grail instrument with all the bells and whistles you will be disappointed (and probably not very realistic). If you are expecting a decent solid guitar on a budget, you will be VERY pleasantly surprised. I own MANY Gibson guitars, from vintage les pauls to customshop reissues to floyd rose equipped Les Paul Axcess models. There are NO shortcuts taken with these guitars, they are designed to be solid instruments on a budget and hit the mark perfectly. They are a treat to play and sound incredibly good for this price level. The negative reviews I've seen are all based in the notion of unrealistic expectations by unrealistic people. I couldn't be happier with the guitar and intend to get at least one more.

What is your opinion of this product?
I was excited to get this guitar but as soon as I started playing it, I could tell it needed work. I got the work done to fix the intonation and it unfixed itself. Really wish I hadn't missed my chance to return it. I'll probably ended up spending money on getting repairs and new parts as I did for the guitar in total.

    Buy this Gibson
What is your opinion of this product?
First off, I'd like to give AMS props. I'm the type of guy that will inspect every inch of a guitar when I get it and return it if I find any imperfection. I've been busy with the guitar buying here lately and of the many guitars that I've purchased from AMS, not one have I returned. This Firebird Zero is no exception. So I pretty much jumped the gun on this guitar because it's a new Gibson... for $399. Why not? Wasn't a huge fan of the new shape but it's really grown on me. It gets here packaged professionally, as always. I take it out and it's ready to play. And as mentioned by other reviewers, this guitar is light. I have a Squier Bullet Strat that weighs more but don't let that put you off of this Firebird. This thing can play. The neck feels good. Pick ups leave more to be desired but I'm happy with them for now. Not sure how I feel about the new bridge. May replace if I start having problems with it like other reviewers claim they've been having. Overall, good job, Gibson.

    Great value
What is your opinion of this product?
I am pleasantly surprised after reading so many negative reviews. Maybe I just got lucky or maybe they've fixed some of the problems. The bridge on mine doesn't tilt, the action is great, the frets are decent-not highly polished but not rough as some people have described and no sharp ends. The tuners are ok. The pickups seems ok too. That's such a subjective thing it's almost impossible to tell if anyone else will like them. The nut could be cut better but that's a problem on even high end Gibsons. Not sure about the electronics yet. The first time I switched the pickups from neck to bridge I had no out put. I flicked the switch back and forth a couple times and that seemed to fix it. The guitar is super light and a little neck heavy but no worse than an SG. I got the Faded Pelham which looks pretty good. I have a feeling this "exclusive run" color was a batch of Pehlam Blue guitars that didn't quite come out the right color but so what? Decent enough paint job. It looks cool.
