I started to set it up and man it was practically there already. Sounds beautiful. The tone is magnificent. This is an all round excellent guitar. So gald i bought it!!

Product Review Does it do what I want? Yes Does it do the Bluegrass thing? Sure does. Does is quite live up to to reviews from guys like JP Cormier? No it does not. Maybe Sonically but not mechanically. Does it need a set up? Oh you bet it does. Once you get into frets above the 14th fret every fret end is sharp enough to carve a wood sculpture, let alone if you graze your finger. It was shipped really fast from west coast to central Oklahoma, so I understand, but for almost $1000 it still needs a setup pretty bad. Fun to play guitar, but not necessarily an easy to play guitar as it shipped. Do I wish it was a Collings or Boucher version of this famous body shape? Oh you bet I do, but for the money paid at least you can close your eyes and pretend your playing a guitar 5x as expensive.

Product Review This D body acoustic guitar has a great tone, better than guitars that cost twice the price. I own a D-35 and this guitar has about 95% of the tone of the Martin. It was playable right out of the box. The Alvarez has a first class finish and is the guitar that I play most often now. I am so impressed with the Alvarez that I am exploring other guitars by the manufacturer.

Product Review The moment I grabbed the guitar out of its box, I immediately tuned it and started playing a classic Elvis tune. OMG! I couldn't believe what I was hearing...I called up my buddy and brought it over to his place. He owns a Martin OM D28 and I swear the Alvarez sounded as good as the Martin. I am very impressed with my new go to acoustic guitar, the "Alvarez MD60BG acoustic guitar."

Product Review I was looking for another acoustic to use in and keep in my home studio. I’ve owned Martin guitars since I could play and stumbled across this guitar on YouTube. Out of the box this guitar was great. I did take it in for a setup but it was pretty good the way it came. This guitar sounds better than my Martin and I find myself favoring it more and more. This is the first Alvarez I e ever owned and have been very satisfied with it. For the money it rivals guitars 2-3 times the price in my opinion. It’s a guitar I’ll keep forever!

Product Review I am blown away by this guitar. How can they offer this at this low of a price? I have a HD-28 and a Blueridge BR-140, and this things is wayyyyy louder and punchier. If you are looking for a dread that can kick outside of it's class and be heard above the crowd, this is a no-brainer. Do you remember the import guitars from 30 years ago that cost this much? This is not those guitars. This is a new thing, and you want to get in on it.

Product Review I researched several different high end guitars wanting the classic Martin sound. After reading reviews and watching video I chose the mb60bg and it’s perfect out of the e box. The sound is so clean and loud! The output and low end are amazing. This is all the guitar of a 2000$ for a fraction of the price.

Product Review The guitar was a gift. This guitars sound is balanced, with good string resonance and bass to treble response is good. The guitar sounds so good right out of the box. I would be interested to see what it might sound like with special strings that enhance volume, and tone. I use it to write songs, and hopefully to record. I write in folk, pop format.

Product Review For the price it's an absolute steal, I'm considering buying a martin but I don't know how it will compare to this one. The guitar plays like butter, the pictures don't do it justice, the wood is much better visually in person. There's really nothing bad I can say about it, I was at a guitar shop recently looking around and not a single acoustic could even come close to it except another Alvarez.

Product Review I've played for 50 plus years and very fussy about my acoustics. I never owned a Alvarez because I thought can't be good for the price. I'm talking about the Masterworks line. Well I was wrong this is one amazing acoustic from inside out. Quality bone saddle and nut ebony pins outstanding well finished bracing. This MD60BG sounds amazing good bass but to me more important a good high end sound. We have an upright bass player in our bluegrass band. But that high end if it's off you can't hide that. Up and down the fretboard the high end sings. Volume is very good to this for the money cannot be beat. The only thing and for the price how can I complain I'd rather have the hard case the original models came with. But I put the MD60BG in a good Gator case a good acoustic like this needs protection.

Product Review I received my guitar 2 data after ordering on this site. Fast shipping good customer service. Guitar came in perfect condition. Looks better than I imagined. Very beautiful. The fit and finish is top notch. With some minimal tuning played great it off the box. The action is perfect. No adjustment needed. The tone is wonderful and rich. I play a lot of folk music so this is perfect for that. The guitar comes with a good and sturdy gig bag. I would have to worries traveling with or storing the guitar. All in all this is a great guitar. This is an awesome price for an all solid wood guitar. You'd be hard pressed to find a quality instrument at this price point. Highly recommended. Worth every penny.

Product Review This bluegrass monster is unbelievable. I have several acoustic guitars by other makers including a 1970 Martin D-41 (which is my baby). But it now takes a back seat to this guitar. Sound, Playability, quality matericals, price and pound for pound, this is a sure winner. If you love pure dreadnought tone at is finest, don't miss this one. It may not come back around!.

Product Review I ordered this guitar after seeing and hearing a u tube video. I told myself that if it did not pass muster, I would pack it up and send it back. At first I had a mild dislike to the sound coming from the guitar. After a couple of days I could not put it down. Good strong bass coming from a mahogany body. The fit and finish out of the box was excellent. I have a Martin d42 and a d28. This guitar is not a Martin but I would take it anywhere to set in on a bluegrass jam. After a new set of strings and a mild set up, this guitar sings. Don't hesitate to give it a try if you are a little short on cash. You won't regret it.

Product Review Right out of the box the fit & finish was better than I expected. The Alvarez is loud, sounds fantastic, has great string balance and the neck is very comfortable. Overall, when you consider the features like bone nut & saddle, all solid wood, etc. it’s a great deal. And the gig bag is pretty good as well. The only cons so far is the initial slight smell of glue (mine was made earlier this year) but that has all but gone away having it out of the box. I definitely recommend this guitar (esp. for the price) IMO, it’s as good as any +/-$1,500 guitars on the market.

Product Review I have a Martin HD-28, which is a wonderful instrument, which I don't play too often because I like to leave a guitar out so I can pick it up when the mood strikes and play for a while. It's just too nice and expensive to do that. I decided to get a less-expensive acoustic that I could leave out and not worry one of my dogs may knock it off the stand. After trying several guitars in the <$1000 range, I tried out the Alvarez MD60BG and my search was over. This is just a sweet guitar and, in my opinion, the best, by far, in it's class. I leave this one out and am back to playing daily ( I even have good calluses again). It's hard to believe such a nice guitar can be had for this price.

Product Review Read the specs on this guitar and you love what you see. Preferred tone woods, dovetail joinery, open gear tuners, etc. The MD60BG produces a lot of sound, but well balanced. The bass doesn't overwhelm the trebles and each note rings with distinction. It's marketed as a bluegrass guitar, but it has become my preferred finger picking guitar. I could go on. For a sub $1000 guitar($699 at AMS), it's easily a five star recommendation and I can honestly compare it to my other guitars that are far more expensive

Product Review 2 screws on the back of the tuning keys let me know that the tuning ratio is higher meaning the guitar stays in tune. I also noticed that the body of the guitar is 3/4 size so it is between a full size dreadnought and a parlor guitar size. At the moment I have no issues with the guitar because I received it recently and have not played any live gigs because of the Corona Virus Pandemic. The guitar met my expectations and then some! I do not remember ever playing an Alvarez acoustic guitar in my life. I have played Yamaha's, Fenders, and Martin guitars before. I was surprised with how loud this guitar is despite it being only 3/4 the size of a full dreadnought! As I have been breaking in the guitar strings, I am discovering a wonderful range of tones from such a well crafted instrument. Really satisfied with my purchase and it comes with a hard shell guitar case! It is too good of a deal to pass up! I highly recommend anyone from a novice to an advanced guitar player.

Product Review In the category of bluegrassy dreadnaughts I own 3 others - a Martin D-35 (approx. $2800), a Larivee D-10 Deluxe ($3900) and a Alvarez Yairi DMYR80 ($1900). Of all of them, I play this one the most. It stays out on the guitar rack and though the sound is definitely different than the other guitars, which are all rosewood, it certainly is not lacking....just more midrange like you would expect from a mahog guitar. Money well spent.

Product Review When I first received the guitar it had shipping damage, not the fault of AMS. They took care of it ASAP and when I received my new guitar all I could say was wow. Out of the box it was ready to play, no set up needed. Just a little tuning and she was singing. Very fun guitar to play, definitely holds its own vs much more expensive guitars. It’s a very loud guitar, louder than my epiphone ej200. Not to mention sounds much better. I highly recommend this guitar.

Product Review This is an amazing guitar. I just unwrapped this beauty and thought, “okay, just another quality instrument from Alvarez,” The fit, finish, action, wood grain and quality is readily apparent, and pleasing, from the moment you hold this instrument. After tuning and playing for a few minutes I was pleased, but not overwhelmed. Cleaned her up, set her down and let her rest for a bit then picked her up again and retuned. This time it was easier to recognize her “voice.” It is a typical Alvarez sound. Great bass but not as “tight” as some, midrange and treble is even and clear. Well voiced from top to bottom. Intonation is spot on. Picking up the guitar a third time really made me fall in love with the instrument. She sings! She doesn’t have to be played hard, the neck doesn’t have to be muscled, the sound is even and sweet. There is a pleasant “snap” ( hard to explain ) to a fast song, a great bottom end when you need to make a statement and rest is a sweet, sweet song. I can’t wait till I play again, can’t wait to play next week, next year, etc. Just can’t wait to hear how well this beauty ages and seasons. AMS made the purchase so easy I couldn’t pass it up and am glad I didn’t.

Product Review Great. My Alvarez MD60BG is well-constructed of beautiful materials and solid woods; ready to play out-of-the box. The gorgeous gloss finish is perfectly (and thinly) applied, the fretwork is immaculate, the tuners work very well and have the Bluegrass vibe. The herringbone body binding and ivory neck binding is sweet. This guitar is loud with sweet tones and sounds better every time I pick it up. The gig bag is well made and I imagine helps keep the price of this Masterworks series down where it is.
