Product Description

Sleek and stylish, the Hagstrom Ultra Swede allows you to pull the trigger and let those fingers fly! A slender, compact body joined to an ultra-slim neck profiled in an easy “D” shape is combined with the rich and powerful sound of Hagstrom’s Custom 62 pickups. The tone is truly “ultra-licious”, both in humbucking mode and in coil-split mode for single-coil sounds. The Ultra Swede is everything that makes a Hagstrom special combined together in a platform for the 21st century.

The Power and the Glory
Hagstrom’s Custom Ceramic 62 pickups shine in both humbucker and in single-coil mode. A tight and raucous humbucker attack is complemented by a lush and airy single-coil tone when the pickup coils are split.

Ultrathin Neck
Vintage Hagstrom necks were known as the “fastest in the world” and the Ultra Swede easily lives up to this legacy. Its H-Expander truss rod, Resinator fingerboard, and slim “D” profile provide an ultra-comfortable playing surface that can handle the lowest action settings.

Great, especially for the price.

What is your opinion of this product?
This is definitely a metal guitar through and through. I like the second tone option provided with the second toggle. The action is slick and fast. The neck itself is a bit thinner than normal, which takes a little getting used to. However, I found that the strap posts needed to be reset with wood glue, as they were drilled directly in and I guess it ended up being stripped out, essentially. I likewise had the same issue with one of the tuners. However, those were minor issues, easily remedied at home, and since I filled in the holes left and fixed the mounting, this has definitely become my goto guitar for all things heavier (I still use my Les Pauls when I want that tone however. The only other issue is the mother of pearl inlay kind of obscures the fret markers. A definite great deal on a great sounding guitar overall, and were it not for some easily avoided production issues, I would have given this five stars instead. I bought the blackburst btw, and it looks stunning.

Great guitar for the money....
What is your opinion of this product?
I bought one of these, mine has a spalted-maple finish and looks great, about 5 years ago. It is light weight but sounds pretty damn good nonetheless! They do have rather thin necks, so if you are one of those "baseball bat" players it might take a bit of getting used to. The thing I really really like about mine is that it just sounds GREAT setting around unplugged. Hell, I think I play mine more unplugged than amped up!!

Thin and fast neck - a new favorite for a long time Wizard neck fan.
What is your opinion of this product?
I've always been an Ibanez player, particularly any model with a Wizard neck. My only complaint about Ibanez is most of their Wizard equipped guitars look like shredders. I've wanted a thin fast neck on a more traditional looking guitar. Having heard great things about the Ultra Swede neck I gave it a shot. If anyone considering this that a used to a Wizard style neck, here are a few differences you can expect: The neck is thin, but also doesn't feel quite as tall as an Ibanez. The back has a full on gloss finish, which takes some getting used to. The scale length is that of a Les Paul (which I've never owned) so the strings are a little looser feeling at standard tuning (Turns out I like this). Upper fret access feels a bit restricted compared to a wizard, but that seems to be entirely due to the neck not having 24 frets. I always wanted an LP style guitar, but never liked the neck. This guitar has hit a sweet spot I've been looking for for years.
