Product Description

The G&L Tribute L2000™ bass guitar is outfitted with so many tonal possibilities, it’ll make your head spin. The Tribute Series L-2000 delivers the magic of Leo’s revolutionary bass for every working musician. Never look back..

When Leo Fender launched the G&L L-2000 bass in 1980, it was clear he was ready to make history all over again. Never before had such a wide range of tones come from a single bass, and throughout its evolution the iconic L-2000 has continued to win the hearts of bassists of every style and musical taste.

The foundation of the L-2000 is a pair of G&L Magnetic Field Design humbuckers backed by the flexible Tri-Tone control system, providing the sort of versatility that’ll let you find your tone no matter what kind of bass line you’re laying down. The Tri-Tone system features a trio of mini toggles for pickup selection, series/parallel signal routing and active/passive operation, as well as a trio of knobs for volume, treble and bass. With all that under the hood, Leo gave the L-2000 the kind of chops that’ll fit in any situation, from classic R&B to power-packed rock to poppin’ funk. What’s more, the L-2000 features an innovative Leo Fender-designed Saddle-Lock bridge to transfer string energy right into the body end-grain for an incredibly resonant instrument.

Quality control better than ever
Product Rating
For the cost of this bass quality is very good, I had an earlier one and it had a couple of minor issues that are not on this one, minor as in loose neck screws, and a cold solder joint but none of this issues on this one.
Very versatile you can get just about any sound that you can dream of.
Better than great as I mentioned there are not many sound that can't be made with this bass.
Your general opinion of this product.
Best for the buck bass that I have come across and I have quite a few to compare to !!
Not the fastest neck out there more like a p bass, I have small hands and have no problems, it would be nice to have a slick finish like a Musicman, I suppose you could sand the finish and use a wax finish than slick it would be !!
Anything you want you have active, passive, series, parallel, bass, treble, neck and bridge pickups, WOW!
Very good I'm writing about the clear on ash finish.
Adjust to your taste but fine out off the box.

Quality Control
Some of the details and quality control not up to par, fret buzz from improper truss rod adjustment, loose neck bolts, and hum from the electronics. I was able to fix all the above with a good set up that I do on any bass that I own but this should be checked by the factory. I realize that during shipping and storage etc. some neck adjustment may be required so no big deal but loose neck bolts should not be a problem this seemed to be a result of over tightening during assembly which require the screw holes to be repaired by gluing in wood shims then rethreading not a major job but a lot of people would have to either return the bass or pay a shop. As for the hum I removed the electronics cover checked the wiring and found a broken ground wire on the back of the treble pot re-soldered problem solved!! Note I own a couple of G&L american basses and they have been fine this is the Tribute series and after the minor work it's a fine bass too.
Materials are quality, just the workmanship needs some improvement, it is one of only basses to be both active and passive and still maintain control of the tone controls in passive mode thanks to LEO's and George's Simple but thoughtful design.
G&L's can create just about any sound you want from muddy p sounds to mid honk off a jazz to slap of a Musicman all with an amp set flat so if you do multiple styles in a band this bass is really worth a look.
The bass is a medium weight, with a neck that falls between p and jazz a slight crown and medium thick c shape comfortable for long gigs.
If you can think up a tone you can most likely fine it you have active, passive, series or parallel wired pickups if I remember about 18 different configurations more then enough to get a soud that you might want
Very good job here clean and even
Fret buzz the truss rod was not adjusted well had zero clearance at the 7th fret went the e string was pressed at the 1st and last fret, this is easily corrected so not a big deal I would always to a set up to a new bass!!!
