What is your opinion of this product?
I received this bass today. Out of the box this bass was terrible. String action was way too high and the intonation was horrible. Alot of the frets were either too high or not pressed into the fretboard. After 4 1/2 hours of work it finally came together were it was nice to play. The pickup was way too close to the strings and had a distorted sound when played. When I lowered the pickup then it started to sound pretty good. The neck was crooked in the pocket. The overall sound of the bass was ok. I think Sterling would be better-off with passive instead of active. Their electronics are not that great. I switched-out the active circuit with an identical circuit from Artec and this bass really came alive. 100% better tone overall. The finish on this bass is absolutely beautiful. It's a shame the rest of this bass build falls short of the target. Musicman really needs to up their game on quality control if they want this bass to be a market winner.
