Product Review The Bose L1 Compact Portable Line Array Compact PA System is a lot of fun to use and enjoy! I have 3 guitars and each has its own distinctive sound with the L1! But what I like best is I can use it for smaller gigs by itself!! No heavy speaker stands and extra speakers needed, just my guitars and a mic stand and mic!! At home I'm using it with just one of its two column speakers. I love the zipper bag supplied to store either or both column sections. An easy to read and understand Instruction Manual comes with the unit, along with a carry cover for the main unit when you're traveling. Thanks Bose!!

Product Review We Purchased two of these for our 2nd campus which is smaller than the main campus so we didn’t want to hassle with speakers amplifiers mixing boards etc. Plus we anted to be able to use it outside for evangelical events. These speakers have gone beyond my expectations we have used them outside since Covid and i was amazed how well they held out with vocals not drowning out from drums and keyboards

Product Review I use it for a couple things, siguarly as accoustic bass amp and vocal Pa. System, when we play in a small resturant. I like the ease of carrying one piece of equipment to these gigs. The sound is great for my accoustic bass, nice and warm, and the vocal would be better if there was reverb, I use Mic Mechanic 2 to solve this problem. I also use it as my main bass amp when we use the Bose t8s and S1 speakers as our PA system. We play Hawaiian, Spanish, 50-60, light country, should have done this a long time ago. If there is a next generation please put reverb. Great addition to my equipment. Haven't tried outdoors yet, will give update. I love Bose.

Product Review This is perhaps the best piece of gear I have purchased when it comes to music gear. After years of schlepping monitors, mains, mixers etc.i discovered the Bose L1. Not only is it light, compact, and very easy to set up and use, it sounds fantastic, loud and clear. I have used it for solo acoustic performances for weddings and it will more than fill spaces of 100+ people at only half way on the gain, and also for my 3 piece band without any other pa support for vocals. Two of these I feel would easily fill a large room or outdoors no problem. I use a small Yamaha mixer with it for vocal mics ,and two for drums and have received nothing but compliments . I absolutely recommend this system if you are a performer like myself. And thanks AMS for the easy payment plan. It’s hard in this day and age for a musician to make a buck with their craft and being able to acquire a fantastic system like with easy payment plans is a god send, Thanks Bose and Thanks AMS!!!!

Product Review I have purchased 2 of these, and they work great as a stand alone system. It would be nice if there was additional tone controls, but I can use them as they are or incorporate my mixer if the need is there. Very clean sound. Product Review I've been using this for my solo acoustic gigs for the last couple of years now. It has never failed me.. even after dropping it upside down out of the car onto the concrete. A few scuff marks, but still kickin'! It's so nice to be able to set up my PA in less than 5 minutes and that's including the 1 trip from the car to load it in. I also like the fact that I can stand directly in front of it while playing so that I can hear exactly what the audience hears.. not so pro tip, the farther you can sit the unit back behind you, the better. I love the Bose lineup so much, I intend to purchase the L1 Model 2 within the next few months for larger outdoor gigs.

Product Review I'm very pleases with this Bose L1 Compact. It is overall very quiet, only the slightest hiss that can only even be heard in a dead-quiet room. More quiet than any amp I've ever used. The sound is absolutely pristine. In fact, the guitar (piezo pickup) sounds absolutely gorgeous going straight into the amp. If I had a choice I would play directly in, but since I use certain effects, I can't. The build quality is excellent. The way the speakers go, you would be hard-pressed to get feedback. I did my first gig with the Bose a couple weeks ago and I had zero problems with feedback. It wasn't even an issue. And my acoustic guitar normally loves to howl. It's so nice, when you buy something, to discover that it completely surpasses your expectations. From build quality to pristine sound to convenience in setting up, this unit has it all. I am using this to replace my Ultra-heavy Hartke acoustic amp. I had back surgery a few years ago, and I simply can't lift amps anymore. The beauty of the Bose is that it comes in sections and the heaviest part is easily manageable even with my bad back. It has a very convenient handle for carrying, and it has completely removed my concerns about weight. Setup of the entire system literally takes about one minute. Place the base, slide in the first post, slide in the second post, slide in the thirds, plug it in and turn it on and you're ready to go. I want to give a balanced review here. Try as I might, I can't think of any cons. I suppose more inputs would be nice, but that's not a big deal. This is a tool that will serve me for years to come. I will buy another one someday in order to go full stereo. If you're on the fence, don't hesitate. Buy it. You will enter a new world of pristine, clean sound with plenty of volume, and you will be done with lugging around heavy equipment.

Product Review Most of my 25+ yrs professional career has been spent in bands, both small and large. I decided to branch off and do solo and duo gigs on the side and needed something that I could set up quick but count on to get me through the job. i would recommend the Bose L1 Compact for small venues where you need clarity and presence but don't want to be too too loud. fantastic quality and extremely portable. not for medium to large venues in my opinion, but for intimate settings and "background" music it's perfect! It can actually get pretty loud but I think at that point where you need a lot of volume I would rather use a more conventional 2 spkr system. The L1 Compact was exactly what I needed for my situation. Bravo!

Product Review As a mobile DJ, this Bose Compact system has made life so much easier. No more 12-15" speakers, speaker poles, long power cords and XLR cables. No more filling up my backseat - this is a small, compact little powerhouse. I had one already and this purchase completed the set. I have used it in every place - from house parties, to corporate events, to weddings, to large halls - the sound is pristine and can fill a room easily. If I find I need a little extra bass, I add on a small sub, but for most gigs all I need are my perfect little Bose. I would definitely recommend these!

Product Review I do a one man band show and used to drag around a huge PA Head, 2 15" mains and 2 10" monitors, speaker stands, cables, etc. I carry this in one trip and it sounds better than all the other stuff together. Because of the way it is designed, I can actually stand behind and to the side of it and still here it very well and not get any feedback. No need for monitors. I hear what my audience hears...

Product Review I was looking to get the best sound from a portable, easy to set up system. My acoustic trio found the L1 Compact fit all our needs providing crisp and pristine vocals and guitars. I have recieved so many complements on the quality of the sound in addition to the almost transparent stage presence. I host a local open mic night and some of the participants were not sure of my new sound system. They were used to seeing speakers sitting on top of large bulky stands and maybe a floor monitor but when they performed they were nothing short of impressed. In fact one of my friends soon purchased her own. For larger outdoor performances I pair it with a second L1 Compact and my reliable L1 Classic. All the acoustic guitars, upright bass and vocals go through a mixer, on to the Bose and we're off and running. No need for any extra monitors or amps. This is a great Bose design, with professional performance, that is easy to move and set up. You could not ask for more.

Product Review This is a great system. I use it in a small studio for rehearsal and in smaller venues with a hybrid drum kit setup. It's great as a PA for speaking engagements and music playback as well. I was surprised at the volume it puts out for my needs but the bass was a tad lacking for my given situation. I use it in conjunction with an additional small Behringer sub. Surprising combination and surprising performance from the system. I use it with both, mics, triggers/module and playback. I feel it has plenty of breathing room and can supersede in performance the size of space it was designed for.

Product Review 40 plus years in music ! Love the L1 compact and trust me I’ve had several other similar and returned them all . I do mostly Corporate Dj events where speech and music are very important. I link 2 or 3 of these together and my setup is done , clear punchy and fills the room with sound. I did a gig in Boston at a major venue during one of Boston’s biggest storms last year and wasn’t allowed to park anywhere near the venue so I parked a mile away and took abride share over. I left all of my bigger system in the car a grabbed my compact my laptop and mic bag got to the gig over snow banks in the venue placed the compact dead center in the stage and it filled the ballroom and had them dancing all night more than ample for the 150 guests ! Thank you Bose and AMS !

Product Review There’s not much I can say about the Bose L1 other that it sounds incredible. I haven’t gone more than halfway on the volume knot and it’s loud enough. The only downside is if you want to run multiple mics or channels. Another inconvenience is the lack of effects and the lack of EQ for your instrument line. Regardless all those “issues” are easily fixed by pairing the L1 with any mixer.

Product Review The L1 Compact is an excellent small venue set up. It is much more versatile than one might think. Out of the box you have a system that is easy to use for a singer/songwriter performing solo. Plus there is the bonus of RCA jacks for adding backing tracks, keyboards or other music. Supplement the L1 Compact with the T1 Tone Match Engine and you have expanded the possibilities. I love the portability and tone. An excellent value.

Product Review Bought this 2 1/2 yrs ago through American Musical. Fastest delivery on the east coast. I was thinking I need a backup. I use this almost every day. I'm older now and do the nursing homes. But still rock on week ends. In and out of car two shows a day four days a week plus the clubs. People are amazed!! I was thinking JBL eon one? My local store had them side by side. Big room with noise. Bose out shined JBl hands down...and I've always used JBLs in the past. Maybe the EON one needs a good mixer but as it stands one on one I could not get a good sound with just a mic through JBL . Had the Volume up full. Bose not even half way.

Product Review I've been using BIG Pa systems for more than 40 years of live performances and decided to make things easy on myself. I thought about the Bose Compact for a few years and decided to try one at a local music store. Sounded great in the store so I finally ordered one from AMS. It arrived today and set up was as simple as could be. Plugged in my Taylor T5 and a Shure mic and after the first few notes I thought "This sucks!" I fooled around with it for a few minutes, and in about 5 minutes the sound grew on me. Within the first 1/2 hour I was smiling from ear to ear. It was the first time I could hear everything perfectly clear with no muddiness in the mix. Kinda threw me back a few minutes until I realized what crystal clear sound really sounded like. Have a whole series of concerts coming up over the next two months and this system is a keeper for sure. Give yourself enough time to aclimate to what you really sound like, add a few effects, and a Behringer mixer for depth. GREAT SOUND!

Better options than the L1 Compact, for less money

Product Review Good sound, but only for very small venues. There are currently better choices for less money. I have performed repeatedly with a friend who owns the L1 Compact. I respect his choice, but would not own this unit myself, as I feel it is a poor value for the money spent. Both LD Systems and HK Audio (among others) have superior solutions, in my opinion.

Product Review Had a Bose Compact a few years back, but upgraded to the Model II, and sold the Compact. Wanted a backup for the Model II and to have something for the smaller gig, so I bought the Compact again. I love the sound of these systems. The Compact can handle almost all gigs I do. Probably don't need the Model II. I play solo guitar and sing and sometimes use backing tracks, and this system does it all so well. The proof is in all the compliments I get on the sound, and the puzzled look on the faces of people looking at where all that pristine sound is coming from. Way cool. The Model II is a great system as well.

Product Review This is a great system in a small room. It is much like it's big Brothers the L1 and L1s....just not as much power. As usual with BOSE. It is basically plug and play. I also like the removable sections. It can be placed on the floor or on a table. Very versatile in a small application.

Product Review I play, mostly, smaller venues...so I decided to scale down my setup. I was going to get a small acoustic performer style amp but still wanted options for adding more vocals/instruments if needed. So I got the Bose L1 Compact system with the T1 Audio Engine. So far, it has provided plenty of sound coverage (even at my outside, slightly larger venue). The effects options and ToneMatch engine give me a sound that I am very happy with...and has caught many compliments as well. I just bought it recently, but did my research and was sure to pay attention to user reviews (through many sources) and so I am confident that this system will work well for me for some time....however, I will update this review when I have more experience using the L1 Compact and T1.

Product Review I have several Bose home products and have been really looking forward to their professional gear. My plan is, to buy a 2nd one to have stereo sound at DJ/Karaoke gigs. For now, I carry this unit, my laptop, and small table to a couple of nursing homes to play music and it is so nice to have less to set up, and the sound is amazing. Further, since I'm still using my amp and midsize speakers at the other gigs, the Bose L1 Compact is the finest monitor speaker I have ever used. Just plug in the Line-Out feed adjust your level and you can hear everything you need to.

The headache of finding a great system these days has grown tiresome for me,i did not want seprate speakers, and recievers plus trying to find the right speakers blah, blah, blah, this bose system does it all and it fits snug in my computer chair and it is LOUD,LOUD,LOUD and sounds amazing.i recommend a EQ system just for extra control with rca in/outputs. also now I can put my keyboard, drum machine, korg volcas through this amazing all in one system also.I hope to buy another soon. Thank you AMS for the great ezpayments AND BOSE for putting pure quality products out.

And with AMS opportunity to place this on an EZ Payment PLan makes it affordable to anyone.

Your general opinion of this product. I already had one Bose compact now I have two, I also own the L1 M2 and a L1M1. Setting up tow of the Bose compacts is much quicker and lighter. One will cover a group of 100 so it give to reason two of them should cover up to 200 people. I've used them for groups of 150+ with great results. Been using the first one 2 to 3 time a week for 6 months with no problems, been using both at the same time for two weeks with no trouble. Very lite weight with big sound and more bass than most give them credit for. Sound and quick set up and lite weight Awesome!

Your general opinion of this product. I pulled this out of the box and set it up in about a minute. I hooked up my wireless mic and it was crystal clear. Played along with my portable keyboard and instantly I was impressed. It will be perfect for our coffeehouse piano lounge gigs! The jury is out on how dependable this will be since I just got it, but I suspect it will handle our gig schedule just fine. Can't get any easier than just plug in and play. The portable set up. Still have to make two trips, but not three or four. Just the BOSE PA, Tower and mic stands in one trip, Keyboard, Keyboard stand and gig bag in second trip. I'm set up in minutes and jammin. No monitor speaker to lug around or PA speakers. Life just got a lot easier for our group! Excellent tone, running a mixer on it to adjust my highs and lows!

Your general opinion of this product. I've used the L1 for 2 years performing for bar gigs, private parties, weddings, indoor/outdoor events- pretty much anywhere you can play (and over 200 events). I use it primarily for guitar/voice solo gigs, but also for DJ-ing. The product is extremely dependable. I ran into one of the designers at a gig out on the vineyard, and he said the compact is the most dependable of the L1 line. Bose put each L1 product through a 10,000 hour test cranked to the max and the L1 compact is the only one that did not have a single failure in the test units. I've never had a single issue. It doesn't get any easier...set-up in seconds. Even though there are only 2 channels, there is also an rca input and a 1/8" input, which are great for playing recorded music on your breaks. If you have a mixer or a pedal that combines your guitar/voice into a single line, you'll have even more flexibility. The best feature is the portability. I went from lugging around a PA or amp on a dolly to being able to carry in my whole set up (guitar, backpack with gear, and L1) in a single trip. This is especially awesome for city gigs that require blocks of foot travel between parking garage and gig location. This thing gets LOUD, too. And the bass is awesome...2 things you wouldn't necessarily expect when you see it in person. Also, it comes with high quality covers for the base and tower (bag with shoulder strap)...other speakers of this quality will charge you big bucks to protect your investment. The only feature I think it is lacking is a master volume control...not really a problem for most situations, but for those qiqs where the crowd size changes and the space is small, you may want to consider a mixer so you can run into a single L1 channel. The L1 sounds crystal clear. What you put in is what you get out. If you have cheap gear, you'll sound like it. There are no effects (besides a factory set EQ that you can engage) built in. A decent pre-amp, mixer, or effects will definitely enhance your sound!

Your general opinion of this product. I will enjoy this product for years to come, and as soon as I can I will order another one, it seems that is well made, and nice to look at, the moment you hear the sound is just amazing! Its pretty well made, I had the opportunity to play with a friend of mine who owns also a Bose L1, and it never failed . Its very easy to use and set up is quick, it doesn't take that long. Using it with other products is easy too and it works nice. The manual is clear and simple to understand, with the different options you have you can play with it in different scenarios with no problem I love it! The best features would be, easy to set up, it doesn't weight that much, the access to plug your instrument is Visible right away on top. If I had to add something, it would be fluorescent signs to plug in with very little light at night The tone is very nice, don't feel it crispy, is well balanced lows and highs, it feels warmth, really nice sound!

Your general opinion of this product. Bose nails it! Perfect for acoustic guitar and vocals all the way to full band. The quality it excellent. I have 2 of these units now. I have owned one for a year. It still looks new and works perfectly! It is really as easy as they say it is to hook up. I can set 2 up in 10 minutes including and external mixer for my band. I was up and running when I first got it right out of the box. You don't really need the manual but if you are a novice it would be helpful. The best features are all of them! It has inputs for 1/4", XLR, RCA stereo and 1/8" stereo for iPods etc. The controls are very simple and just setting the volume and tone controls at 12 o'clock pretty much handles most applications. I really would not add anything to it as it is very manageable as it is. The sound is the best thing about the unit! The bass is smooth and present without the boomy-ness most speakers have. It has a 180 degree dispersion pattern so the audience coverage is much better too. You can use it as a main and monitor at the same time so it saves extra equipment and hookups. I use 2 for my 6 piece rock band for mains, with everything miced. One on each side of the stage. It even works outdoors! We get a nice balance of clarity and power. People have commented how good they sound. I would not reccomend these for a heavy metal band but just about any other type of genre will work well. Great for DJ use as well.

Your general opinion of this product. I do a single with tracks. Sound quality is very important to my job. I originally bought one 2 years ago and have been happy with it. Easy to carry, easy to setup, etc. I just bought another one to be able to project a little further and to run in stereo. I record my tracks in my home studio and I take an extra effort to mix these down to sound like a "band demo" recorded from the stage. Now, with 2 in stereo, I can spread the other instruments across my stage area and couple that with Bose quality, it sounds great!! I ALWAYS get compliments on my sound. A little pricey in comparison but you absolutely get what you pay for! Your back will thank you after a gig too. Haven't had a problem with the construction or the internal pwr amp. The track that the speaker and stand interconnect with, seems to keep the speaker/stand very stabilized. Assemble, connect, power it up. That's it! The ability to carry your complete PA w/o help is a great feature. I would like to see a 4-band eq or some kind of frequency shaper without having to shell out another $500 for their mixer. It doesn't have enough channels anyway. The tone is typical Bose quality. It sounds GREAT! It has a very balanced tone.

even do its made in china this thing is extremely solid. I have to say it one more time extremely solid. reminds me of apple products made in china but USA quality and engineering. I got the hosa 1/4 to rca adaptor thinking whatever its only 10 dlls, and Oh Boy this thing defines stereo sound extremely well. I am using a pro fx12 mackie which is in my opinion a little on the bright side a little eq fixed the problem. the fact that not many knobs are present its because they are not needed. extremely easy. dumb proof. rich, and at first not to warm it sounded like no sub was present. 2 hours later that thing was rocking my studio (double garage size) louder than 2 harbinger 15" powered which I use to have I couldn't believe it. after moving furniture and rearranging the studio/night club in my house, the compact l1 ended up in the back left corner. I didnt do it on purpose it was coincidence, the compact l1 placed in the corner started sound like a stampede of elephants running in to my house, tha bass took over every frequency in the sound wave making me feel like I had a horn loaded sub in my studio. by itself placed even behind furniture this thing sounds amazing, but once you find the sweet spot in your house, studio, night club, gym or whatever you are going to experience something incredible. never ever had the experience to hear this quality of sound before. I have a production company I really know about good stuff. Your general opinion of this product. buy it invest in good quality speakers the experience is worth it. dont let it clip or it will bring down the volume. once it looks a little red just stop raising the volume. eventually you are going to get used to the good sound and start hating those old gigantic booming speakers.

Well made and dependale/ Bose quality as usual Features are good but I wish they would have used Uniplugs on each channel. I play harmonica thru a delay pedal into the mic input side. I have to use a impeadence matching transformer to convert the compacts XLR to a 1/4 inst. cord. Or if they had put an EQ on the guitar side like the mic side I wouldn't have to do this. Also the line out is a 1/4 female. Most house PA systems are XLR so now I have to use a direct box to convert the line out to an XLR? I use this as a clean personal monitor and line out to main house PA if needed. Other than having to use Impeadence matching transformers for my set up it is very easy to use and set up. Clean and clear, you get what you put into it. Your general opinion of this product. Great compact package thet delivers clean clear sound. I like this way better than the amps I had been using to get clean tones and as a personal monitor.

Wow! I think it's sturdy, lightweight and looks durable. The covers for the columns and the amp should keep it looking new for years. it is high impact plastic like most of the high end speaker cabs they make these days. It's Bose! This real feature to the Bose L1 is the SOUND! It makes you sound very natural and the 180 degree speaker projection means you have even sound anywhere in the room. The simplicity of the design makes it a pleasure to use. It has a direct line out for large venues so can take your sound with you anywhere. It will easily fit in the back of your Mini Cooper, even if you guitar doesn't! It only weighs 29 pounds assembled. It's one trip to carry you amp/PA into the gig! Leave your monitor speaker at home you won't need it. Use the line out to an external system for large venues with ease. This unit could not be easier to use! I got it and set it up in less than 5 minutes. This is intended for use by acoustic solo guitarists/singers. It is very playable. The sound is AMAZING! It sounds better than any acoustic guitar/vocal amp combo I have ever owned or tried, and I have owned many over the last few years. The acoustic guitar setting optimizes your guitar and allows you to get a nice balance of lows and highs that I have never heard before. Also the sound is multi-dimensional, it sounds the same anywhere in front of the sound field. You can leave you monitor speakers home too.

I have used the unit for approximately 6 months and have had not issues. The L1 Compact has proven to be a very reliable piece of equipment. I inititally had some concerns about the plastic composite construction, but is more than adequate for day to day use. The unit could not be simpler to use. Perfect for the singer/songwriter looking for an easy, dependable, great sounding system. The addition of phantom power would be a big plus. The addition of a small external mixer with effects resolves the issue. All in all a great piece of equipment for wineries, coffee houses and small clubs. Simple plug and play. Carry in, setup, ready for soundcheck. And all in less than 5 minutes. Amazing Bose sound. Enough said.

It weighs 29 lbs, so there is a lot of plastic going on, but it feels very solid. It has a nice cover that comes with it. All the knobs and switches are solid and well-appointed. I would rate the quality as high, the engineering as first-rate. Other musicians gather around it and say "Wow, nice!" even before they hear it. When they do hear it, they can't believe the sound. My B-3 emulation sounded good before, but it came alive playing through the Bose L1c. The Bose L1c is designed to be a very simple, quick setup and it is that for sure. I use it in the Collapsed mode for my guitar lessons, as a keyboard amp for gigs, etc. When I use a pair of them as a PA, I run either a small mixer or a VoiceLive2 into it. You need to DRIVE this little guy on the input side, IMHO. Bose states that the L1c is basically turned up all the way all the time already, so the headroom is already there. If you're not putting a good strong signal into it, you're not going to fully use what it has to give. It can get very loud; loud enough for most playing situations. These units are very stealthy if you play a lot of restaurants, wedding gigs, etc. They fade into the background very nicely, unlike large boxes on sticks. Only 29 lbs each and no more hoisting cabs up on stands! I bought a 18 amp-hour battery pack at Sears and it will power one L1c full-blast for FIVE hours! What could you do with that? It's like "PA for Dummies". Plug and play. No, there are no onboard effects, but onboard effects usually bite anyway. If you're a singer who sings with tracks, or with a band or ensemble, it's a no-brainer. If you're really not that great a singer and you know it (I'm serious), then keep using the other stuff. The Bose L1c has such clarity that it will feel like you're under a microscope. But, if you're a truly talented singer who needs to be heard, you definitely need one of these. Or, better yet, two! And, NO, I do not work for Bose.

Bose represents quality and dependablility. I fully expect my L1 Compact to live up to that for many years. The best feature for me is accurate sound in a compact package. Less hassle, cables and trips from the car to the stage. this replaced two mains and two monitors for most of my gigs. I'm in and out with a simpler setup. Exactly what I was looking for. For anyone who has set up a PA, this will seem easier than ever. One power cord, one cable from the mixer and tuen it on. It'll seem like you forgot something, but it's just that easy. Very clear and dispersion is superior to the powered speakers I replaced with this unit.

I like the numerous input features, XLR, 1/4 inch and RCA. Plus you can hook your Ipod into one of the inputs and actually complete your entire gig via a playlist on your Ipod. Very simple to operate, just plug it in, plug in your external source, and you're ready to play. The tone is great and it can be adjusted by your external mixer.

It is Bose..what do you expect? size, ease of set-up eliminates need for speaker cables, stands, etc. Not a back breaker. I am 53 years old and this is the perfect "old fogie" system. I plan to entertain well into my sixties, as long as my health holds out, and this system will minimize wear and tear on the old body :) I recently played a gig in a fire department "barn" with very poor acoustics. There were 200 people present throughout the event, as well as kids games, small carnival rides, etc. The ambient noise level was quite high. The Bose L1 penetrated that room with consistent high quality sound at a pleasing level...I was very impressed. I plan to buy a second L1 Compact soon!
