I struck out on a few Keyboard controllers before hitting a Home Run with the Arturia Keylab 49. The normal size keys are very welcome compared to the mini keys on many Keyboard controllers. The Drum pads are in a spot that makes sense and are easy to access. I've had no problems with compatibility issues when connecting to the DAWS I use... which even includes GarageBand. This is a great value for what you get over some the more expensive Keyboard controllers. Especially when you see all the cool software like Analog Lab 3 that comes with the Arturia Keylab 49 that really easy to access. It's solidly built... not overwhelming to figure out if you take a little time to understand all the functions and the 49 keys are very welcome over a 25 key keyboard.
Highly recommended for beginners or experienced players.

I was blown away by how intuitive and stream line this keyboard was. Not only are the DAW controls great but Analog lab is a complete game changer. Being able to change parameters for your keys directly on the keyboard is by far the best feature I've seen in any midi keyboard. This is essentially a synth emulator with analog lab. I love it

Perfect for an arranger and producer

Product Review
This keyboard is the best when it comes to control surface and keyboard combos.
Having lots of great essential DAW functions to control. 8 track faders and 1 master. Panning knobs. Transpose the keyboard, program it to play chords by hitting one note.
And the software includes great sounding virtual packs to add or help with demos. As a producer and composer this helps with ease and connectivity.
The keys are a little soft and sometimes make you second guess, but they are durable so press hard. The drum pads are super responsive and feel great. Only downside is that the drum pads are preset and non customizable (unless you use Ableton).
Warning: you must set to mackie controller when setting up your DAW surface in the DAW

If you are looking for an all-in-one controller and software combo, this is it.

Product Review
If you are looking at moving into the virtual synth realm but are confused as to which to start with, I would strongly recommend the Arturia KeyLab 49 Essential! Not only is this a fantastic controller with great build quality for the price, it is the software that really makes this the best starter into virtual synths.
The controller itself has "Synth action" keys that aren't weighted, but don't feel cheap like many other controllers. The knobs and faders are all decent quality and have a good feel, especially for the price. It is all plastic, but put together decently and there is no creak or flex to the chassis. The only cheap part are the faux wood stickers along the sides. I mean, I get what they are trying for, but it does look just cheesy.
But, the killer part is the software that is included with this. Most controllers usually include a cheap, crippled version of a popular DAW that is just not really useful or some bad samples. But, Arturia includes some awesome instrument packs that introduce you to their ecosystem. The Analog Lab 4 suite gives you some killer virtual synths based off of some of the greats, and the great part is that every knob maps perfectly to the controller no matter the DAW. And, while not fully programmable as the full version of Analog Lab 4, they are more full featured that most "full" VST instruments that you pay for. And, you can even use these in a stand alone software mode if you want to use the instruments live and don't want to deal with a DAW at the moment.
On top of that, they also include the Grand Piano Model D which is built off of Steinway samples. And, it really sounds awesome. I ended up buying the full version of their Stage 73 electric piano pack simply because I really fell in love with how this controller handles virtual instruments.
This system also plays nicely with Logic X, Ableton, ProTools and even Reaper, which cannot be said for some on the market.

So far I have only been using this keyboard for a couple months and I’m still learning and finding out new things that this thing can do! Not to mention it comes with a DAW and a couple VST’s, which alone are quite costly. I would highly recommend to any beginner or intermediate level producer, especially if you don’t have a whole lot to invest but still want to have all the features of a quality MIDI keyboard!

Full keys, nice weight. Not as heavy as piano keys, but I like them that way. Also can be a little sensitive at times. Analog lab is a little annoying in FL Studio, because the controls aren’t instantly recognized, so you have to lock them.

At first glance I thought this keyboard was like any other MIDI controller but I was wrong. This keyboard goes way beyond All my expectations and is made producing music even easier then it was before. From the fully programmable pads and faders and volume knobs two buttons that make chords with one key after program, this thing pretty much writes my melodies for me. Thanks to AMS I was able to get this on a payment plan and it's it's in my lab right now. Thanks again AMS you guys rock

I've owned a number of midi/DAW controllers, and Arturia Keylab is one of the best. The 49 key is large enough to get a more intuitive feel when playing virtual instruments rather than clicking around to expand octaves. I love how the drum pads light up! It helps create a vibe when I feel like producing in the dark. Thumbs up, for the price, functionality and design.

I was looking for a keyboard midi controller to use in my assignments for school. I needed something that was compatible with Logic Pro X. At first I was hesitant, but when I received it was floored. It goes above and beyond what I expected. It performs better than it looks, and it looks incredible! I would give this keyboard a higher rating, but the max number of stars is 5. What's even better is that the payments plan makes it very affordable for someone that's on a budget. This site is the best place to get this kind of stuff!

I got heavily into picking up all these different Arturia controllers, in 2019.
First it was Keystep, which I like... but it's my least favorite of all the Arturia stuff. Then I got Beatstep... (original) which I adore. Then, Beatstep Pro.... which I LOVE.
Then, I got the Keylab Essential 49... and then the Keylab MK2 (49).
The customization is what always gets me, with Arturia stuff (for general midi controller use). 6 User Maps (aka Presets)... 9 encoders, 9 faders... sadly only 3 buttons, but... the drum pads can work as CC# buttons... for use with Reaper, this is fantastic as you can get them to do whatever you want.
PLUS in DAW mode... all the DAW and track functions work as expected, especially in "Mackie mode"... Undo, Metronome, Save, transport.... brilliant.
I LOVE Arturia stuff, and thank you AMS for helping this poor guy get all the gear he wants and needs (with your 8-pay and 12-pay plans). :)
