Variax Standard is a versatile tool!

What is your opinion of this product?
Out of the box not bad. After putting my brand of strings on and setting the intonation it works perfectly. I use it with a Firehawk pedal. I am a one man band that sometimes travels by airplane to the gig. It is perfect for me I only have to bring one guitar! The acoustic sounds are nice I have it set up so the firehawk changes the guitar settings it is programmed into my patch settings. I have drop D and Eb tunings set up they work perfectly. The guitar models are nice I'm using mostly Stratocaster and Les Paul models. It is perfect for my solo gig. I bought it from AMS recently.

Multi Trick pony with caveat's
What is your opinion of this product?
Well built and most models are excellent , but you need a higher action if you want usable acoustic modeling....If you're use to a higher action on you're electric guitars you'll be set, but like I who requires a lower action and lighter gauge strings due to damage fretting arm, which usually means such a low action that I do get fret buzz which does not bode so well for the acoustic modeling, beside that when I have raise the action high enough to stop fret buzz (note: I did a complete setup after purchase) the acoustic models still were lack luster to my ears. I think personally this Ax is overpriced considering the compromise that has to be met to function and sound decent on all models.

Not that great
What is your opinion of this product?
The guitar is built great. The magnetic pickups are awesome. Well built guitar. BUT..... Here's my problem. The modeling is awful! If you play metal or palm mute a lot, this is not for you. Until Line 6 gets the palm mute problem solved, it's not for me. I will be returning mine and getting something different. High hopes but fell short....

Guitar arrived with zero set up - really ?
What is your opinion of this product?
So I have owned a line 6 guitar before and was excited about getting a new model....my excitement faded when the guitar arrived with ZERO set up. The saddles of the bridge were almost pointing total to the sky with strings ami.e off the fretboard. That's unacceptable in a guitar of this price. So set it up and here are my impressions. Nice solid guitar. Fretboard is nice and fast. The tone off the analog setting makes it a great guitar even without the electronics. The various guitar sounds are solid except for the acoustic that just sounds like a chorus of sorts on the 12 string settings. Like the different tuning settings. Is nice to be able to switch the turnings. Have been playing in a country cover band so this gives some great flexibility for me. Also, the tele and resonator settings add greatly to my sound. There is also a banjo and sitar setting. The banjo is standard banjotar with sounds ehhh ok and is a least usable. The sitar just sounds like an effects box

Great value!
What is your opinion of this product?
I ordered a used JTV89 from eBay that had issues from some damage, but I knew I really liked the guitar...I just couldn't bring myself to pay the $11-1200 price tag for a new one. So I started looking at the Variax Standard, and after reading a post from a Line 6 employee, decided to go ahead and order one. I am glad I did! Plays excellently, right out of the box...did not have to set it up at all. It feels and sounds just like a strat, (I have owned a couple) with the magnetic pickups...and the electronics take you into a whole new dimension! My personal favorite is the Tele...awesome sound. I have a 77 Les Paul, and the Lester in this sounds better than the real thing! I wanted it to use for a duo gig I do a couple of times a month, to save having to drag 2 or 3 guitars along, (plus we do some alternate tunings that I'm hoping this will help out on). I'm still trying to get the hang of the "virtual capo" but when I get it to hit...it is excellent. Don't hesitate to try one!
