great for our acoustic trio
Your general opinion of this product.
it's Pro-Mark!
very well made. However, once the dowels start chipping away, they will begin to feel unbalanced.
get the right one for your situation. And buy a back up pair.
muted, not so sharp

Changes your dynamics.
Your general opinion of this product.
Some drummers use these for the different sound they create. Others, like me, use them as a means for volume control when playing in smaller settings.
Well made. The only issue is that once the outer dowels start wearing out and breaking off, the playability starts going down exponentially. At least you are given a heads up it's time to replace them as opposed to a traditional drumstick that can snap without warning.
I like how these rods keep me from sounding too loud when accidentally striking too hard. Great for small venues and intimate settings. Their downside is that they don't do well at rim-clicking, and are a little too soft for woodblock or cowbell use.
Kind of a "clicky" sound somewhere between solid drumsticks and brushes.
Nice colorful look without being flashy.
About the same cost as a decent set of sticks.

can't live without em'
these sticks or rods are well made and with a little help will hold up to very aggessive playing..the help is this...i use electrical tape and or shrink wrap starting about 2" from the end of the rod up onto the small edge of the red portion...with this set up i am able to play hard for long hours without the any dowel breakage..they are not inexpensive or are they cheap...if ya think about what a drum stick...or rod...in this case....goes through on one gig...these sticks hold up well for me..
i use these rods in varing sizes almost exclusivly...i can maintain intensity while reducing volume in small venues or visa versa...and not overpower my bandmates or the audience..they have great rebound on my set and cymbals(i prefer B8's)..i am able to get great tone with all the sizes..the cool rods are a little lite for some venues....i do a lot of rim shots...and set up as mentioned above (taped)...these rods produce great sound i.e. tone and do not come apart...they are comfortable in my hands..which are not very large..if i need to use sticks i use hornets up to 2b...these rods have held up well for me over the years...
my rockabilly set is a small tama stage star?? unit..my heads are evan's tuned with rings..i prefer regular B8 cymbals..with my set up and these rods i get a warm..clean..phat sound..the rim shots are full..clean...crisp...i can get my B8's to sing and i can feel the cymbals at a certain point in my hands...very cool...i can push the crashes with clean sustain...these are great units..these rods....
Your general opinion of this product.
personally i love these rods...they suit what i hear in my minds ear...they are not for everbody...fur sure..if you have an extra few dollars try em'...i would recommend the lightning rods as they are a bit heavier and have some guts..punch and clarity...at least for starters...just tape em' up..if they are to loud just back off a bit...if your a jazz, worship, or any player that needs clarity and definition with a softish edge..i'd try em'....overall in my opinion...and its just that...i have tried most of the rod based sticks and these are the top of the heap...i luv em'..................
for me these rods are a great value..i can get the sound i want..they hold up very well..and suit my playing skills well...generally purchasing through online companies reduces the cost..if i buy them locally its 2x what you charge..but when and if i have to..i pay full retail...no complaints..well some...these are the sticks (rods)i use 99% of the time...worth every penny...to me...
i just have the rods...cool,hot,lighting,and thunder...they look pretty much like the photos...the thunder rods are a hand full..the cool rods like 7a's...all the rods are well made and look as such...

An excellent tool for every serious drummer
Your general opinion of this product.
Hot Rods give a more distinctive sound than brushes both on the cymbals and drums. They sound great playing on softer tunes and you can even hit rimshots for emphasis when needed.

way too expensive for the service they provide
Your general opinion of this product.
ProMark is robbing us drummers with this product. I love 'em but they don't last 20 minutes without starting to come apart. If you use them as they're recommended (for something louder than brushes) they begin to break immediately. 5$ a pair would be too much for this. Great sound, too expensive.
