JC Clean: The Benchmark in Clean Guitar Tone
For 40 years, players around the world have revered the iconic clean voice and huge stereo sound of the JC-120 Jazz Chorus amplifier. With the JC-40, you can now enjoy this genuine, industry-standard tone in a scaled-down amp with innovative modern refinements. Two independent power amps and custom-designed 10-inch speakers deliver punchy stereo sound that won't get buried in the band, while durable, road-tough construction ensures years of reliable operation on stage and in the studio.

Famous Stereo Chorus and Other Effects
Beyond its stellar clean tone, the JC-40 includes onboard effects, all newly refreshed for enhanced performance. The trademark Dimensional Space Chorus stereo effect fills the stage with immersive 3D sound, and now offers selectable fixed or manual modes for increased tonal range. Renewed vibrato and reverb effects are on hand, and both operate in stereo for rich, deep performance. There’s built-in distortion as well, updated with a smooth, satisfying tone that’s great for all types of music.

Stereo Input for Multi-Effects, Modelers, and Synths
With its front-panel stereo input, the JC-40 allows players who use stereo effects devices to achieve wide, inspiring sound without having to carry around two separate amps. The amp’s rich clean tone lets you get the most out of external stereo pedals like delays, reverbs, and various modulation effects. It’s also perfectly suited for advanced gear that employs amp modeling, multi-effects, and/or synth capabilities, such as the GT-100, GP-10, and ME-80 from BOSS and GR-55 guitar synth from Roland.

    Ideal for Pedal-Based Players
If you create your sound with stompbox pedals, there’s no better platform than the classic JC clean amp. The rich, neutral sound won’t color your basic guitar tone, perfect for hearing exactly what your pedals put out.

    Get Connected
The JC-40’s rear panel is filled with connectivity options. There’s an effects loop for patching in mono or stereo effects, and you even have your choice of serial or parallel operation. Line Out jacks give you a convenient mono or stereo feed to a mixing board or recorder, while the headphones jack is great for quiet practicing with your setup late at night or on the road. There’s also support for optional footswitches, allowing you to easily turn the JC-40’s chorus/vibrato, reverb, and distortion effects on/off while performing.

What is your opinion of this product?
Probably a great amp if you something specific in mind to use it for. In a home studio for example or to run certain effects. As for a gig amp --nah - not unless your going to run it through a PA - it's not going to keep up with a quiet drummer much less a pounder.

    I love my Roland J C
What is your opinion of this product?
I have owned a Roland J C 77 for 35 years many amps have come and gone over the years, this Roland has thousands of miles on it but still has that MAGIC sound its still used on a regular basis, but I am going to retire it to my Music room. I have just ordered a J C 40. Stay tuned for my review.

    I am impressed.
What is your opinion of this product?
This amp is impressive to say the least, the reverb and chorus sound great. I am by nature a Fender tube guy because I like the tube reverb but Roland has got the reverb right in the amp. The chorus has that Roland classic sound that I really like. I was surprised to see that it is made in Japan and not China like so many other amps. My 15 yr old son loves this amp, with that said the headphone jack is a plus. This amp is a keeper.

    Sound purity
What is your opinion of this product?
I've had this amp for a little over a year and I truly love it! As a solid-state amp, it really shines in transparency as well as an optimal platform for pedals. And of course that "3D" chorus has to be heard to be believed! There's no pedal or digital effect that can compare to it. I keep the EQ knobs at 12 O'clock which I find allows my guitar's native tone to come through with almost no discernible coloring. Very transparent. I especially love the stereo options this thing comes with. Stereo ins, stereo line outs, and of course stereo returns on the effects loop (the out is mono). The ability to switch between series and parallel on the effects loop is great. I find that the distortion is gritty and very useable. Put a booster or OD in front of it and you can get some pretty good tones. Obviously it's not going to be the same as tube distortion, but it's more than adequate for a rowdy club gig. Guitars I use: Strat with EMG SA pu's, and Les Paul with EMG 81/85 pu's.

    Well worth it
What is your opinion of this product?
I've wanted an ultra clean amp for quite some time and always kept coming back to the Jazz Chorus. It is everything as advertised and tried and tested for 40 years. I contemplated the JC-22 but glad I went with the JC-40 and it's larger speakers. This thing is great running clean and takes pedals beautiful like nothing else. I've seen endless reviews singing the amp's praises but also reference to the JC's "hiss". I use all Mogami platinum cables in my signal chain and have a well buffered studio; I do not hear any "hiss" from the amp. On higher volumes with the distortion engaged (and yes on this round of the JC the distortion is quite usable) one can start to hear the "hiss" but that is no different than any other distortion pedal or amp setting and in fact even less noticeable than on other amps. I'm very happy with my purchase and the service from American Musical as always was stellar.
