Product Description

The RGDIR7M Iron Label guitar is a perfect choice for the metal player looking for a more modern guitar that features the ultimate in both sound and playability. The RGDIR7M features a beveled mahogany body and a stunning Birdseye Maple fretboard. The fretboard also features luminescent side-dot inlays to provide a clear point of reference when playing at darker venues.

The DiMarzio® Fusion Edge pickups, which were the result of a direct collaboration between DiMarzio® and Ibanez, provide great clarity and a very smooth response, satisfying the current demands of players in today’s progressive metal scene.

The 26.5” scale length of the RGD line enables rich, thick tone when down-tuning, but still remains extremely playable for highly technical riffs and runs. Extra-deep cutaways grant comfortable access to the neck’s highest notes. With the combination of the Gibraltar Standard II bridge and Gotoh® locking tuners, the RGDIR7M features excellent stability and great sustain.

Ibanez builds guitars for all levels of players—from beginners to the most demanding masters of the instrument. Regardless of price, Ibanez always strives to offer the absolute best sound, style, and playability in its class.

With the growing popularity of the Iron Label series, Ibanez continues to tap the seismic underworld for inspiration. Working their famous RGD body shape from the chassis up, the RGDIR7M is a stunning creation of unique beauty that adds a new dimension to the brand’s no-frills made-for-metal lineup.

Love the guitar but the neck is dyed
What is your opinion of this product?
REALLY like this guitar. Feels, plays, and sounds killer. Only complaint I have is the "maple/purpleheart neck" (as ibanez says, or "maple/bubina neck" (as AMS says) (it's purple heart by the way), is actually just a three piece maple neck with the middle piece dyed. Mine has spots where the she is missing and spots where you can see into the wood grain pores, and it's maple underneath the purpleheart stain. Wish they would say that and not mark the price up so high, throwing that factor in should really knock about $200 off the price. But great guitar, otherwise!

Nice looking guitar! Needs some quality control.
What is your opinion of this product?
The color and matte finish was nice. Liked the birds eye maple fretboard. Need to play through a tube type of amp to see if I like the p/u's. I have an air Norton and tone zone in my other prestige models and they sound great. Volume knob was very loose, and had a bit of roughness to it when I turn the volume knob. Action was a bit high and did not like the way it felt from the 12 fret to the 20 fret. I lowered the action and was better. Possibly needs a truss rod adjustment. Wanted the guitar to acclimate since I live in a higher humidity area. May make another review after playing through different amps.
