Right out of the box the set up and tone is great! I opened it and tuned it up and haven’t been able to put it down. The fit and finish is equivalent if not better than guitars that I own twice the price or more. The tone is also exceptional. The lows punch through, the mids are crisp, and the highs ring out and resonate for days. I looked at a bunch of different parlors before pulling the trigger on this one and I am beyond satisfied with it. I haven’t touched my Taylors, Martins, or Gibson since it arrived. 10/10 recommend adding the AP66shb to your collection. Whether you’re finger picking or strumming this one can do it all.

I've bought many guitars from AMS over the years, This is one of my favorites already. Plays great right out of the box looks great a handy guitar to leave out to just grab and play. I play with a heavy hand and this thing booms when strummed with a pick.

Beautiful finish. A lot of parlors sound like the old department store “Stellas” but this little Alvarez is loud and rich. Easy to play and I love the slotted peg head. Perfect for the couch or lugging around but it records well too.

This is just an amazing guitar all around, from fit and finish to sound. Something I have to say is the neck is fantastic, it's to me a soft V which just works with the slotted head.
The top is a nice gloss with a gorgeous pattern, with the sides and back having a nice satin or matte type finish. I have had to do zero adjustments to the guitar. The action might me slightly high but not enough to want to work on it.
While it's a small bodied guitar, it's got a nice boom to it for what it is. I do generally keep it at a drop D but have taken it down to a drop C.
It's really a do all sofa/writing guitar and honestly can't recommend it enough. I prefer it over my GS Mini, which is amazing in itself, this just has a little more room on the board due to nut width.

Just got this a week ago. Right out of the box it played really well. The sound is a little better than what I expected. I ordered a more expensive one some time ago and sent it back because the sound was a little tinty. I really like having this little parlor size setting beside me while I watch tv. Very handy to pick up and play anywhere. I think this is well worth the money. I won't be afraid to take it to the camp site and share it with whoever wants to play.

I typically don't do reviews but in this case, Alvarez has perfected a manufacturing process which yields a great instrument rivaling Taylor.
I am truly a perfectionist, ask AMS - this was perfect right out of the box.

I'm too fat to play a big guitar anymore. Well I do most of the time but this is a wonderful retard to sit around the house and play!

this has to be taken with a grain of salt, for the money this is a little gem of a guitar, the sound, especially the bass, is awesome for a small bodied instrument. Not to mention the looks of this guitar, its gorgeous! Every time i walk by it on its stand i don't WANT to play it...I NEED to play it, it just calls to me. At this price point theres no reason why you can't have a parlor guitar in your collection, Thank you Alvarez and thank you American Musical!

The Alvarez AP66SHB parlour guitar I received truly validated the reviews I’ve read about this affordable parlour 12 fret beauty. The glasslike finish, “shadow burst” solid African mahoghany top and abalone rosette are truly eye candy in a surprisingly affordable offering. The tuners could actually be a little more sensitive, but for well under 400 dollars, with a nice gigbag I can’t complain. The tuners work and this guitar stays in tune very well, which IS where the rubber meets the road ! And I can upgrade to compatible Gotohs for a fair price.
The best part of this instrument is the tone and I can honestly say that this is the only parlour I have that competes in tone, voice and presence with a parlour I own that cost 5 times the price. ( drops the mic ) ...

This is a little gem at the street price. The action was high, as expected, but with proper setup, it plays great. Sounds nice and at this price point, especially with the low E dropped to D. It's nice enough to be stored in a good case, which you will have to look for online. It requires a case to fit a 39" guitar.

I enjoy playing this guitar. It is really a beautiful instrument and plays and sounds great. Only cons are frets are a tiny bit sharp on the edges and as with my other Alvarez guitars, the tuners are not the very best.

Très bonne qualité pour le prix. Une Guitare qui résonne très fort pour le petit format. Esthétique du binding de contour à améliorer (inégale) mais c'est pas grave pour le prix..

Product Review
I own a Taylor 314CE that I keep humidified as I live in Arizona and wanted a "couch" guitar for daily playing within easy reach. My budget was $300 but after reading reviews on this guitar I decided to extend the budget a little and go for the Alvarez parlor guitar and couldn't be happier. Right out of the box the action and playability was superb, tone is great. It really projects for a parlor sized body. Quality materials and workmanship and the guitar is quite beautiful to look at. I just can't put it down and my Taylor hasn't been out of the case since I got the Alvarez. I would recommend this guitar to anyone, and the smaller body size and 12 fret neck would allow a child to play it as well. It would be a great first guitar for the serious student. Very playable. Love it!!!Great
Great for finger picking and flat picking as well though mine came without a pick guard but I like it anyway.
Extremely playable, good action, intonation. It won't need a professional set-up.
Better than expected.
Beautiful
No comparison. I think the Alvarez is a quality instrument at a very affordable price.
Perfect.
