Harmony, Correction and Effects Built for the Road
As a performing musician you strive to assemble the right mix of gear to make your performances shine - but what about your voice? In the studio you polish your vocals to perfection using EQ, compression, pitch correction, harmonies and effects. VoiceLive brings your signature vocal sound on the road, putting your studio voice tools at your feet.

A Studio Vocal Rack On Stage
When you’re in the studio you use great tools to get the best out of your vocal performance. You spend time auditioning mic preamps, reverbs, EQs, delays and effects to get a recording just right. With VoiceLive you have all your vocal tools in one dedicated box for live performance and control. You get the same quality processing you expect in a studio environment. The EQ, compression, delay and reverb algorithms boast renowned TC-Quality that professionals have come to expect. VoiceLive also contains the best harmony, correction and doubling algorithms from TC-Helicon’s acclaimed rack mounted vocal processor, VoiceWorks. In addition to the studio quality signal path, TC-Helicon developed and implemented VOS Limiter – an optical limiter optimized for voice. The analog architecture of the VOS Limiter ensures that you’ll never distort the mic input while maintaining premium sound quality.

The Most Natural Sounding Harmonies
Creating realistic background vocals is easy with VoiceLive. Four unique harmony logic algorithms add harmonies with varying amounts of intelligence. The harmony parts are generated from your lead voice – or if you’re looking for even more punch from your harmonies, let a second singer use VoiceLive to create a multi-voice back-up ensemble

VoiceLive uses the same revolutionary technologies to generate real-time harmonies as the TC-Helicon rackmount harmony product, VoiceWorks. Each of the four harmony voices uses the Hybrid Shifting algorithm. This superior pitch-shifting algorithm is combined with a voice-trained pitch-detection algorithm and umanmodeled naturalization parameters to create natural harmonies to reinforce your live performances.

Transparent Pitch Correction
Driven by TC-Helicon’s voice-trained pitch-detection algorithm, VoiceLive’s automatic pitch correction is the most transparent available. With factory and custom scales, the Correct block can fix intonation problems in any musical style. Amount, Attack and a 200-cent window control make natural pitch correction easy to achieve.

Easy Control at Your Feet
TC-Helicon worked with numerous performing vocal artists during the design of VoiceLive. Using the feedback from these artists and TC-Helicon’s experience in vocal processing, VoiceLive was designed for easy control in any setup.
  • Eight foot-switches and multiple control modes make VoiceLive easy to use in your performance.
  • Preset Mode gives you fast hands-free access to harmony parameters like key and scale type.
  • Song Mode lets you select from stored songs and navigate through their steps.
  • Direct Mode give direct access to stored presets – It’s as easy as selecting radio stations on your car radio.
  • Voices Mode lets you individually toggle each harmony voice on/off using the top four foot-switch buttons.
A user foot-switch is assignable to TAP Tempo (for the delay effect), Harmony Hold, and to many other useful parameters. Get more creative control by using an expression pedal to sweep through assignable modifiers.

Built for the Road
To ensure the integrity of your vocal performance, VoiceLive is assembled with rugged components. The bottom plate is constructed using a powder-coated steel-plate with anti-skid rubber matting. The buttons and data knobs are recessed and reinforced by double aluminium construction. Rear mounted die-cast steel handles protect your cables and make it easy to carry. You don’t need to be gentle with VoiceLive.

I Own It
Product Rating

As mentioned previously, I haven't owned it for very long, but seems to be made well. Maybe I'll post again in another six months.

This processor is very versatile. I prefer a more natural sound with a little thickness, reverb and echo. This will do it perfectly. My friend prefers the pitch correction and other effects, and it works perfectly for that. Bottom line, this is all you will need for a vocal processor from A-Z.

There is a little bit of a learning curve, but I have never used this type of equipment before. A friend of mine has, and he figured it out pretty quickly.

The sound is fantastic. I have used it through both a Fender Passport PA and a Carvin Keyboard amplifier and sounded great.

I've only had it for about a month, but so far, so good.

Your general opinion of this product.

Overall I am quite pleased with the unit. It took me a while to figure it out, but that's because I have never had any exposure to these before. A friend of mine was able to figure it out pretty quickly because he was familiar with vocal processors.

Awsome, but hi learning curve!

Its built like a freakin tank.

By far the best feature is of course the harmonies. This is capable of doing anything a vocalist could want, from angelic choirs ala "Amazing Grace" type beautiful backings to screaming demon full blown straight from h*ll death metal and everything in between. Truly does it all. Top it off with the full lvls controls and added reverb and delays and its truly a wonderful and fully professional tool.

Unless you're a complete EXPERT in music theory, this is going to take you a very long time to learn how to use. In no way is this a plug and play kind of device. You must match the harmonies to the key of the song, and if your vocals arent on pitch this thing WILL go wacko on your singer. I rated it a very fair 2 on ease of use due to extreme learning curve for the untrained in music theory. I would actually go so far as to say if you have no music training, this is going to be completly useless to you.

a little noisy on some of the presets, but trust me, you're not going to use any of them anyway, you'll be straight away making your own.

Couldnt really say much on this yet, only had it a few weeks.

Your general opinion of this product.

Being a metal musician, I at first had my doubts about this product upon hearing the presets, which if you're into any type of heavy music, are totally useless... However after learning the editing, its turned out to be absolutly amazing and exactly what we were looking for. can't be beat, and turned out to definitly be the secret to how some of our fav bands, IE Lamb of God, Testament, Devil Driver, to name a few, are getting their vocal sound.

Good luck dealing with TC's customer service

Well, I used it 1x-2x a week for about two years, and now it's broken. It always traveled in a fully padded camera case, so it was never abused. It's seen maybe 10 gigs and 100 jam sessions, so I wouldn't consider that to be "abused". Heck, compared to my amps and guitars, that's not even "broken in". So why did it break?

The harmonizing is very lifelike, sounds very natural

It's a complicated item with many features, but if you take the time to learn it, it will do incredible things for your vox...at least until it breaks. The factory presets are a great starting point, and modifying from there is pretty simple.

Sounds great

Broken after 2 years, I would hope for better from an $800 item

Your general opinion of this product.

It sounds really good, so it was a real shame when it broke recently. It's only 2 years old, and has always been transported in a padded case. TC's customer service is by far THE WORST I've ever tried to deal with. Their tech lines are ALWAYS busy (I've tried calling 10+ times since this broke, and have remained on hold for over 10 minutes each time) and when you leave a message when prompted so they can call you back, they of course NEVER call back. I've left 5-6 messages over the past two weeks, and NO return phone call. Therefore, my $800 Voice Live is an unusable brick, and I can find NOBODY who can even look at it. BITE ME TC, I'll never buy one of your products again!

Confusing as hell!

Your general opinion of this product.

QUALITY:
Built very tough

FEATURES:
Tons of features

EASE OF USE:
Well....I couldn't figure the thing out! I'm not a trained musician, I learn by ear. To use this thing properly you have to know what key your playing and singing in, which is not my thing. I just learn how to play the song and sing it.

VALUE:
For me, there was no value in this becuase it was too confusing to use.

SOUND:
I'm impartial. The instruction manual didn't help me, so I couldn't get the sound I wanted. It needs to come with a in-depth how to DVD on how to use and program it.

Best vocal pedal board

Your general opinion of this product.

QUALITY:
This pedal board is built solid.

FEATURES:
This thing gives me all that I need. These effects are so transparent!!!

EASE OF USE:
TC Helicon has come up with a very nice user interface. With a unit like this I was expecting to put in some time learning the unit and just getting around the pedal board. Getting around didn't take long at all.

VALUE:
Worth every penny

SOUND:
I use a Shure Beta 58 with this unit and this thing just blows me away. The reverbs and the harmonys are amazing. You can't even tell that the harmonys are digital.

OVERALL:
I have giged a few times with this unit and every one in the band can't believe this unit.

Disappointed

Your general opinion of this product.

QUALITY:
Very good fit & finish. Appears to be designed to withstand some abuse.

FEATURES:
No headphone jack???

EASE OF USE:
I found the unti very difficult to figure out. In all fairness to TC Helicon, I am pretty impatient, but it seems to me that one would have to dedicate many hours to understanding what this thing is truly capable of doing. I just don't have the time. The manual is awful and the CD tutorials are not much better. My biggest concern or fear with this box is that I do not want to be teethered to this thing during a live performance. I also think it can be a major point of failure during a live performance unless you have an intimate knowledge of it. This is one of the biggest reasons I sent the box back. I want something that will enhance my sound, reliable and easy to use. I think this unit is best suited for simple acoustic performances and for those with average singing ability.

Has some bang, but worth the buck?

Your general opinion of this product.

QUALITY:
This thing seems like it will weather the road. Just the feel alone is more solid than the Digitech pedals.

FEATURES:
The harmonies sound great, that is if you can figure out how to get it to sound the way you want. It will sound blatant if you don't know what you're doing.

EASE OF USE:
The worst thing about this thing next to price. To add falme to the fire, the instructions are horrible, and there should really be a book out for this thing. (Which makes it not very user-friendly)

VALUE:
Just way too expensive for what it really does (even at $749). One could always buy a rack sound processor that would do the same thing effect-wise. Truth be told, using this thing for a live show is not as easy as it looks, so you may be better off slipping the sound guys at your venue some bucks to take care of you rather than doing all the work yourself, and paying through the nose to do it.

Well Worth The Wait

Your general opinion of this product.

QUALITY:
Built like a tank. It was much more durable and sturdy than I thought it would be. Usually new digital stuff is all plastic, but this is metal, heavy and well built. Should last years.

FEATURES:
Does everything any singer could want, probably has too many features, if that is possible. Instruction manual really sucks though.

EASE OF USE:
I'm not a 'techno-junkie' so it took me some time to figure out how to do a simple thing like cange the key or pitch, The instruction manual really should be better, but once I figured what I was doing, it got pretty simple. Prepare to take some time to learn how to use it.

VALUE:
Worth every penny and then some. I love it.

SOUND:
Sounds absolutely incredible. You cannot tell your vocals are digitally enhanced. Harmonies sound like real voices. A completely believeable sound, without detracting from the nuances of your own voice.
