If you buy one SG - this is the one.

What is your opinion of this product?
I love this opposed to other SG's this one comes with the Gibson '57 and 57+ pickup set (2 conductor) which I prefer to all the others. The 24 frets are nice and the fretboard is wide and flat with a thin neck (I like that sort of thing). The finish feels great and looks expensive...I bought this as an open box but couldn't find any blemishes at all. The set-up was ready to play right out of the box, which has not been my past experience with other Gibson purchases. It came with a gig bag and the tools and ditch the gig bag. The gig bag is form fitted and exposes the head/neck joint to a pressure break. That being said, for the price of this gem the included bag shouldn't even be considered. If you've looked at this and considered buying it, just pull the trigger, you'll be happy that you did. AMS shipping and service was top-notch as always with my purchase. Enjoy!

    Great 1st Gibson
What is your opinion of this product?
Decided to but this SG for the 57 pickups and was not dissapointed with how they sounded. Very articulate yet pack a punch. Everything else about the guitar is great except for the knobs. They have no resistance to them and feel very cheap. I do agree with some of the other reviews that the fret ends on this guitar could be better as you can feel some of them as you play, but it's not a big deal for me.

It's a low end Gibson. For that, it's not bad at all.
What is your opinion of this product?
Setup was OK. Intonation slightly out, but not near bad enough that I have to fix it today. Action low enough. No dead spots, fretting out, or fret buzzes. Fender and Yamaha do a better job on fret ends at this price point, always have, but still totally playable. Neck straight, neither too thin or too thick. My back loves the light SG body. The satin finish isn't as flashy as the glossy job on a $2500 LP, but it really works better as a neck finish. On the whole, the actual guitar looks nicer than the online photos. This isn't the horrible "faded" business that was on the last SG Special I had. Tuning stability isn't fantastic, but you can play for a while before it gets really noticeable. New guitar, new strings, we'll see if it gets any better. Don't like the gig bag, but then, I don't like any of them. Like the neck pickup a lot, rather more than I like the bridge, which seems too bright. I'll lower it and see if it helps. Even so, both are clearly better than a 490R/498T combo.
