Product Description

With everything that has made the SG one of the most iconic guitars ever made, the Gibson SG Faded is a remarkable instrument with great vibe and an attractive price! The worn gloss-nitro finish gives a classic look that compliments the vintage style tone from the 490R and 490T humbuckers. The SG Faded brings legendary Gibson SG performance alive with a spirited, worn finish. Slim Taper neck, mahogany body and solid rosewood fingerboard deliver the signature feel of the great SG of the past six decades.

Great guitar - Classic SG but be aware of inconsistent quality control from Gibson 2018
Product Rating

Product Review

Gibson in 2018 had inconsistent quality issues. My guitar had a dry neck coated with a strange dust like powder that easily wiped off, the bridge was significantly uneven but was easily aligned. The nut slots are even but shallow but it has not posed any issues playing. The faded body finish has no grain filler and is purposely "rough" or natural. This is not a quality issue. Everything else is perfect. It is an SG beast and one of my favorites to play. I suggest taking a chance on the 2018 Faded and save the money since it is the same as the 2019 Tribute model in a different finish. Absent any glaring quality issues, I don't think you will be disappointed.

Awesome

Product Review

I purchased this guitar for my backup axe. In a short time it has become my primary axe. Playability and tone are top notch. Light weight but still great sustain. A must for any guitar arsenal.

She’s a player that warms up the more you play her

Product Review

I love everything about this guitar. Stays in tune with the Gibson deluxe tuning machines, completely inspected from the Gibson factory in Nashville, the playability, the intonation as well as the over all craftsmanship is blemish free. Not to mention that the cut of mahogany is beautiful with the grain that follows the flow of the guitar. And the tone is out of this world. Great guitar from Gibson

This is the best guitar I have ever played..

Product Review

..and I have had other Gibson SG's, American Strats, etc. I bought the lefty version from AMS a few weeks ago because I couldn't believe the pricing, and I miss my old righty-turned-upside down SG. Well, AMS's service was the best I've ever experienced in over 20 years of being a guitar buyer/player, and this precise guitar, though the lefty version, is the very best guitar I have ever had in my hands. Can't say enough, so I'll shut up. Get it; you will love it!

Just lousy

Product Review

I cannot understand the good reviews on the Gibson SG faded, and leave it to me, I got a train wreck. 1. First thing, not an issue really, but whoever strung the guitar, only wrapped the high E string twice, it slipped so bad, had to restring with new, not a deal breaker, but, in my mind, who cannot string a guitar right? 2. The frets. They were cut, and that's it. I can see under my magnifying glasses, they were not dressed at all, just cut only. I cut my point finger on my left hand running up the neck, and a small piece of metal flaked off in my finger. 3. The control cavity, and the pick-up cavities are not shielded at all, and boy it hums bad. Is this normal for Gibson to send out a guitar that hums just plugging into my amp? 4. All the volume/tone knobs are screwed up, they wobble when I turn them. 5. Plain as day, I see China stamped on parts inside. Did I buy a fake Gibson from Gibson? I'm sick over it, my first Gibson. I'm sick over it.

2018 GUITAR OF THE YEAR

Product Review

Well...I do youtube guitar reviews for Gibson products and rarely do I give 5 stars right off the bat. This guitar falls under my definition of the "work horse". Its amazing too, because out of the last 3 years, the faded models really seem to be the best overall. This one is no exception! I also am so happy that this may literally be the first Gibson I've ever received that was completely perfect out of the box. One of my main critiques of Gibson has been the poor quality control and receiving guitars that were NOT set up on the bench before leaving. The Gods shone down on this one as i said...It was perfect out of the box..It even had super low action with no buzz!!! WOW!!! Now that being said, this guitar just wins. The subtle "worn bourbon" is a wonderful color. The frets were dressed nicely and feels smooth when sliding up and down neck. Its slim taper, but it feels a touch more than that...which is really good. The 490s do their jobs nicely. The soft brown case a +!!
