Product Description

The 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue is made even more desirable thanks to a die cast Gibson 120th Anniversary badge over the rhythm/treble switch access cavity! Gibson Custom has also expanded the use of hot hide glue from the neck joint to the adhesion of the fingerboard to the neck for historically-correct construction.

Gibson Custom 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue  Features

  • Fitted with a die cast Gibson 120th Anniversary Badge over the Rhythm/Treble switch access cavity
  • Hot hide glue used for neck joint as well as the adhesion of the fingerboard to the neck
  • Gloss finish looks just like one of these guitars would like brand new in ‘58
  • One-piece rosewood fingerboards and Aniline Dye
  • Kluson Deluxe machine heads and Hot Hide Glue Neck Fit
  • Custom Buckers pickups and Historic Truss Rod Assembly (no tubing)
  • Accurate body and fingerboard binding color
The 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue from Gibson’s Custom Shop presents the most accurate recreation yet available of this first incarnation of the hallowed Burst, in a guitar that contains all the crucial ingredients, with a less showy maple top that is sometimes considered more authentic looking than those with highly detailed figuring.

Gibson Custom’s Custom Bucker accurately recreates the original PAFs of the late ’50s, using Alnico III magnets and unequal turns of 42 AWG wire in each coil for that characteristic PAF bite. These pickups clean up beautifully at the guitar’s volume controls, while Bumble Bee tone caps assist in that warm, singing woman tone when you roll back the tone controls. The 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue plays superbly right out of its hardshell case thanks to a trip through one of Gibson’s state-of-the-art Plek machines before it leaves the Custom Shop floor.

The '58 Les Paul has a carved Maple top and solid, non-weight relieved Mahogany back with the Aniline Dye and with a 1-piece Mahogany neck that has a Hide Glue Neck fit with a long neck tenon. It also has a 50's rounded profile with a Rosewood fingerboard. With the historic Truss Rod assembly (no tubing) and the ABR-1 bridge with the lightweight aluminum tailpiece, the guitar also has the gold top hat knobs with dial pointers.

This is THE Les Paul you want!

What is your opinion of this product?
Everything about this guitar is flawless. The finish and burst are a work of art on the one I acquired. Set up was spot on out of the box and was still in tune! This guitar has sustain for days...I prefer these over the 1959 reissues anyday and prefer the 1958 neck profile. These have a hefty tag, but are worth the price of admission. Thank you to the great folks at AMS for making me a very happy customer!

Excellent Guitar
What is your opinion of this product?
I am going to agree 100% with the other reviewer. You MUST buy Custom Shop Gibson to get the "experience". Anything less is, well, LESS! This guitar is everything that a Gibson ever was and will be. Don't try to put 9's on it though - big mistake - lots of problems with intonation and tuning stability. When I switched back to 11's it created the proper tension on the neck - and this thing sings.

Fantastic guitar. A real Les Paul
What is your opinion of this product?
Amazing value on sale price. I should have bought two. The 13 and 14 r8s are the best value guitars around and the top is flamed!

Best Les Paul I ever played
What is your opinion of this product?
I'm tired of buying anything from Gibson below custom shop guitars. Gibson's 2014 & 2015 series les pauls are junk and if I need to explain then you're either too young or you don't know your les pauls very well. This is why I decided to go with a custom shop les paul. I bought my 58 custom shop les paul in June of 2015 and this guitar is built so much better than Gibson's regular series guitars. If you want a man's guitar the way a les paul should be built with a fat, beefy neck and pickups that sound like the les pauls once did from an era gone by then you owe it to yourself to try one of these. The build quality is superb and if I didn't know any better I swear this guitar is a genuine 1958 les paul. It is so authentic looking it even gets the binding bleed just like les pauls from that era did because of the dye they used back then. For a few dollars more than a modern standard this guitar is miles above in quality and tone. This is the real deal kids! Those modern les pauls are junk,especially2015
