Product Description

For the first time, the high gain Peavey 6505 series amplifier is available in a 1x12 combo amp configuration. The Peavey 6505 - the amplifier used by metal stars Trivium, Machine Head, Bullet For My Valentine and many more - will now be available in a 60-watt combo with two channels and an extensive feature set.

Peavey 6506 Plus 112 Combo Amp Features
  • 60 watts (RMS)
  • 16, 8, or 4 ohms (switchable)
  • Five 12AX7 preamp tubes
  • Two 6L6GC power amp tubes
  • Footswitchable lead/rhythm channel select
  • Effects loop
  • Separate 3-band EQ on each channel
  • Separate Resonance and Presence controls for each channel
  • Rhythm channel: pre-/post-gain, footswitchable Crunch boost
  • Lead channel: pre-/post-gain controls
  • Genuine Accutronics 3-spring reverb
  • Integrated MSDI microphone-simulated XLR direct interface
  • One 12 inch Sheffield speaker
  • Top handle
  • External speaker outputs
The 6505 Plus 112 combo harnesses the full gain and legendary tone of the Peavey 6505 Series, which since 1991 has defined the sounds of extreme rock guitar, into a format that is equally suited to clubs, rehearsal rooms and studios. Five select 12AX7 preamp tubes and a pair of 6L6GC power-amp tubes provide the tonal foundation for the 6505 Plus 112 combo, while patented circuitry such as Peavey's Resonance control tweak its legendary tone.

Both the Lead and Rhythm channels feature independent three-band EQ, pre/post gain controls and Presence and Resonance adjustment. The Rhythm channel also includes a footswitchable Crunch boost. The 6505 Plus 112 combo also features the Peavey MSDI microphone-simulated direct interface, which eliminates the need for miking by allowing users to route the amp's signal directly to a recording device or mixing console.

Additional features include three-spring reverb, effects loop and external speaker outputs, plus a 12 inch Sheffield loudspeaker in a sealed-back cabinet that offers maximum resonance and sound projection.

The extensive Peavey 6505 artist roster includes Machine Head, Trivium, Bullet For My Valentine, Black Tide, Evergrey, Unearth, Story of the Year, Bleeding Through, Job For A Cowboy, Black Stone Cherry, In Flames, Gojira, Daath, Divine Heresy, Evergreen Terrace, The Devil Wears Prada, Bury Your Dead, All That Remains, Demon Hunter and many more.

Sounds better every time I use it!

Product Review

This was my first tube amp and I will never look back. Don't let this thing fool you simply because it's a combo amp, it gets LOUD. I usually keep the Post (output volume) between 1-1.5 due to neighbors within close proximity, and it still sounds amazing. I was a complete tube noob before experiencing this so I wasn't aware of the break-in time for tubes. When I first used it I thought it was pretty average in sound, but let me tell you, every time I plug my guitars into this, it sounds even better than the last time. The 6505+ combo is capable of many great tones, even cleans, with the obvious shining moment in the metal tones it can produce. My two go-to guitars I use are a Schecter C-7 Hellraiser FR-S with active pickups and an Epiphone Les Paul Standard PlusTop Pro with passives and they both sound equally amazing through this amp, I can't praise this amp enough. If I had to think of one con, it would be the exclusion of the 2-button footswitch in the box as it can be rather hard to find as most of the retailers that sell it show "available soon" so unless you get lucky and find one secondhand, you may have to wait for it to become available. Please note that the 3-button footswitch designed for the 6505+ head will not work with this combo, it has to be the 2-button one. I don't run any effects through this currently as I firmly believe it doesn't need them at all for a purely metal tone, however, one pedal I would recommend is a noise gate. With my guitar in my lap with no fingers on the strings or any interaction at all, there's a squeal that starts to develop and get louder the higher the Pre (gain) knob is set which is easily muted with a hand over the strings but some "extra" sounds can sneak in when preparing your fret hand positioning when learning new riffs or whatnot. A noise gate, such as the Decimator II G-String, will negate this completely and I'm not affiliated with ISP Technologies at all, the Decimator II was just the noise gate I've seen used in demos and the one I will likely be purchasing next. All in all, if you've only used solid state or modeling amps in the past, you owe it to yourself to give this tube combo a shot. You will not be disappointed. The prices for tube amps in general always tend to be higher than their solid state counterparts, but now I know why. At $800, this is a steal. 100/5 Stars!

Monster in a black box

Product Review

Unbelievable tone and sensitivity....this amp is way under priced. I’ve been playing 30 years and have owned several Marshall’s as well as Mesa Boogie. This thing hangs with the best

BETTER THAN ADVERTISED

Product Review

All the good things I ever read, heard or saw about this amp are true ... and it still exceeded my expectations. This dude really packs a wallop. Playable in any setting or venue. Excellent, sturdy build and looks great. Very responsive. So far, it seems to me you could play any kind of music on it, but it's definitely perfect for metal.

Great Peavey tone!

Product Review

This amp has great distortion and the clean tone is much better than the 6505 head. The separate tone controls for each channel allow you to tailor your tone for a variety of music styles. I love this amp, would have given it 5 stars but the reverb is not very responsive.

I got more than I expected; in the best ways

Product Review

I bought this amp as it is synonymous with high gain face melting metal tones, but I found through the clean channel it's much more versatile than imagined. You can go from playing Meshuggah to Clapton once you get dialed in, and it's very pedal friendly. Great amp in my opinion.
