I have been on a quest to spend less and get more instrument than I could have imagined. And, that’s exactly what happened with my most recent purchase of the Alvarez ABT60 Baritone acoustic guitar. Alvarez continues to go all in when it comes to a quality product at a savings. I be love this guitar. Thanks Alavarez and AMS for what you do!

Best Baritone Acoustic Guitar for the Money!!!

Product Review
I've had the opportunity to play several baritone guitars, but after strumming the Alvarez ABT60 I decided to make the purchase. Best decision I could have made. Before receiving the guitar I regretted not purchasing the Alvarez ABT60CE8 because it contains a pickup system. But on receiving the ABT60 I've really had no need for pickups since the guitar projects extremely well. Great buy and great service from AMS. Thank you.

I look forward to using this instrument as a harmonic accompaniment on my recordings. It plays very well and the tone is superb. At first the wide neck was a bit strange but after a few plays it feels as natural as my Martin or mt Takamines.

This was my first purchase with American Musical and I literally have not one negative thing to say in spite of receiving a guitar with problems.
My first contact with customer service was due to a glitch concerning shipping. The person I spoke to was very friendly and explained the issue with not one negative tone or word. I then made it through the order with no problem. Next after receiving my guitar I noticed some issues I was not willing to live with. Again, the person in customer service was extraordinarily nice and helpful. This should not be unusual however, in this day and age it is rare to run across people with feelings, understanding an such a high degree of professionalism. I explained my issues and he (I regret not knowing the names of either men I spoke with) let me know what could be done and again, without a hint of negative tone he explained what to do and a few days later I received a replacement guitar which I am perfectly happy with. (I know the issues were not the fault of AMS which makes it even more amazing). I cannot say enough nice things about this business and especially it's customer service people. Triple A all the way! Will I go to the big name guitar stores now? Yes, I will go there, find the product I am looking for and once decided what I want, I will come home and order it from American Musical. They are now my Go-To store hands down. Great job people. You have given me hope for humanity after all!

Product Review
I’ve been dreaming of getting a baritone for a very long time and I figured this would be a great start. I’ve played other baritones in the past and wanted an acoustic to start off with but no one in my area had one for me to check out. So I did something I never had done before, I ordered one without even playing one. I can’t describe how much I loved this guitar when I finally was able to play it. Within minutes of it arriving I was setting it up and playing a guitar that I swear should have cost much more than I paid. The neck is awesome, even with my hands that have had surgery and nerve damage. And the sound was pronounced, even and notes just rang for days. I haven’t stopped playing it since it arrived.

I've never played a baritone guitar before till now, it's easier than I thought! The sound is mellower than a regular 6 string for obvious reasons.
Great for more "moody" type music. I've added a pick up and it brings a new stage into play. More intense sound. Easy on the nevers, really.
Very pleased with this product all in all.
More than worth the amount paid.

Great tone & value

Product Review
A well constructed and affordable baritone for those wanting to expand their arsenal but not make it their primary instrument. I have two Alvarez Masterworks that are excellent so I didn't have any doubt that Alvarez would deliver. As a part of their Artist series, this isn't as polished as my Masterworks models, but it delivers well. The top has nice figuring and the back & sides are resonant, despite being laminate. The guitar is comfortable to hold and after a set-up, played very well. The tone is deep and rich but not too harmonic, probably the result of the laminate sides (which also reduces muddiness). I tune it B to B but may try some different approaches out of curiosity. Overall, this is a great guitar for the money and the best option available for those wanting to add a baritone but not spend custom-level cash on it.

Beyond Expectations of a $400 Guitar

Product Review
I give this 4 of 5 stars. There is a lack of clarity in the low end, but that might just be from the D'Addario Coated Phosphor Bronze strings or the super jumbo body. I'll have to experiment with different strings to nail that down.
Everything else is great so far: Construction, finish, hardware, tuning stability is all there. I also bought the Gator GW-JUMBO case which fits this guitar like a glove.
Great sustain and overall projection due to the thin finish on just the top. The back and sides do not have a finished coat, which is just like I like it. The neck is hearty, durable but not cumbersome. It also accepts a standard capo very well with not much tuning adjustment needed between fret positions 1-5.
For the cost, it is a no brainer for someone who has never played a baritone.

Got this at a deep discount from AMS as a dent scratch, although apprehensive, I knew there would be no other way I could ever own something like this without pushing my wife to the point of divorce. Admittedly, I feel guilty. Only minor scratches on the pick guard from some hack who returned it. This sucker is a great deal... the tone and quality are quite surprising given the $400 price tag. The guitar growls and delivers in the mid and lows especially. Although I bought it as a bedroom guitar to screw around with, I really have to reconsider to make it a gigging piece. This guitar is a great addition to any collection.

Epic quality sound and a Joy to play

Product Review
An outstanding guitar that places an orchestra in your hands. I am a church musician and this guitar allows me to play some newer songs in a better vocal range but without changing my chords. Its like having both a guitar and a piano in your hands! Highly recommend without reservation for any skill level.
The quality is perfect. Zero blemishes, perfect seams, top is beautiful, mahogany veneer is simply beautiful. clearly the bracing is done well, no dead spots at all.
this was the surprise, as I assumed, having smaller hands, that the wider scale would pose a problem...not at all. Also, even though the strings are thicker, because the tension is less they are very easy to chord. Also, the guitar is light due to the quality of the woods used.
Tone has blown me away. No videos do it justice; there is a just a deep warm, rumbly bass and mid that emanates from the guitar.
Flawless. I was able to easily just peel off the pick-guard, which is quite ugly. This improved the resonance and the guitar looks very clean and bright.
I would have paid twice as much for this. I cannot believe the low price, but the value is clearly in the quality of the top and bracing. In this it rivals any high-end guitar. Also, the woods are not heave and this improves resonance. On some cheap "solid tops" a very thick "B" grade sitka is used; the ABT60 has A grade sitka at a thickness similar to Taylor or Martin. Same with the sides. Cheap guitars are always heavy and dull sounding, this one is not.
Arrived from AMS in perfect condition but tuned a half step below normal, strings were lively and bright. It played perfectly and I did not put it down for two hours.
