Bought this amp so I can noodle around at home without shaking the foundation with my SVT and it's been great! Nice tone, pretty responsive.

Great Practice amp

It's the size of a micro stack, but has the sound of a regular sized practice amp-- something along the lines of a typical 10 watt solid state 6-8-inch speaker. So, if you're looking for a legitimate practice amp, at a great price, with a good sound within those parameters, then this is a great choice. It does not sound as thin & fizzy as other microamps of this size. Glad I bought it for a more satisfying apartment-level practice experience. Highly recommended.

To small for bass. The sound is in high gain all the time. Not worth it.

My son wanted a small bass practice amp. He watched reviews of all the small bass amps there are on YouTube and chose Blackstar. Great tone control and distortion option. Good battery life, so the amp can be taken everywhere.

I purchased the guitar version of this amp first and loved it so much I wanted the bass amp as well. These sound SO great and take up such little space. They put out a LOT of sound for the size.

Has a great sound and super portable also! Perfect for bedroom practice or just to lay down a quick line/ riff for testing. Blackstar makes great amps and this one is terrific as well!

I currently live in a studio with my wife so I left my rig at my band mates house.
At the moment, I needed something small enough for the apartment and easy interface to dial in when getting the tone I want.
This little amp does everything it’s supposed and then some, I would also recommend purchasing a power supply because it comes w/batteries but no power supply.

This practice amp is awesome! It's hard to believe something so small can deliver such a sound. It's light as a feather and I can take it with me anywhere I go. Runs on batteries and they last a long time (you can order a power supply separately). The sound quality performs great for my practice needs, in fact one of the guitarists uses the Blackstar practice amp (for guitars) at out practices. I love how it has a clean and an overdrive channel, an EQ adjustment AND a compression adjustment. Then there's the octave feature. It's also got a auxiliary line-in so you can play along to music! Overall, I'm highly satisfied with this little guy!! Great for the price!!

Top Tone in a Portable Package

I wanted to run around a campground and play my electric bass for a decent crowd around a campfire while singing camp songs, and this was the perfect amplifier for the job as far as tone, volume, and size were concerned. I'd have rated it 5 stars if it came with a belt clip and plug-in power supply (and I'd have paid a bit more for both). That said, it didn't blow through batteries (it came with a set ready to go), and it fit in a belt pack. The variety of tones on tap made this a better option than an acoustic bass guitar for my purposes; even around the campfire, I wanted to rock! If anything happened to this one, I would buy another.

First, lets get something straight. This is NOT a gigging amp. It is a bedroom/motel practice amp. It is light and portable, it runs on batteries or AC adapter. You can be heard ok while accompanying one acoustic guitar but will more than likely be drowned out by two unless they are fingerstyle players.
Second, that being said...This is without a doubt a great sounding little amp and beats anything at it's price point in terms of sound quality. It is a solid, well built little piece of kit that is definitely worth the price. If I lose mine or it gets stolen I will definitely buy another one to replace it.
You can get louder amps at this price but you will lose sound quality and portability, guaranteed.

I bought this based on a real positive review in Bass Player mag. Not something you would ever take to a gig, but that's not what it's for. Great for hanging in there with acoustic guitars at a fireside jam. Hearing is believing. Check out the YouTube video.
