Product Description

Victory's hardest rocking all-valve pedal preamp! V4 The Kraken features heavy, progressive and extended-range tones from VX The Kraken, developed with Rabea Massaad.

V4 The Kraken is a two-channel pedal preamp that delivers genuine all-valve overdrive. Use it straight into the front of your amp or recording interface, or alternatively use it in conjunction with your amp's FX loop to bypass the front end of your existing amp entirely for a whole new sound experience. This is definitely no 'ordinary' overdrive pedal!

All-valve signal path
1 x EC900 and 3 x CV4014 valves running at high plate voltage. These are the first pedal-format guitar preamps to feature four valves and an all-valve signal path. This is no 'ordinary' overdrive pedal!

Two Channels
Channel one goes from on the edge of breakup through to heavily driven classic rock tones. Channel two is full-on modded 'plexi' high gain goodness with more midrange aggression.

Remote Switching
The TRS jack gives you option of switching the pedal remotely. You can control on/off and also channel 1/2 with either a separate two-button latching footswitch or via a modern programmable switching unit. This means you can have the V4 Series Pedal Preamp off the floor and out of harm's way.

Bright Switch
Bright is a global tone control that optimises the V4 Pedal Preamp for what you're plugging into. Amp effects loops, inputs, recording devices and so on all differ greatly, so just choose the setting that sounds best to your ears. Don't worry if other settings sound 'bad'. It all depends what you're playing through!

Live, home & studio
Put it on your pedalboard, on top of your amp or on your desktop. It's particularly good for fly dates, or other situations when you're not using your own amp. Just hit the FX loop return of whatever you're using and feel right at home in no time.

Steel Chassis
If you're going to be standing on it and it contains hot glass, it needs to be tough. The folded steel chassis and kick bar for the knobs means that this thing is ready for the road.

Two ways to connect
We recommend 'Amp Through Mode' for full functionality where you can choose to use your amp's own front end, or the V4 Preamp via the amp effects loop. To use it as a 'normal' pedal or if you don't have an effects loop, use 'Standalone' mode.

Three-Band EQ
Powerful bass, middle and treble controls. These also have a significant effect on the gain character and drive levels – just like in any valve guitar amp.

Amp Through Mode Explained
Amp Through Mode utilises the effects loop of your guitar amp

When the pedal is ON, you're bypassing your amp's front end
When the pedal is OFF, you're plugged into your amp as normal
You're adding two new ‘channels’ to your amp that are independent from your amp’s own front end. Imagine if you could feed the power section of a Fender Twin, for example, with the front end of a Countess, Sheriff or Kraken. That's exactly what your doing: your single-channel workhorse becomes a three-channel monster.

No FX loop? Use Standalone Mode and go straight in the front.

Classic Rock to Brutality in One Box
Product Rating

Product Review

My favorite overdriven amp sounds are the Marshall JCM900 and the Peavey 5150. This pedal (and the full blown amp) is based on both of those amps in one box. I've owned a lot of amps over the years, and this blows them all out of the water. I absolutely love it, and my bandmates commented on how thick and crushing my tone is. It's a keeper for life!

Two extra channels of English gain!

Product Review

I just received my Krakken, hooked it up with 4-cable method, and got the exact sounds I wanted out of it in a few minutes! It worked great with front and back end pedals including a looper. This was very easy to use and tweak. The result: absolutely earth shattering! Gain one sounds like a dimed AC30 and gain two moves way into modern crunch in the best way. This is exactly what I was looking for to add to my rig.

All the tones you need

Product Review

I added this to my Orange Dark Terror amp and it sounds great. The Dark Terror by itself is amazing, but it only has one channel. This pedal effectively adds two more channels, But I’m not here to talk about the Orange. This preamp pedal gives you all kinds of options from barely breaking up, to screaming, full metal high gain sounds, and even with the gain cranked, keeps individual note definition for extended chords if that’s your thing. I use mine with the amp through mode (connected through the effects loop) and in my opinion, that’s where it really shines. I’ve tried it between guitar and amp like a regular overdrive pedal and it sounds pretty great that way too. The bright switch seems to help dial in the pedal to the amp, but I’ve only tried it with the one amp. I have no complaints at all. Would buy again for sure.

Product Review

Just buy it you will be glad you did. It gives you two additional channels on your amp. It's really like having a completely different amp all together. The tones you can get from the Kraken are incredible from glassy cleans to aggressive overdrives. Victory Amps mission is to inspire you and you will definitely be inspired by the tones you can get out of this pre amp.

Killer sound

Product Review

Got it running as a preamp into the FX Loop of a Katana 100 Head. I love the Katana, but the distortion sounds were never quite right, and I couldn't seem to quite get there with various pedals either. This, this is what I was looking for. This is the sound, the texture, the feel. Amazing piece of equipment, worth every penny.
