BlackstarHT-5R Mkll is the best tube amp I've played. This amp is all you need either for practice with the 0.5W option or playing blues in a bar band. From bottle clean to powerful screaming lead tones, it gets you there. Get this amp now!?

Great bedroom amp but definitely capable of small gigs

Product Review
I have owned this amp in the past and was really regretting selling it after a few days.I missed that I would get really nice tone at low volumes since I hardly get a chance to crank my bigger tube amps. Both the clean and OD section sound absolutely great (though more attention was paid to the OD section since it has more EQ options whereas the clean channel only has the boost and tone/volume knob). It has enough gain to get through most metal/rock and the clean just sounds great on my Silver Sky and all my other PRS guitars. I usually use the .5 watt setting since I use it in the bedroom exclusively but the 5w setting is where it's at. Cant get enough of this amp! Just so easy to get a tone you're looking for. Comes with on-board reverb. Thanks to AMS for making it easy to get set up on a payment plan and for being helpful when I had any questions .

Product Review
Great clean and crunch, OD does well up to your more insane metal tones (pedals work well here). I did a ton of research online and in store before purchasing this amp, nothing out there compares to it in the 5 watt class, hands down. I especially like the effects loop, an option missing form most smaller amps. The half watt switch is great when the rest of the house is asleep. I liked it so much I grabbed the 20 watt head as well. But he this amp, you'll be glad you did

Love the sounds and tones you can get from this little beast. Glorious cleans and heavy distortion. Takes pedals like a champ. The MXR carbon copy goes with it like a dream. I highly recommend one.

Big, beefy sound from a small combo.

Product Review
Big sound from a small combo. When I unboxed it I thought it may sound small and boxy. This has big, clear sound even at low volume. I have an EHX Soul Food in front of the amp as a clean boost for both channels. I had a KTN100 MK II that was replaced with this amp. I played a Triple Rectifier through a matching 4x12 cab in try out for a band and it was the best sounding amp I've ever played. This is 95% of that tome for a fraction of the price. All in an amp you can practice in home without bothering the neighbors. The ISF puts this combo over the top. I'm surprised I'm loving the British sound so much. But for a change in flavor at anytime it is available to change to an American sounding amp.

Tube Quality In a small enviorment

Product Review
I was in the market for that "tube" tone but being limited to a small apartment, and not wanting to rattle my neighbors. I began my search, being in possession of both the ID Core 100 & Fly 3, and please with what they bring I needed that middle ground, and as stated Tube tone, and my satisfaction with Blackstar started and ended there. The clean, and high gain (overdrive) channels both bring to the table what I was looking for, and the 0.5 watt option allows me to retain all the tones without having to crank the volume and rattle the neighbors. The amp takes pedals well to boot. If you're in the same position as I, I would recommend taking a hard look at this amp

After owning this amp for just over a month I can honestly say that the Blackstar HT5R has more than exceeded my expectations. I'm getting very satisfying tube tones that sound exceptional both live and on recordings. I,m also running a Ventris dual reverb pedal through the effects loop for top notch reverberation and there are no words to describe how happy I am. A huge thank you to American Musical Supply for having this baby delivered in 2 days.

Great home amp, very versatile, great cleans and above average gain for such a small amp (if you wanna djent you might get a tubescreamer and a noisegate). Tons of features, but nothing that will make it a pain to use or dial in.

I have had a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe and I must say that the Blackstar HT-5R MKii is hands down the most versatile Combo Tube Amp on the market. The built in attenuator drops you from 5 watts to .05 watts without compromising your saturated tube sound. You still maintain full tube harmonics at a level suitable for practicing in a room at home. The amp has an ISP control knob that lets you go from an classic American amp sound to a classic British amp sound or a blend of both worlds in the middle setting. I highly recommend this amp for anyone wanting stage quality sound at any sound level. This amp is capable of playing in a small venue with no problems keeping up with the bigger amps on stage. My Les Paul sings beautifully through this amp. Great amp at a worthy price.

I've owned a dozen Blackstar amps, most of them tube models front to 40 watts. I'm primarily a Blues/Rock aficionado, occasionally gigging three piece, and a few recordings. I've been buying smaller and smaller amps, and now find that I can achieve everything I need from only this one MkII HT5R... very much four channel results with its fabulous new two switchable voicings on each of two channels. PERFECTION

I have had this amp for a couple weeks now. It sounds great! 5 watts never sounded so good. The drive channel sounds awesome, I am able to get close to classic Sabbath tones without pedals. I run the .5 watt setting quite often with no loss of tone. The full power setting can really get loud, just a great little amp. If something ever happened to it I would immediately purchase another one.

The first thing I noticed was that I can play way longer and basically not get any hearing fatigue. My other Blackstar sounds great but after a long period I would feel that annoying “harshness”. It’s a solid state! So yes, valves are still winning when it comes to guitar amps. This little bad boy sounds way warmer and makes you wanna play more and more. The big surprise so far was how awesome it records with the USB. WOW! No more microfone for me. Great amp!

Wow just got one of the first units and it started out good, loved the look and size ,plugged it in and was liking the tones on both channels and THEN noticed loud popping when switching from clean to dirty (foot switch & panel button). Turned it off for a while, came back and it was dead, turned on but no sound so she's going back, totally disappointed because I really had high hopes for this amp..
