Product Description

The A12e features Taylor's compact Grand Concert body which makes it perfect for fingerpicking or anyone with a lighter touch who craves the physical comfort of a small-body guitar. The guitar’s design specs are optimized for playing ease.

Taylor’s patented, slim-profile neck features an array of hand-friendly touches: a shorter 24-7/8-inch scale length, 1-11/16-inch nut width, low action, and light gauge strings, all of which contribute to a slinky handfeel.

The lightweight guitar body, featuring layered sapele back and sides with a solid Sitka spruce top, boasts an ergonomic armrest that enhances the playing comfort for one’s picking arm. The guitar was also voiced to be extra responsive to make the playing experience as relaxed as possible.

The guitar comes with an onboard ES-B pickup that includes a built-in digital chromatic tuner, and comes with a sturdy lightweight gig bag.

ES-B Pickup/Preamp Combo
The ES-B pickup incorporates Taylor’s Expression System® 2 piezo design elements and features an onboard preamp with a built-in digital chromatic tuner. The preamp/tuner unit features an LED display for tuning and low battery indication, along with Tone and Volume controls. The preamp/tuner is powered by two button cell 3v lithium (CR2032) batteries. Two new batteries will provide approximately 300 hours of use. The ES-B conserves battery life using a standard on/off system that will automatically turn off if left on over 3 minutes. A low battery indicator on the LED display (located on the preamp circuit board) will display an “L” when the battery reaches 4.5 volts.

Enhanced Playability
Our sleek, hand-friendly necks feature light-gauge strings and optimized dimensions for a slinky feel.

I honestly lent this guitar to my brother to record for a few days and started playing my gamer more, but I’d didn’t feel the same, since I got the guitar back I’ve barely put it down when I’m at home!

I’m hooked!

Product Review

I researched several options for my 13 yr old son that’s been playing about 6 months. I read several reviews comparing the Academy 12e with similarly priced guitars. The Acadamy series won hands down. My son opened his guitar on Christmas morning and has been unable to put it down! Thanks Taylor!!

Very Good Sound

Product Review

I have had several different acoustic guitars. At first I had been wanting a Martin and Co. acoustic guitar. However in one of the local music stores they had this exact guitar for sell. Of course not a lot of people have around $700 in play money. So when I seen this guitar on American Musical for around $65 a month for 12 months, I had to buy it. When I received it and begin to play it mine had arrived already tuned, which was a surprise to me. Having this guitar 2 days from when I ordered it was also a plus. The feel of this guitar is incredible, I especially love the arm rest. The smoothness of transitioning in chords is awesome, met with the warm soft tones of the guitar itself. This guitar can also hit the jam sessions if needed.

From the woods in the body and neck to the ebony fretboard, this guitar has all the features you would want from the Taylor’s going for a few hundred dollars more in price. Super comfortable to play.

You get more than you pay for!

Product Review

Being in a gigging every weekend band, my cheap knock-around acoustic/electric just wasn't cutting it anymore but I didn't have the money to get a proper quality guitar. After some searching, and reading and watching several positive reviews regarding the Taylor Academy, I felt comfortable taking a chance on it. As it turns out, it's worth every penny plus. Amazing full tone with lots of punch, and the beveled armrest might be the best feature ever invented!! I love everything about this guitar! The gig bag that comes with it is super high quality, and the front pocket is big enough to carry my songbook and 4 20ft. cables. Taylor may call this their starter guitar, but it is so much more, and easily belongs in the stage arsenal of the professional musician.

I can't get enough of this thing!

Product Review

Brilliant sound and great playability. Amplified sound is even better. I didn't give it five stars because I would've liked this guitar to come w/ a pick guard and perhaps better finishes from better quality control during production. That said, once you play it, you forgive the minor flaws or oversights and eventually forget...
