Product Description

The Shure KSM32 Condenser Microphone is a transformerless large diaphragm mic designed and built to perform at the highest possible level for demanding recording applications.
Low self-noise of just 13dB, wide 20Hz - 20kHz frequency response and accurate reproduction make the KSM32 a versatile, powerful tool for the highest quality studios. Pros have found this mic to perform like some of their classic favorites and are using the KSM32 for just about every studio application you could think of--voice, acoustic instruments, wind instruments, bass, drums, overhead, ensembles and room ambience. Includes locking aluminum carrying case, elastic-suspension shock mount, swivel mount and protective velveteen pouch.

For over 70 years, Shure has developed some of the industry's finest microphones. Their name has become synonymous with quality and value. The KSM32 is no exception. Finally, you can have a superior studio condenser microphone without compromise.

There is more to a musical performance than sound alone. There is heart, energy, mood. And only a studio microphone of extraordinary quality can preserve such subtleties. The Shure KSM32 Cardioid Condenser Microphone is just such an instrument.

The side-address KSM32 features an extended frequency response that provides open, natural sound reproduction. For highly critical studio recording and live sound productions, there is no microphone like it.

A Masterpiece, Inside and Out
The exterior design of the KSM32 is a classic - the definition of style and elegance.

Inside, it is perhaps even more impressive. The KSM32 features Class A, transformerless preamplifier circuitry which improves linearity across the full frequency range.

It also provides the exceptionally low self-noise and increased dynamic range necessary for highly critical studio recording.

In addition, the KSM32 has a 15 dB attenuation switch for handling extremely high sound pressure levels. Thus, it has the flexibility to handle a variety of demanding sound sources, including vocals, acoustic instruments, ensembles and overhead miking of drums and percussion.

To acheive extended low frequency reproduction, the KSM32 features an embossed, ultra-thin, high-compliance diaphram. This gold-layered Mylar diaphragm provides the excellent transient response necessary to faithfully reproduce any sound source.

Some noises you can do without. To control them, the KSM32 has a switchable low-frequency filter to reduce vibration noise or to counteract proximity effect. Plus, an integrated three-stage pop protection grille is an excellent guard against wind and breath noise. The SL model also features an elastic shock mount which greatly reduces external vibrations.

And because the KSM32 offers an extremely high output level, you can reduce the need for microphone preamp gain, minimizing undesired noise.

The KSM32/SL has a champagne-colored finish and comes with the following accessories:

  • Locking aluminum carrying case
  • ShureLock elastic-suspension shock mount
  • ShureLock swivel mount
  • Protective velveteen pouch

Product Review

I use these on tour with bands highly suspect, vacationer, palaye royale and the starting line as under/over heads they are silky smooth and way less harsh than the previous 414’s I used to use. I also use one on guitar and it’s amazing. Just flip the high pass maybe bump 800 hertz and it cuts perfectly and sings in the mix. Vocally in a studio setting I’d give it a 4 star in its price range. It’s truly an amazing mic and can be used for many things. I now own 4.

Nice clarity

Product Review

Admittedly, I’ve not been able to use this mic a lot yet. It seems have a pretty flat eq sound, which is good in my book. What you put in it, is what comes out for the most part. The built in filter switches are a nice touch. Just know that you will not get a great sound out of this mic if the room does not sound good and you don’t have a decent mic preamp. Overall I think it’s a good mic for the money. It definitely seems like it would last for a very long time if you take care of it. Shure definitely never lets me down on build quality.

Pretty good

Product Review

Good mic. However it didn’t come with a metal case like the one pictured. It has a black zipper case with some sort of hardened plastic (or something similar) exterior.

THE Industry Standard All-Purpise Condender Mic

Product Review

I compose music for film, television, events, and artist licensing. I believe a KSM 32 should be in every mic closet of anyone who does music for his/her living, along with a nice tube mic and a nice ribbon mic. But if you have a budget for only one mic, buy '32. It's been as much an industry standard for recording for decades as the Shure SM57s and 58s have been for live performances, and there's a great reason for it- they're without a doubt the finest, most completely versatile condenser mic for any musical application. Period.
