Product Description

PRS and Holcomb have worked closely together to develop a truly unique guitar for the SE Series lineup. “With my SE signature model, we managed to capture all of the defining characteristics of my Maryland-made guitar and turn it into a streamlined, less-costly package. It is an incredibly special instrument, and one that is the primary focus of my rig in the studio and onstage.” – Mark Holcomb, Periphery.

Mercilessly Addictive! The band Periphery has become a force to be reckoned with in the progressive metal scene thanks to their complex rhythms and soaring melodies. Guitarist Mark Holcomb helps achieve this full, lethal sound with his PRS guitars and signature Seymour Duncan Alpha and Omega pickups.

The SE Mark Holcomb model truly stands on its own in the PRS lineup and delivers addictive playability thanks to some unique specifications, including a 24-fret, 25.5” scale length wide thin satin maple neck with 20” radius ebony fretboard. Holcomb’s signature pickups provide the right amount of output and articulation whether you’re playing sophisticated chords or solos and whether you’re playing alone or working in the mix of a band. Other specifications include a quilted maple veneer, black chrome hardware, and a 3-way blade pickup switch with push/pull tone knob for coil splitting.

This guitar sounds, feels, and looks absolutely beautiful. Straight out of the package the guitar was ready to play. It's great for some heavy metal tones, and even crisp, clean playing.

Worth Every Penny

Product Review

Wow Just Wow, much better than I expected as it is much better than a standard SE model and so much easier to play. The neck is flat, but not as flat as an Iron Label Ibanez, but close and it just feels perfect for phrasing your notes. PRS did am amazing job here the pickups are mean and can still clean up well. One of the best guitars I have played in the price range. Rock on Mark, thanks PRS this one is a keeper!!! Elric Phares Tech Of Tomorrow

Issues out of the box

Product Review

I was very excited to receive this guitar as I had played several of them and was in live with them. Upon receiving mine, which was packaged very well, I unzipped the included gig bag to find that the zippers are broken. They dont zip or stay zipped, and they bind. Okay, not a huge deal. I removed the guitar from the bag to find that it was covered in smudges and finger prints, and there was an accumulation of dirt or...whatever on the fretboard and around the frets. It looked like a guitar that had been played quite a bit and then stuffed into a box and shipped to me. Keep in mind, I ordered a brand new guitar, and what arrived is an almost two year old demo model (age indicated by serial number). Straight out of the box, the action was high. Ridiculously high. Like almost 1/2 inch at the 12th fret. The intonation was appalling, each string being almost a half step sharp. The neck had so much bow in it I dont know how it didn't crack. The cheap plastic nut is one of the most horrifying things I've ever seen on any guitar, let alone one costing $1k. The slots for the D and G strings were cut far too low so the strings were buzzing at the first fret. And the second. And the third. The nut was filed poorly and had little plastic bits hanging off, and I can see where whoever was filing the nut gouged the fretboard at the first fret. If this were a $300 guitar, I would be disappointed. At THIS price, I am furious. I know my guitar is a fluke because I've owned and played other PRS guitars and I have dealt with AMS in the past and have never been disappointed. But this is beyond ridiculous. I shouldn't have to spend hours upon hours working on a $1k guitar to get it to be playable.

Coming from my Fenders and Gibsons, this guitar was a smooth transition. VERY player friendly! Not to mention a beautiful finish. Even though it’s not a standard model PRS did not disappoint at all! Buy it you’ll be happy you did!

It should have cost more $$...

Product Review

I received an email that the guitar was left at my house. I rushed home and plugged it in right away . An AMAZING guitar that is difficult to put down ! My Ibanez Prestige has taken a break since this guitar arrived. It looks and plays like a much more expensive guitar . The gig bag that comes with it is really nice too . You won't be disappointed !

Perfect out of the case’

Product Review

Perfects setup and tuning out of the box for my bands tuning (drop C). Everything you could want in a strong heavy music guitar. Fret board with binding and birds belongs on higher priced series. Timers are dead stable. Bridge is simple but smooth and not intrusive or rough on the picking hand. Flames top, coil tap. Dimarzio alpha omega are great and you don’t need or would want to spend 350 bucks to upgrade. Used this live and studio and it stacks up with any K brand guitars that are 3 times the price. Could not ask for anything besides maybe they could toss in a hard case at this price point but it seems most guitar makers are shifting to bags. The bad is quality at least. Even if you’re not into signature models because of all the ebmblazing of the players names and bands, simply grab - 2 dollars trust rod cover.. Cheaper than your phone bill with AMS payments. Pretty sure no other guitar come in this juicy brisket looking finish. Satin finish on back of the

Great guitar

Product Review

Excellent guitar, impeccable workmanship, I couldn't find a scratch, ding or blemish. It reminded me of the quality I saw when I purchased my Gibson Les Paul Custom in 1977. The frets are nicely polished and the balance is good. Unlike an SG it stays where you put it without killing your back. The finish is excellent, be careful when you open it as the pics online don't do it justice. It's a beautiful guitar that plays and sounds great. the neck is a little on the chunky side but not quite as thick as a '58 Paul, don't let anyone tell you it's a "thin" neck. String spacing is also much like a LP Custom and not crowded like some other popular models. The Seymour Duncan's are a bit ballsier than typical PRS EMG's, especially the bridge position. They also do well when playing clean. The tuners and bridge are solid. The ebony fretboard, while not as black as some ebony, is just as slick. My biggest gripe is it's not made in the USA. Don't wait like I did, buy it!

Worth twice the price

Product Review

Fantastic guitar. Matte finish on neck is lighting fast without getting sticky. Actual set of Alpha and omega Seymour Duncan pickups not some generic nonsense. Prefect scale and setup if you play drop c to drop d. Great quality top and paint. Perfect tone and playability. I have found zero issues, even the most picky cannot be found.
