These are a mainstay in studios across the globe. Contrary to popular belief these are used often in tracking including vocals. (Vocals tend to record better when the artist can also hear the room alongside of the playback, which this headphone system does well.)
While being nothing special on paper they are super special in productivity.

Design is what caught my attention and obviously because it is an AKG product. Had them for a few months now and so far I like the sound quality and the comfort. I'm new in mixing music so at first they sounded kind of weak but then I realize when you are mixing, it is my responsibility to make my music sound good in a pair of mixing headphones like this ones.

I bought two pairs while I was in France doing a session in 2004. They are still my workhorse headphones. I use them to take care of almost all my home studio monitoring needs. Sound-wise, they've been pretty consistent for over 15 years. I highly recommend them for pro and home studio owners.

The AKG Brand is synonymous with Pro Studio Gear.
The headphones are comfortable and well constructed.
I especially appreciate the right angle removable jack to phones. So cable replacement is easy 123 and you don't have to toss them out.
I don't like the fact that the cans cannot handle bass at low frequencies as well as other headphones in the under $100 price range. When the bass is prominent in your mix (respectably so) the cans start to sound a bit muddy. Over the years AKG has been in the recording studio front lines, from NY to LA, AKG was always there and on point regardless of what the cost factor was. If it bore the name AKG, it was good money!
I expected more from AKG on these studio headphones. Don't get me wrong, they sound good and they're comfortable and well made - they just don't handle the bottom end as well as they should.
I've had them less than two weeks.
They didn't meet my expectations unfortunately.

Great sound at all volumes and types of music. Does not color the music , its leaves it very pure. I just love the sound overall but also these are the most comfortable headphones I have ever had. I had some Audio Technica headphones and while those sounded great they were hard on the ears and very tight on the head. As a added bones the AKG headphones sounded very nice for movies as well.I have only had these for a short time but they have proven themselves to be not just worth the money at a bargain price , but with high class sound. They have exceeded my expectations 10 fold. Never would I have expected such high quality at such a bargain price.. AMS of course made this all possible with the special offer for the beginning of the black friday sales which began the first weekend in November 2019. They offered to allow payments to get gear at their amazing price and take possession of the gear NOW. Before it was paid off. Talk about the most wonderful time of the year. I highly recommend watching AMS for further deals. I just happened to visit the website for browsing with no pre-intention to buy anything and came away with the best headphones I have ever owned. I just could not miss.

Being a drummer for over 50 years, I used to play with electronics back in the '80s. Unfortunately back then, those sounded more like drum effects as opposed to real drums. So now that I've begun using Roland electronics on stage, I find that sound reproduction has become more supper critical than ever. I bought the AKG K240s because supposedly they would let me hear what truly would be coming out of the front of house (FOH) main system. You can't model sound effectively if your headphones are giving you colored sound at the start. These are about as flat a response as you can get in the under 100.00 price range. But for my money, they could have cost a lot more. The sound is smooth, the headset is comfortable, the price was right, but most importantly, above all else, good bad or indifferent, the sound is accurate! I'd gladly purchase these again and again, and highly recommend them if you want to hear "the real deal."

There's a good reason these are considered the "Gold Standard" of headphones, and why they appear in more studios than any other: They are the Best. They simply sound great, are comfortable, and don't cost too much. I have a pair that are more than 25 years old, and they still sound Great!
After 25 years, I finally replaced my old pair from 1989. So I'd say the quality is as good as it gets! And the new pair are improved - with the removable cable.
The removable cable and screw-on 1/4" adapter are nice features.
But of course it's all about the Sound. It simply can't be beat.
There is no better value.

For the money you won't find better headphones. Comfortable to wear for extended periods and quality sound reproduction.
Lightweight but seem to be well made. Should last since I take care of my stuff. I wouldn't throw them or anything.
Plug them in. Pretty simple
Clarity and detailed sound reproduction. Response is even and consistent.
Great value. You may be able to buy better but it'll easily cost 2-3 times as much.

Rock solid quality! And built to take ABUSE from just 'doin' it' session after session!
The lightweight is awesome from someone whose worn the heavy 'can' of yesteryear. Better still...at only 55 ohms, my Blackberry will drive these babies just FINE!!! No way I could've done that with the ol' standard 600 ohm cans. Multi-hour studio work (3 -4, even 5 hours straight) is NOT fatuiging to the headtop {weight} or ears {crush}. Only 'phones I'll use. Convertible mini 1/8" plug with supplied 1/4" SCREW ON adaptor is incredibly versatile; forward thinking (on AKG's part); handy to hot-swap from unit to unit on-the-fly!
Product's use is intuitive it you know that the cord goes on the left - and you know which is your left ear.

I bought them over 10 years ago and they still sound pristine. I have rolled over the cord with my chair many many times, and they have been dropped and abused in many recordings and they are still alive and well.
The sound quality is just beautiful. They are so true and flat sounding; I always reference mixes with these cans along with my studio monitors. If mine EVER died, they would be replaced immediately... but after 10 years of regular use i don't think they will ever die!
The best feature of this new improved model is that AKG has dropped the resistance and they are now LOUDER!! My old version has to be driven by a good headphone amp to really get a lot of volume out of them. These new ones work much better with any headphone output, and have the same amazing sound!
The pads on these headphones are so comfy I can wear them all day if need be and they don't bother me. Plus they look super cool being all gold and big and stuff.
YES! they are built like a tank and sound true! Buy them, you can thank me later!!!!

These headphones are well-built and offer great sound quality. I purchased them for two reasons - to use while recording radio interviews and to listen to music. Since they're not totally closed, they allow just enough outside sound for me to hear my interviewees. In contrast, for music, I can listen loud and clear with little to no outside interference. Very dependable!
The sound quality is wonderful and certainly the best quality. One feature I wouldn't mind adding is a volume dial on one of the ears, or the ability to detach the cord. Still, these are superfluous desires and don't impact the headphones' quality.
Since this is a product that sits on your head, it's pretty easy to use. Plus, they self-adjust to your head - just one less step you need to take!
These headphones are fantastic for the price paid. I've seen them advertised elsewhere, usually for upward of $250. AMS has the lowest price I've been able to find and it is extremely reasonable for this good find.

I was very disappointed in this purchase (I did return these headphones). If you can't make it to a local store please take my advice on this. Sennheiser HD280 headphones are far more superior.

The image on this web site is not the correct image for the K240STU it is for the K240DF. These cans sound absolutely great! The cord is very thin and wimpy, I can't imagine that it will last very long. It's too bad because the rest of the product seems to be very well made. The 1/8 to 1/4 converter came apart the first time I used it, luckily I was able to get the tip and ring out of my keyboard headphones jack.

these are great! I love the way the cord is removeable so if it shorts out just buy a new one. great sound very comfortable i used them 2 straight days in the studio and they never hurt my head.
