I took the plunge recently and grabbed a single mixcube strictly for checking and mixing in mono. One of the best decisions I've made in my career. Everyone hears "check your mix in mono" and while you can do that on your master bus by toggling to mono on your usual set of monitors, that doesn't give as tried and true MONO output like you would get using a single box summed to mono. I simply have it on me alternate output on mix babyface pro fs and I have that signal summed to mono via totalmix software when I toggle over to the mixcube. Easy as can be.
You also get the added benefit of eliminating the crossover in all 2 and 3 way monitor designs and you get a single point source of information when playing your mix back. I find it to be an invaluable part of my workflow now. Vocal levels as well as kick and snare are a breeze to manage, and getting an accurate picture of any midrange smearing is easier than ever. Don't knock it till you try it.

The sound is great. Clear, great reference between Avantone and your other studio monitor speakers. Flip it into mono to make sure your project is going to sound great in headphones, cars, mobile phones. The size is perfect and it does its job. I've had mine for almost a year and use it on all my projects. Film scoring, tracking guitars, vocals, It definitely meets my expectations. I am glad my friend recommended Avantone to me. I was checking out another brand, but I am happy I went with Avantone.

A lot of strong lovers of this item and a lot of ppl who say you don’t need one..
Do you need one? Not necessarily, but it could up your mixes in a big way. Very focused on mids, I hear things I miss in my primary monitors.. I haven’t mixed a ton of songs with it yet but from the first one I noticed it was pretty impactful. I’m excited to mix some more projects with this! The red is also gorgeous.
Ps. No matter what monitors you use, don’t forget to check on laptop speakers, phone, and in the car!

I purchased these to compliment my studio colors as well as enhance the sound quality of my mixing and playback of live tapings. I've been waiting for a pair of these for a long time but the wait is over. More than I expected....superb!!!

This product is solid and heavy and exceptional quality. It comes with heavy power bricks and steel switches. The red paint is finished well. The monitors are made for serious mixing professionals.

These speakers have changed the way I mix. Felt like I’ve been mixing blind with KRK speakers I’ve been using. I’m own a small studio at home. After taking the chance in purchasing this product, my mixes has improved. The car test after mixing out of these speakers, have been quite satisfying. I’d buy these speakers again.

While searching for another set of monitors to help with my mixes, I noticed that these were in a lot of the big studios I came across. Naturally I was curious and assumed that if they were using the Avantones then there must be a reason. Wow!! These were the best purchase I’ve made, I immediately heard flaws in my mixes that I haven’t previously heard which allowed me to clean up my mixes and get a more Professional and polished sound. If you are serious about mixing these are a must have for any studio.

I've only had it for about a week now but it is definitely a game changer. Using one in mono.
