Product Description

Designed as an alternative to the traditional Ovation Elite series, the Ovation 1778TX Elite T Cutaway Acoustic Electric Guitar is lightweight, resilient, and offers maximum performance potential and unique styling.

The scalloped X bracing and AA grade solid spruce top on the 1778TX lends tremendous power to the soundboard, and the rock maple neck profile has been slimmed down to give it a look and feel more appealing to electric players.

Shedding the classic multi-piece hardwood epaulet sound hold decorations, the 1778TX incorporates a simpler, untrimmed, 11-hole pattern that enhances the low and mid range punch. Other noteworthy features include Ovation’s signature multi-soundholes (bass side only), rosewood fretboard with black stain bridge and the OP Pro preamp.

Plus, an ultra light, yet incredibly durable, textured enamel finish is wrapped around the entire back and top to put the finishing touch on this amazing guitar.

The onboard Ovation OCP-1K pickup delivers exceptional balance note-to-note, and classic Ovation tone for a beautiful plugged-in sound, and the OP-Pro preamp system was designed to work specifically with the OCP-1K pickup. This offers you a range of features that will enhance your performance in any venue.

OP-PRO Onboard Preamp and Tuner
Designed in collaboration with Al DiMeola and Melissa Etheridge, the OP-PRO preamp combines state-of-the-art audio quality with guitarist-friendly features, including EQ and tuning capabilities, for a preamp that should please even the most discriminating player.

Ovation Guitars
Ovation guitars first captured the interest of professional musicians who wanted an acoustic guitar with greater projection on stage. The most visible of these guitarists in the late '60s was Glen Campbell. Every week Glen and his Ovation were welcomed into millions of homes around the country, as America tuned into The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour.

In the beginning only about 15% of the Ovation guitars had pickups. Ten years later, 90% of our guitars were acoustic/electric. The truly amazing thing is that it also took about 10 years before any of our competition began to offer acoustic/electric models as standard in their line.

While the Ovation pickup has remained the same, the electronics have kept pace with the players' needs and sound reinforcement technology. Over the past 25 years, Ovation has maintained its leadership as the dominant acoustic electric guitar in the world.

What is your opinion of this product?
This guitar sounds, plays and looks awesome. I had the cheaper red one in afganistan while deployed. It took a beating but still played and sounded great. This guitar is with me at all times. Out of the box it was setup perfect as always with this brand.

Great buy on a great guitar
What is your opinion of this product?
Ovations are great guitars. I own other models also. This Ovation is even easier to play than my older Ovation. It is ready to go right out of the box. Sounds great, even better plugged in. Was a little concerned of condition of guitar upon arrival, shipping box and guitar box had serious damage to them. But, guitar was not damaged. Overall, couldn't be happier with guitar, highly recommend Ovation.

A great guitar at any price!
Your general opinion of this product.
I have owned this guitar for two years now and can say that this is truly a great guitar. The sound is excellent plugged or unplugged. I have been and active musician since the early 70's so I have had some experience with a lot of guitars.
A very well made guitar. In my time with it I have never had a problem at all.
Everything feels fine. High quality components and hardware. It took me a little bit to get used to the round back but it's never been a real problem.
The tone is wonderful. It's a full tone despite the mid depth bowl. Plugged in you can get about any tone that you can use with the equalizer.
The action was good out of the box but I wanted it a bit lower so I removed one of the shims from under the pick-up. Now the action is just the way I like it and there's no fret buzz.
It looks great. Very high quality finish and fit!
It is about the toughest acoustic guitar that I have ever owned. All the hardware and components show virtually no ware after twoo years of regular play.

MY FIRST OVATION
Yes, I think this guitar is well-made. It appears to be durable and will last down the road.
I just purchased it , so cannot answer at this time. However the floor model I tried had been there for quite awhile and was probably knocked around by many people and still played and sounded great.
Your general opinion of this product.
Due to economic stress I unfortunately had to sell my best 6 string acoustic-electric Taylor, so as a gigging player needed a replacement quickly. This black beauty caught my eye and I was really impressed with its look , feel and sound. It sounds good unplugged and terrific through my amp. I am very happy with this ax
This Ovation has a great feel; I love the neck which reminds me of the easy action of an electric. The control panel is easy to access and well-done for this reasonably priced guitar.
The overall tone is well balanced and the electronics are very substantial with plenty of power.
I was looking for a black guitar and I really like the finish on this one, I don't think it looks cheap or plastic-like as others have suggested.
The action out of the box was good although I will probably have a tech do a setup after awhile as all guitarist have diverse preferences as far as action is concerned.

Nice Guitar not sure its worth the extra money
seems to be of good quality
only had a couple weeks don't see reliability being an issue of concern
Your general opinion of this product.
Plays nice and sounds nice. I always wanted an ovation and I finally have one. The rounded back does make it a bit slippery to play when sitting down. I never play standing up or with a strap so kinda not really digging it slipping around on my leg.The action is pretty good not quite sure what i was hoping for. Im not totally sure that its worth the extra money over the celebrity.
its light and feels good. like a said earlier the rounded back which is of course all ovation is kinda slippery when playing sitting down.
very nice and mellow over all tone. Havet really played much with it plugged in.
its a flat black finish so kinda hard to mess that up. kinda wishing i had gone with one of the others though since it makes the front of the guitar looks like plastic like the back
Was decent typical ovation maybe was hoping a little lower but still really good for an acoustic guitar
